A 13-inch gas oven that Cozze now lists only as a manual

The Cozze 90349 is a gas pizza oven for pizzas of around 13 inches, which is 33 cm. The brand is run by Millarco International A/S from Lystrup in Denmark. According to its own website, Cozze launched in 2021 and initially had only pizza ovens in its range.

On cozzebbq.com the 90349 no longer has a product page. The current 13-inch range there consists of the Classic, the Rotate Black Edition, the Premium Rotate and an electric oven. The German manual for Germany and Austria has survived, filed under the User Manuals. It lists the oven as model 90349 with the manufacturer code AG-PZ03-BK-DE, the approval number (PIN) 2531DL-0108 and the destination countries AT, DE, SK, CH and LU. The declaration of conformity in it is dated 22.12.2021 and refers to the EU Gas Appliances Regulation (EU) 2016/426 and the standard EN 498:2012, which governs outdoor LPG grill appliances in the EU.

The Amazon catalogue gives the release date as 17.10.2023 and lists Millarco as the manufacturer. That the ASIN B09PLFG6Y2 really belongs to the 90349 rests solely on the model and part number in the Amazon catalogue. It costs approx. €299 (Amazon page on 20.10.2026: €299). You can find all the gas and electric models we compare in the pizza ovens category.

Housing, burner, control panel: how the oven is built

In the product photo, the 90349 is a flat, angular box in black and anthracite. The lid is bevelled at the corners, and a round dial thermometer sits in the middle at the top. The opening takes up almost the whole front, wide and low. At the bottom right a small control panel sticks out, with a rotary knob and ignition button, and the gold-coloured gas nozzle at its side. The oven is carried by four splayed legs; Amazon describes them as feet with rubber pads.

The manual gives 530 mm width, 530 mm depth and 290 mm height. This envelope includes the splayed legs and the protruding control panel, so it says little about the size of the baking chamber. The weight appears only in the Amazon catalogue: 35.27 lb, converted approx. 16.0 kg.

Everything about the housing comes from the Amazon details. It is double-walled, 0.7 mm carbon steel outside, 0.5 mm stainless steel of grade SS 430 inside. That is a ferritic chromium steel, magnetic and less corrosion-resistant than the common 304 grade, though usual as an inner sheet in ovens. Carbon steel rusts without a protective coating; which coating the outer skin carries is not stated.

On the burner, the sources contradict each other, at least in wording. Amazon speaks of a U-shaped burner made of SS409 with 5.0 kW. The manual says the oven has three burners, two at the sides and one at the back. A single U-tube running around the stone on three sides would satisfy both descriptions, but this reading is not documented anywhere. What is certain according to the manual is that the burner unit of all Cozze ovens is made of stainless steel and may be cleaned with oven cleaner if necessary. For heat distribution, what matters most is where the flames sit: left, right and back, with the front left free.

Amazon also writes of a thermometer and thermostat. A thermostat does not appear in the manual. There you control the burner strength yourself by pressing in and turning the control knob, continuously between high and low. An automatic function that holds a set temperature is therefore not described.

How big can the pizza be?

Around 33 cm, no more. According to Amazon, the cordierite stone measures 345 × 345 × 10 mm, and a 13-inch pizza has a diameter of 33.0 cm. If it sits in the centre, it has a good 7 mm to each edge.

In the Amazon title, the same slab is called “34x34 cm pizza stone”, rounded. You should not read the 34 as the pizza diameter: a dough that slips a little when you slide it in will otherwise hang over the edge immediately. Because the stone is square, turning through 90 degrees does not matter, though; the round pizza then sits exactly the same way again.

For the peel, a simple limit follows. A 12-inch blade (around 30 cm) fits, while a 14-inch blade, at around 35.6 cm, would already be wider than the whole stone. We do not know the height of the opening, and therefore not how flat the peel has to be held either.

Handle the stone itself with care. The warnings in the manual: it does not tolerate extreme temperature swings, and you never put frozen food on the hot stone. It is sensitive to impact and can break if dropped. It gets very hot and stays hot for a long time after use. You do not cool the hot stone with water. The manual recommends preheating, and it contains the sentence not to use the stone over an open flame, without explaining it. We read this to mean that the stone does not belong directly on a flame outside the oven. What to do if a crack appears anyway is covered in our guide cracked pizza stone.

In detail: 5.0 kW, 364 grams per hour and why you turn the pizza

The 5.0 kW in the manual is the nominal heat input, based on the gross calorific value (Hs). It means the energy flowing into the burner with the gas stream, not the heat arriving at the stone. Next to it is the consumption: 364 g of gas per hour. Both figures fit together: propane has a calorific value of just under 14 kWh per kilogram, and 0.364 kg times 14 gives around 5.1 kW. According to the data table, the nozzle is 0.96 mm.

This lets you calculate for the gas bottle. At full output, a 5 kg bottle lasts, on paper, around 13.7 hours, an 11 kg bottle around 30.2 hours. Because you turn it down after heating up, one fill lasts longer; how much longer depends on your knob position and cannot be put into a reliable figure.

The procedure Cozze describes starts at full output. You light it, check that all burners are burning, and heat up for approx. 20 minutes. According to the manual, the stone always takes longer than the oven and is hot only after at least 20 minutes. Wind and outside temperature lengthen the heat-up time. As the target temperature, the manual gives “ideally around 400 °C”; no maximum temperature is stated there, and the wording “adjustable up to 400 degrees” comes from the Amazon title.

Then you slide the pizza in and turn down to medium heat so that it does not burn on top. After approx. 30 seconds you take it out, turn it through 90 degrees and carefully slide it back in. You repeat this until it is done.

Why this is necessary follows from the design. The flames sit at the sides and the back, so the pizza burns more strongly on three edges than at the front with the opening. Without a rotating stone, you balance this out by hand. And the top cooks through the heat radiating down from the flame and lid, the base through the stone. At 10 mm, the stone is rather thin. With the same material, it stores only two thirds of the heat of a 15 mm thick stone and gives way faster after each pizza. The instruction in the manual fits this: before the next pizza, you set the oven to maximum for a few minutes.

Gas connection: 50 mbar, hose of 1.5 m at most, soapy water

The 90349 is designated as an appliance of category I3B/P(50). I3B/P means butane, propane and their mixtures, and the (50) stands for 50 mbar connection pressure. Accordingly, the data table names butane, propane and LPG gas mixtures, and the connection chapter propane LPG with 50 mbar. One sentence in the running text deviates from this and names butane at 28 to 30 mbar. We stick to the category, data table and connection chapter and would use a 50 mbar regulator, which is the usual one in Germany anyway. Cozze requires a suitable regulator certified to CE and names bottles of 3.9 to 13 kg of propane as suitable.

The parts list in the manual contains exactly three items, one of each: oven, pizza stone and hose nozzle. Regulator and hose do not appear there. Include both in your purchase.

For the hose, the following applies: it is connected either with a ¼ inch thread or with a nipple and hose clip, fixed to the regulator and appliance with hose clamps, and may be 1.5 m long at most. It must comply with the standard of the country of use, must be neither twisted nor kinked when attached to the bottle, and must on no account touch the oven. To make it easier to push onto the nozzle, the manual suggests putting it in warm water and applying a little washing-up liquid on the inside.

The order when connecting: assemble the oven following the assembly instructions, that is insert the stone, insert the battery, screw on the hose nozzle; according to the picture panel, one person with a screwdriver and open-ended spanner can do this. Then hose to the oven, regulator to the hose, regulator to the bottle valve following its own instructions. The control knob is at OFF before you open the gas supply.

Before first use, you check the installation for leaks, and never with an open flame but with soapy water. The manual gives approx. 100 ml of solution made of 1 part washing-up liquid and 3 parts water. Control knob at OFF, connect the bottle, open the regulator, apply the solution to the hose and all connection points. If bubbles form, there is a leak. After fixing it, you check again and then close the bottle. If the leak cannot be repaired, you replace the regulator and hose; as long as it leaks, you must on no account use the oven. You will find more on bottle sizes and regulators in our guide gas bottle for the grill.

To light it, you press in the control knob, hold it down, turn it anticlockwise as far as it goes and press the ignition button. It is switched off in reverse order: first bottle valve closed or regulator to OFF, then the control knob. If the flame flashes back, you turn the control knob, bottle valve and regulator to OFF and wait. The manual forbids fixing the problem yourself; gas dealers, the seller or a qualified gas technician are responsible.

Setting up, cleaning, warranty: the wording of the manual

The oven is intended for outdoor use only. The manual calls using it in enclosed spaces dangerous and prohibited. 50 cm must stay clear at the sides and behind the oven, and there must be no objects such as trees or roof structures above it. Do not place it on a plastic table, a table with a flammable tablecloth or any other flammable surface, and keep it away from flammable materials such as petroleum-based products or thinners. The appliance and gas bottle stand level and are not moved during operation. At wind speeds above 2 m/s, the opening must face away from the wind, and for combustion the oven needs sufficient ventilation.

With the 50 cm clearance, the 90349 therefore takes up an area of around 153 cm wide and 103 cm deep, calculated from the external dimensions. The manual gives no distance for the front; that is where you stand.

On people and clothing, the manual lists: parts of the oven get very hot, and you keep small children away. Children must not stay nearby unsupervised during operation and must never sit or stand on the oven or play around it. No loose clothing and no wide sleeves, some synthetic fabrics are easily flammable, and clothing or other flammable materials must not come into contact with burners or hot surfaces. You do not touch the outer surface, pizza stone and the immediate surroundings; for hot components Cozze recommends protective gloves. When changing the bottle, there must be no ignition sources nearby. You do not tamper with components sealed at the factory; interventions and modifications of any kind to the appliance can be dangerous. After baking you close the bottle, and when not in use you disconnect it from the appliance.

Cleaning is done only when the oven has cooled down and the gas supply at the bottle is closed, recommended at least once a month. If you let the oven run for another 15 minutes after baking, food residues burn off. For the outer surface you use a mild cleaning agent or baking powder dissolved in hot water, for stubborn dirt a non-abrasive scouring powder. You clean plastic parts with a soft cloth and hot soapy solution, without abrasives, degreasers or concentrated grill cleaner. According to the manual, you clean the pizza stone with a mild soapy water solution, if necessary with non-abrasive scouring powder, and rinse it. It must then be completely dry before you use it again; you can also dry it in the oven. Before storing, you wipe off excess grease with a damp cloth and mild cleaning agent.

The warranty section of the manual, which is worded generally for Cozze products, adds to this: inner and outer surfaces are washed thoroughly after use, oven and pizza stone inside with a sponge, warm water and washing-up liquid. You clean grill grates the same way or with oven cleaner, but without a steel brush. Stainless parts are to be rubbed with a cotton cloth and Caramba multi-spray.

The warranty itself is graded by component. 5 years apply against rust-through of the load-bearing steel structure of the oven and trolley, and for enamelled and stainless steel, surface rust excepted. 2 years apply to gas burners, the Flametamer as burner protection and grill grates. Plastic parts are expressly excluded. According to the manual, the condition is that the oven was used according to the user manual and assembled correctly, maintained and cleaned frequently, covered with a cover when not in use, connected to the correct type of gas and placed on a level, safe surface. Wooden parts and accessories must be kept indoors in winter, non-original parts must not be fitted, and the oven must not stand as a fixed fixture close to the sea, by a chlorinated swimming pool or a hot tub. Any unauthorised intervention voids the warranty.

What the manufacturer does not state

The following remain open: whether there is a door or heat shield (neither appears in the manual), a maximum temperature, the weight from a manufacturer source, the material and wall thicknesses of the housing as well as insulation between the layers, burner shape and burner steel SS409, a maximum pizza size for the 90349, the height of the opening and baking chamber, the gas consumption at medium setting, baking times, pizzas per hour and reheating time, whether regulator and hose are included in retail, the difference from the identically coded 90348, spare parts for stone, burner and thermometer, the country of manufacture, a matching cover or other accessories for exactly this model, a statement on balconies and the meaning of the warranty entry “12.” in the Amazon catalogue.

These three alternatives are worth a look

Model The difference Price Our rating Choose this one if
Cozze 90349 (this one) Stone 34.5 × 34.5 cm, 5.0 kW, regulator and hose not in the parts list approx. €299 8.3 you bake pizzas of around 33 cm and source the regulator and hose yourself anyway
Ooni Koda 16 L-shaped burner, pizzas up to 40 cm according to Ooni approx. €449 9.4 you regularly bake larger pizzas for several people
Ooni Koda 12 listed by Ooni as a 30 cm oven approx. €284 9.0 30 cm is enough for you and you want our higher rating at almost the same price
BURNHARD TONY Hose with 50 mbar pressure reducer included, pizza up to 29 cm approx. €198 8.4 you want to connect it without extra purchases and smaller pizzas are enough

The prices come from our price boxes; for the two Ooni ovens it is the price from Santos Grills, for the TONY the one from Amazon. The rating is our editorial assessment from the data comparison, not a measurement.

The Ooni Koda 16 costs approx. €449, the 90349 approx. €299, and it is the only oven in this round for pizzas over 33 cm. The Ooni Koda 12 costs approx. €284 and is therefore slightly cheaper than the Cozze; in return, the Cozze takes the larger pizza. The BURNHARD TONY costs approx. €198. Burnhard gives 5.9 kW at 429 g/h for it, so at full load it uses 65 g more gas per hour, and its stone measures 33 × 33 cm at 1.5 cm thickness.

When the 90349 fits and when another oven does

Pizza size decides first. If you bake pizzas of around 33 cm, the stone fits. If you want 40 cm, only the Koda 16 remains of these four ovens.

Then space. Allow a good one and a half metres of width and one metre of depth including clearance, plus room for the bottle and for you in front of the opening. It must be clear above the oven. The manual does not mention a balcony, but it requires that there is no roof structure above the oven. In our reading, a covered balcony or one with another balcony above it is therefore ruled out; on an open roof balcony, house rules and the tenancy agreement remain the hurdle. What else needs to be clarified is covered in the guide grilling on a balcony.

On budget, you need to count more than the oven price. On top of the approx. €299 come a CE-certified 50 mbar regulator, a hose and a cover, without which you miss a warranty condition. A pizza peel is also needed, and an infrared thermometer is optional. If you do not want to make exactly these purchases, you are better served by the TONY, which brings the hose and pressure reducer with it.

If you carry the oven often, you should take the around 16 kg seriously. With the bottle, that is two trips.

The 90349 is wrong for anyone who expects a door, a rotating stone or automatic temperature control. None of that is in the manual, and turning every 30 seconds remains your job. We would recommend it to people who have a fixed spot in the garden or on the terrace, buy a suitable regulator and hose anyway and bake pizzas of around 33 cm; if you are still unsure which oven type suits you, you can go through the criteria beforehand in the finder.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Cozze 90349 Gas-Pizzaofen

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for Cozze 90349 Gas-Pizzaofen.

What should I do if the burner does not light?

After two unsuccessful attempts, you set the control knob to OFF and wait 5 minutes before trying again. If it still does not work, you also close the bottle valve and replace the battery. The ignition button takes a 1.5 V AA cell: you unscrew it anticlockwise, insert the new battery with the poles correctly aligned and screw the button back on firmly.

How often do I need to replace the pressure regulator and hose?

The regulator at the latest 10 years after it was manufactured. Cozze estimates its service life at this length of time, so what counts is the manufacturing date on the regulator, not the day you bought it. The replacement intervals of the national regulations also apply to the regulator and hose. According to the manual, you replace a worn hose immediately, regardless of any deadline.

How does the 90349 differ from the current Cozze Classic with 13 inch?

Output and door. According to cozzebbq.com, the Classic with the numbers 90430 and 90860 has 6.0 kW instead of 5.0 kW, and a pizza door is always included there. Cozze gives the dimensions as 50 x 50 x 29.5 cm and the connection pressure as 30/50 mbar for DE and AT. What both have in common is that no regulator is provided: for the Classic this is stated explicitly on the product page, for the 90349 it is missing from the parts list in the manual.

Are the Cozze 90348 and the 90349 the same appliance?

That remains open. Both manuals carry the same manufacturer code AG-PZ03-BK-DE, both state 5.0 kW and 530 mm width, and Cozze names no difference anywhere. The text for the 90348 merely lacks the sentence about the thermometer. The 90347 with the code AG-PZ03A-BK-DE is clearly different: 8.0 kW and 605 x 605 x 305 mm. The three share one declaration of conformity covering the numbers 90346 to 90351, 90353 and 90354.

Can the oven go in a cellar or garage in winter?

Yes, but only without the gas bottle. Indoors, the manual allows storage only if the bottle is disconnected from the appliance and removed. For long breaks, Cozze advises the original packaging in a dry, dust-free place, so keep the box. You do not store the bottle itself in the house but upright outdoors, well ventilated, out of direct sun, out of reach of children and never anywhere that can get warmer than 50 °C.

Can I use the 90349 in a motorhome or on a boat?

No. The manual rules out both in so many words: the appliance is not intended for use on a boat, nor for a caravan or motorhome. On a campsite next to the vehicle, outdoors, on level ground and with the prescribed clearance, the manual says nothing against it. After baking, you take the bottle off and fit the protective cap before it goes back into the vehicle.

Can I also cook meat or bakes in the 90349?

With restrictions. The manual rules out very fatty meat and similar products because of the fire risk, and you must not heat unopened food containers such as tins in it. The parts list does not include a grill grate. Whatever you put in besides pizza therefore sits directly on the stone or in your own ovenproof dish. We did not find suitable dishes or pans for exactly this model from Cozze.

How accurate is the thermometer in the lid?

Cozze calls it indicative. So it gives you a rough guide to the heat in the oven, but not the exact temperature of the stone surface. For the stone, the manufacturer recommends an infrared thermometer from its own range, which you aim directly at the surface. In our assessment, this is worthwhile mainly in cool weather, because the needle can already read high while the base of the pizza still gets too little heat.
