★★★★☆4.2 · Editorial score13 kW, 3 burners, stone 60 × 60 cm, up to 600 °C
✓ Editorially checkedRated by Seydhan Cakmak (Founder and editor in chief) · 4 July 2026

In our assessment, the Cozze 24 Inch Gas Pizza Oven suits anyone who regularly bakes for larger groups and really uses the double capacity of the 60 × 60 cm stone. A nominal heat input of 13.0 kW is documented; whether the burners can be controlled separately is not clearly settled by the manufacturer sources. For the occasional pizza evening for two it is oversized, and a more compact, cheaper model is the better choice there.

An oven for garden parties: what the Cozze 24 Inch is

Cozze lists the device as the 24 Zoll Gas Pizzaofen Black Edition; on Amazon it is called Schwarze Edition and carries model number 90938. According to the manufacturer it is built “for family celebrations and garden parties”. According to Cozze, pizzas up to 60 cm in diameter or two pizzas at once fit on the stone.

In the brand’s pizza oven range it is the only 24-inch oven. The other models are 13 or 17 inches.

Behind Cozze stands Millarco International A/S from Lystrup in Denmark. The brand was created as a subsidiary of this wholesaler of tools, fittings and garden equipment, and by its own account the design comes from Denmark. On the Amazon page the oven stood at €476.94 on 21.10.2026, so at approx. €477. In our overview of pizza ovens it therefore sits above the compact gas ovens that bake one pizza after another, and further down we compare it with three of them.

Body, stone and dimensions according to the data sheet

The body is double-walled: stainless steel SS430 inside, coated black outside. The Amazon text speaks of painted steel. That fits the outer skin, but says nothing about the inner wall. A double wall lets less heat through to the outside than single sheet metal, because there is a gap between the two layers, and it therefore keeps more heat in the baking chamber.

The pizza stone is cordierite and measures 60.3 × 59.5 × 2.5 cm. The old version of this page and the Amazon text round that to 60 × 60 cm. The product page mentions a double stone setup, and in the product photo a joint runs through the stone from front to back between the two pizzas. The picture suggests two slabs instead of one, but it is not stated explicitly anywhere.

Outside, the oven measures 72 × 70 × 39.8 cm according to Cozze. That is an envelope dimension. The photo shows four splayed legs and, below the oven opening, a box set out in front with the controls; both are included in these figures. According to the picture, the 39.8 cm is the height, since the body is built wide and flat. For the weight there is only the Amazon catalogue: converted, approx. 48.5 kg.

According to the product page, a thermometer and a heat shield come with the oven; the latter is called Pizza door on the English page. In the photo it appears as a separate plate with a handle in front of the oven. Cozze describes the baking chamber as tall, and the control panel faces forward. As an approval, the page cites an LFGB test (a German food-contact materials standard).

What Cozze does not state

These details are not in any manufacturer source we opened (product page in German and English, comparison page, manual 90438):

  • a dedicated manual for the 24-inch oven or for the German version 90938
  • output per burner, only the total is documented
  • ignition type, the field on the product page is empty
  • dimensions of the oven opening and working height
  • material of the heat shield
  • full scope of delivery, including the gas hose
  • whether an LED light is fitted; the manual describes one with four AA batteries, the product page mentions none, and in the photo there is a button with a sun symbol on the right of the control panel
  • a matching cover and base stand
  • replacement stones and their prices
  • country of manufacture and year of market launch
  • a basis for the energy efficiency class A+++ that appears in the Amazon data

Does the oven have three adjustable burners or one?

This cannot be settled clearly. Amazon speaks of three individually adjustable burners, the Cozze product page of one U-shaped burner made of stainless steel SS409, and the manual of three burners, two at the sides and one at the back. In the Amazon photo there are two control knobs on the panel.

A U-burner and three burners do not have to be mutually exclusive. A U-shaped tube running along the left wall, the back wall and the right wall has exactly these three sections. That would be one burner with three flame runs, not three separately adjustable burners. This reading is our interpretation of the two manufacturer statements, nothing more.

What counts for the purchase is what you can control. According to the manual, the flame can be set to any position between full and low output. Whether the two knobs in the photo control two zones, or one of them switches something else, is open. The manual is also a combined manual for several Cozze ovens. It speaks generally of “all control knobs” and contains sections that may not belong to this model.

We would therefore not buy the oven expecting to bake hotter on the left than on the right. What is firmly established is the nominal heat input of 13.0 kW, which product page and manual give identically, and according to the manual the burner unit is made of stainless steel.

In detail: 13 kW, a large stone and three temperature figures

If you divide the 13.0 kW by the stone area of around 3,588 cm², you get a good 3.6 W per square centimetre. The BURNHARD Fat Tony, at 8 kW on a stone of 35 × 38 cm, comes to a good 6 W. So the Cozze has more power, but spreads it over 2.7 times the area. This figure exists only on paper. How hot a stone actually gets also depends on the wall of the body, the position of the flames and the stone thickness.

For temperature, three numbers stand side by side, and they mean different things. Cozze advertises up to 600 °C. The Amazon text gives 400 to 480 °C for the stone. The manual recommends a very hot oven for baking, “preferably around 400 °C”. Cozze does not say where the 600 °C is measured; in our assessment it is the air under the oven roof, along which the flames sweep. A cordierite stone 2.5 cm thick stores a lot of heat, but also absorbs it slowly and gives some of it up to the dough with every pizza.

The built-in thermometer helps only to a limited extent. According to the manual it shows the temperature in the oven and “serves only as a guide”. For the exact stone temperature Cozze refers to an infrared thermometer of its own brand.

Heating up: the manual allows about 20 minutes for the oven and at least 20 minutes until the stone is hot enough. Wind and outside temperature can lengthen this. It is supposed to be faster with the pizza door. The section on this appears in English within the German part and promises a heat-up time 20 to 30 percent shorter, so 20 minutes would become 14 to 16. After 20 minutes of preheating the door must come off according to the manual, the oven must never exceed 650 °C, and during baking the door does not belong on top of the oven.

For the baking itself, Cozze advises turning the heat down to a medium setting so the top of the pizza does not burn. Before the next pizza the oven should run on the highest setting again for a few minutes. Behind the advertised 2 minutes per pizza there is therefore a rhythm of short baking time and reheating, and anyone who slides in two pizzas at once halves the number of these pauses.

Gas, regulator and hose for Germany

Cozze does not include a pressure regulator; this is stated explicitly on the product page. Connection is via a 1/4 inch thread with a brass fitting. The page gives 30 mbar as the gas pressure, and 50 mbar for Germany and Austria.

That is where the uncertainty with this model begins. The only manual we could find belongs to number 90438 (CG-PZ04B-BK), while Amazon lists 90938. The country table of this manual lacks Germany and Austria, and its regulator chapter speaks of 28 to 30 mbar for butane and 37 mbar for propane. Our assumption: 90938 is the version for Germany and Austria, as Cozze also assigns separate numbers per country group for other models. For this oven it is not documented.

The rating plate on the appliance is therefore decisive. The manual requires the oven to be operated only at the pressure it is designed for. If it says 50 mbar, you need a 50 mbar regulator.

For regulator and hose, the manual sets clear requirements. The regulator must be certified to BS EN 16129:2013, the hose must comply with EN 16436 and may be at most 1.5 m long. No part of the hose may touch the appliance, you must not lay it kinked or twisted, and a worn or damaged hose must be replaced. Either a hose with a ¼ inch thread or one with a nipple and hose clip can fit. Cozze estimates the life expectancy of the pressure regulator at 10 years and recommends replacing it within that period.

Bottles with 4.5 to 15 kg of butane or 3.9 to 13 kg of propane are permitted, so the usual 5 and 11 kg propane bottles are within range. What to look out for when buying and exchanging is covered in our guide to the gas bottle for the grill.

Before every use a leak check with soapy water is due, mixed from one part washing-up liquid to three parts water. If a leak is found, the oven must not be put into operation. If it cannot be fixed, you contact your gas supplier instead of repairing it yourself.

Setting up, lighting, switching off: what the instructions require

At the start of the German part are these warnings, in capital letters in the original:

  • “Attention! For your safety, use outdoors only.” (German original: “Achtung! Zu Ihrer Sicherheit nur im Freien verwenden.”)
  • “Read the instructions before using the appliance.”
  • “Warning: Accessible parts can become very hot, keep small children away.”
  • “Warning: Do not touch the surfaces of the pizza oven during operation”
  • “Do not move the appliance during operation.”

Oven and gas bottle belong on a level surface. No combustible materials may be within 1 metre, and the oven must never run in an enclosed, roofed area. The manual describes use in enclosed spaces as dangerous and “FORBIDDEN”. A table with a flammable tablecloth, plastic or other easily flammable material is ruled out as a base. If the wind speed is above 3 m/s, the oven must not be operated facing into the wind. It is not intended for installation in or on a boat or camper van. It must not be modified either; according to the manual any unauthorised change voids the warranty. You change the gas bottle away from any ignition source.

Children should never be alone or unsupervised where the oven is running. You do not wear loose clothing or sleeves when baking, nor highly flammable synthetic fabrics, and for particularly hot components Cozze recommends protective gloves. You must not tamper with parts that the manufacturer or its representative has sealed.

To light it, you press the control knob, hold it pressed, turn it anticlockwise to “Full rate” and press the ignition button. If the burner does not light after two attempts, you shut off the gas and wait 5 minutes. The same applies to a flashback: everything off, wait 5 minutes. If the problem persists, a specialist is needed; the manual explicitly says you should not fix it yourself.

To switch off, you first close the bottle valve or the regulator. Only when the burners have gone out do the control knobs go to OFF. Whether a balcony comes into question as a location at all is not governed by the instructions alone; our guide Grilling on a balcony goes through tenancy law and house rules.

Cleaning, care and warranty

You may only clean when the oven has cooled down and the gas is shut off. The manual recommends cleaning and servicing the appliance at least once a month. After every bake, the oven should burn off for about 15 minutes so that as few food residues as possible remain.

On the stone, the manual contradicts a rule that was also on this page. Water is not forbidden. What is forbidden is cooling the hot stone with water, and it must be dry before the next use. According to the manual it is cleaned with a mild soap solution and, if needed, non-abrasive scouring powder. The warranty page goes further: the interior and stone should be cleaned after use with a sponge, hot water and washing-up liquid.

The stone still needs care. It is fragile and can break if it is knocked or dropped, it stays hot for a long time after baking, and it must not be used over an open flame. What to do about a crack is explained in our guide to the cracked pizza stone.

For the outer surfaces the manual names a mild solution of detergent or baking soda with hot water. Abrasives, degreasers and concentrated grill cleaners have no place on plastic parts. The stainless steel burner unit may be cleaned with oven cleaner if needed, and you care for the stainless steel parts with Caramba Multispray and a cotton cloth. For the grate, the manual forbids the steel brush. Whether the 24-inch oven has a grate at all is open, because the sentence comes from the combined manual.

According to the manual, the warranty applies for two years to gas burners, flame deflectors and burner guards as well as grill grates. Cozze makes it conditional on these terms:

  • The oven is used in accordance with the operating instructions.
  • It is properly assembled according to the instructions.
  • It is serviced and cleaned regularly.
  • When not in use, it stands protected under a cover.
  • Wooden and accessory parts from Cozze are stored indoors in winter.
  • It is connected to the correct type of gas.
  • It stands on a level, safe surface.
  • No parts are fitted that are not original Cozze parts.
  • It is not stored permanently near the sea or near swimming pools or hot tubs with chlorine.

What else comes into question?

BURNHARD Fat Tony 8 kW, stone 35 × 38 cm, pizzas up to Ø 34 cm approx. €499 8.6 your budget is around 500 euros and one pizza per round is enough

The prices are the guide values from our price boxes and change. The score is our editorial assessment based on the data sheets; we did not measure anything on any of the four ovens.

When the Cozze 24 Inch fits and when another oven does

Group size decides first. In our assessment, two pizzas side by side only pay off when six or more people regularly want to eat at the same time. For two to four people, an oven with one pizza per round is enough, and the Ooni Koda 16 is at approx. €449, the Cozze at approx. €477.

Then space. With its outer dimensions and the distance to combustible materials that the instructions require, the Cozze needs a fixed location on a stable table, and at the weight from the Amazon catalogue you will not carry it to the shed after every evening. Anyone who wants to take the oven along, to go camping or to friends, is better served by one of the smaller devices.

With gas, a suitable regulator, a hose and a bottle come on top of the purchase price. If you already have a gas grill with a 50 mbar regulator, you check whether its regulator and hose meet the standards and the length limit above. If a clearly documented German version matters more to you than stone area, the Gozney Arc XL is the alternative. According to the price box it is at approx. €899.99 (the Cozze at approx. €477) and bakes one pizza after another.

If your budget is around 500 euros, the BURNHARD Fat Tony also comes into question (approx. €499, the Cozze approx. €477). Its stone is much smaller, but the output per square centimetre is higher, as calculated above.

The wrong choice is the Cozze 24 Inch for anyone who mostly bakes for two, and for anyone whose only spot is roofed. Anyone who instead entertains twelve guests in the garden several times a summer gets, in our comparison, the largest pizza capacity among the four ovens here, and should ask the retailer before buying whether the rating plate shows 50 mbar.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Cozze 24 Zoll Gas-Pizzaofen Schwarze Edition

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for Cozze 24 Zoll Gas-Pizzaofen Schwarze Edition.

Which battery does the ignition need, and where does it go?

A 1.5 V AA battery, and it sits in the ignition button itself. To insert or change it, you turn the ignition button anticlockwise until it comes off, put the battery in and screw the button back on. That is how manual 90438 describes it. According to Amazon the battery is not included, so you buy one before the first bake.

How much gas does the oven use?

At full power 946 g per hour, as stated in the technical table of manual 90438 next to the 13.0 kW. On paper, an 11 kg propane bottle therefore lasts just under 12 hours at full load, a 5 kg bottle a good 5 hours. Preheating alone for 20 minutes uses around 315 g. For the German version 90938 the figure is not documented separately, and at a medium setting consumption drops by an unknown amount.

Do I need a cover, and where do I store the oven in winter?

You need a cover, because Cozze makes the warranty conditional on the oven being covered when not in use. We did not find in the manufacturer sources which cover fits the 24-inch oven. Indoors, the appliance may only be stored if the gas bottle is separated and removed. The bottle itself stays outdoors, upright, well ventilated, out of direct sun and never anywhere it can get above 50 °C.

Can I use the Cozze 24 Inch on a balcony?

The manual does not mention balconies, but one requirement narrows it down a lot: there must be no obstruction above the oven, and trees, shrubs and roof extensions are named. A balcony with another balcony above it is therefore ruled out, as we read it. On an open balcony without a roof, your tenancy agreement and house rules decide whether gas is allowed there. Given the weight from the Amazon catalogue, it is also worth checking the load capacity of the table.

How big can two pizzas be if they are to fit in together?

Just under 30 cm each side by side; the stone width of 60.3 cm does not allow more on paper. That is our calculation, and no manufacturer source gives a size for two-pizza use. Because two 30 cm pizzas would then touch and you need room to turn them with the peel, we would count on 26 to 28 cm. A single pizza of 60 cm diameter, as Cozze states it, uses the stone depth of 59.5 cm almost completely.

In what order do I connect the oven the first time?

Assemble first, then connect the gas from the oven towards the bottle. The manual names these steps: assemble the oven according to the assembly instructions, hose to the oven, regulator to the hose, regulator to the bottle valve following its own instructions, and before you open the gas supply, all control knobs to OFF. We did not find assembly instructions specifically for the 24-inch oven; the steps come from the combined manual 90438.

Can I also cook meat or vegetables in the oven?

Yes, according to the Amazon text the stone is also intended for large roasts, several steaks or vegetable pans. The manual sets limits: extremely fatty meat does not belong in it, because it can cause flare-ups. You must not heat sealed food containers, because pressure builds up and they can burst. Frozen food does not go on the hot stone, because according to the manual the stone should not be exposed to extreme temperature changes.
