This list compares eight charcoal kettle grills, from the small 47 cm Weber to the Napoleon with a cart. The order follows our editorial score. We have not handled any of the grills and have not grilled anything on them: the score is based on manufacturer information, manuals and catalogue data, which you can read in the linked reviews. The page helps you decide which size, which features and which accessory system suit your garden or terrace.

Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2: premium 57 cm kettle grill

According to the Amazon catalogue, the buy button leads to the Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2, not the PRO22K-LEG-2: a 57 cm kettle grill with a porcelain-enamelled bowl, a hinged chrome-plated steel grate and a removable ash catcher, approx. €373 (as of September 2026). Napoleon names a height-adjustable cast iron grate only for the PRO models.

Our assessment: The grill behind the link does not have the height-adjustable cast iron grate of the PRO22 model named in the page title: Amazon sells the NK22K-LEG-2 with a chrome-plated steel grate. At approx. €373, for direct grilling we would choose the cheaper Weber Original Kettle Premium 57, and the Napoleon only once it no longer costs more than the Weber at approx. €249 when you click.

Strengths according to our review:

  • Lid and bowl are porcelain-enamelled; the lid can be hooked onto the bowl to put it down
  • Grate inserts that fold on both sides, through which you add charcoal or smoking wood
  • Central air deflector (N500-0043) included, according to Napoleon for more even temperatures

Weaknesses according to our review:

  • Chrome-plated steel grate instead of cast iron; a cast iron grate and three grate heights only come with the PRO22K-LEG-2
  • For indirect cooking, the manual provides optional charcoal trays, which are not included

Editorial score 9.5/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2.

Napoleon PRO22K-CART-2: Ø 57 cm, with grill cart and side shelf

The Napoleon PRO22K-CART-2 is a 57 cm charcoal kettle grill with a porcelain-enamelled bowl, a cast iron grate adjustable to three heights and a cart with a folding stainless steel side shelf. Napoleon no longer lists it in its German range; our price box states approx. €549.

Our assessment: The PRO22K-CART-2 suits you if you want a surface to put things on next to your kettle grill and also want to control the heat through the grate height. Because the model has been discontinued, we would only buy it if the seller confirms in writing that they are a Napoleon dealer and the price is below €449, the recommended retail price of the successor PRO22K-CART-3.

Strengths according to our review:

  • Folding stainless steel side shelf on the right of the cart: unfolded, the grill is 114 cm wide instead of 79 cm
  • Cast iron grate in three heights and a lid with a corner hinge, according to the 2023 Napoleon catalogue only on the two PRO22K models

Weaknesses according to our review:

  • Discontinued model, the successor is the PRO22K-CART-3
  • Approx. €549 according to our price box, €50 above the last archived Napoleon recommended retail price of €499 (Austria, December 2023)

Editorial score 9.2/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the Napoleon PRO22K-CART-2.

Weber Master-Touch GBS E-5750: 2,342 cm² of grilling area according to Weber (Ø 57 cm)

The Master-Touch GBS E-5750 is Weber’s 57 cm kettle grill with a Tuck-Away lid holder, One-Touch cleaning and a hinged coated steel grate whose centre section takes GBS inserts. On 5 October 2026, only marketplace sellers offered it at Amazon, from approx. €329; in the Weber shop it costs €299 (as of 2 October 2026).

Our assessment: Our assessment: the E-5750 suits you if you alternate between direct and indirect grilling on 57 cm and want to arrange the charcoal in the supplied holders; you can buy inserts for the GBS centre section later. If you want a stainless steel grate, choose the E-5755; if you often cook for a long time at low temperature, choose the E-5770 with a charcoal ring and diffuser plate.

Strengths according to our review:

  • Hinged grate with a removable centre section for Weber’s GBS inserts
  • Two charcoal holders and a measuring cup included, charcoal quantities per side and hour are in the manual
  • One-Touch system: three stainless steel blades control the bowl ventilation and sweep the ash into an enclosed aluminium pan

Weaknesses according to our review:

  • Coated steel grate, a stainless steel grate only comes with the E-5755
  • No manufacturer information on the measuring range and accuracy of the lid thermometer

Editorial score 9.1/10, purchase route via Amazon marketplace sellers only. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the Weber Master-Touch GBS E-5750.

Weber Master-Touch GBS E-5755: 57 cm kettle grill

The E-5755 is Weber’s 57 cm kettle grill with a hinged stainless steel grate, GBS centre section, Tuck-Away lid holder and One-Touch cleaning. According to the manual, what separates it from the E-5750 is the grate material: stainless steel instead of coated steel. In the Weber shop it costs €349 (as of 5 October 2026).

Our assessment: Our assessment: the E-5755 suits you if you alternate between direct and indirect grilling on 57 cm and want a stainless steel grate whose centre section takes GBS inserts. If the seller does not confirm the baskets, budget €29.99 for a basket set. If you often cook for many hours at low temperature, check the E-5770; if you can live with coated steel, check the E-5750.

Strengths according to our review:

  • Hinged stainless steel grate whose centre section takes Weber’s GBS inserts (available separately)
  • Tuck-Away holder for the lid and One-Touch system: three blades control the bowl ventilation and sweep the ash into an enclosed aluminium pan
  • Measuring cup included, to which Weber’s charcoal tables for the 57 cm bowl refer

Weaknesses according to our review:

  • Whether two charcoal baskets are included is unclear: Weber’s E-5755 page does not name them, only the Amazon bullet list does
  • Chimney starter, cover and GBS inserts cost extra

Editorial score 9.0/10, purchase route via Amazon marketplace sellers only. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the Weber Master-Touch GBS E-5755.

Weber Master-Touch GBS C-5750: 57 cm kettle grill

The C-5750 is Weber’s 57 cm kettle grill in Smoke Grey with a hinged coated steel grate, GBS centre section and One-Touch cleaning; according to a 2022 Weber archive page, a Tuck-Away lid holder is included. Weber no longer lists it in its catalogue (as of 6 October 2026); on 6 October 2026, only marketplace sellers offered it at Amazon, from approx. €396.

Our assessment: Our assessment: the C-5750 suits you if you want a 57 cm charcoal grill with a Tuck-Away lid holder, a hinged GBS grate and two charcoal baskets, and a seller commits to the price and features.

Strengths according to our review:

  • Hinged grate whose removable centre section takes Weber’s GBS inserts (available separately)
  • Tuck-Away lid holder and two charcoal baskets according to the Weber product page, measuring cup included according to the manual
  • Stainless steel One-Touch system: three blades control the bowl ventilation and sweep the ash into an enclosed aluminium pan

Weaknesses according to our review:

  • No longer listed in Weber’s catalogue (as of 6 October 2026)
  • Coated steel grate instead of stainless steel

Editorial score 8.9/10, purchase route via Amazon marketplace sellers only. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the Weber Master-Touch GBS C-5750.

Enders Caldera Pro 57: Ø 54 cm grate, SWITCH GRID grate system

The Enders Caldera Pro 57 (item no. 80912) is a charcoal kettle grill with a Ø 54 cm stainless steel grate, 2,290 cm² of grilling area and two charcoal baskets included. It costs approx. €129 (as of 5 October 2026), the same as the Enders recommended retail price. The manual we rely on belongs to version 8090.

Our assessment: Our assessment: the Caldera Pro 57 is the cheapest of the four kettle grills in our table and suits you if you want two charcoal baskets included and do not yet own Weber inserts. If you have GBS accessories, stay with Weber; if you often cook for a long time at low temperature, plan for an additional thermometer.

Strengths according to our review:

  • SWITCH GRID with four inserts that Enders explicitly lists for the 80912: pizza stone, pan, poultry roaster and wok
  • Two charcoal baskets are included according to Enders and help you place the heat where you want it
  • Removable, enamelled ash catcher, lid holder for hooking the lid on according to Enders

Weaknesses according to our review:

  • Accessories cost extra: the four explicitly assigned inserts (Enders recommended retail price €39.95 to €59.90) and the chimney starter (recommended retail price €19.99)
  • The lid thermometer measures in the lid, and according to the 8090 manual it is hotter at the grate; for long cooking at low temperature, Enders recommends a separate thermometer

Editorial score 8.8/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the Enders Caldera Pro 57.

Weber Bar-B-Kettle 57: Ø 57 cm, 2,342 cm² of grilling area according to Weber

Under this ASIN, according to the catalogue, Amazon sells the Weber Bar-B-Kettle 57 with the number 1502062: a 57 cm charcoal grill with 2,342 cm² of grilling area, 12 kg and a built-in lid thermometer, approx. €129 at Amazon on 6 October 2026. On weber.com/DE, a different model (1331004) appears under the same name.

Our assessment: Our assessment: the Bar-B-Kettle 57 suits you if you are looking for a simply equipped 57 cm charcoal grill with a built-in thermometer and the seller confirms the model number 1502062 to you. For an accessory system or convenient charcoal top-ups, Weber lists nothing for this item, so the Master-Touch GBS E-5750 or the Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2 come into question.

Strengths according to our review:

  • 2,342 cm² of grilling area, room for 13 burgers according to Weber
  • Lid thermometer, lid vent and three ventilation openings on the bowl according to the Weber page for item 1502062
  • Porcelain-enamelled bowl and lid, according to Weber’s table 10 years against rust-through or burn-through

Weaknesses according to our review:

  • weber.com/DE does not list item 1502062; the German page shows a different model (1331004) under the same name
  • Coated steel grate; Weber lists no accessory system and no grate flaps for adding charcoal for this item

Editorial score 8.7/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the Weber Bar-B-Kettle 57.

Weber Compact Kettle 47 cm: Ø 47 cm, 1,548 cm² of grilling area according to Weber

The Weber Compact Kettle 47 is a charcoal kettle grill with a 47 cm diameter, according to Weber 1,548 cm² of grilling area and room for 9 burgers. Weber lists no lid thermometer for it, nor a One-Touch system; only the Original Kettle 47 has both. At Amazon it cost approx. €79 on 6 October 2026.

Our assessment: Our assessment: compared with the Bar-B-Kettle 47 and the Original Kettle 47, the Compact Kettle 47 is the plainer Weber 47: Weber’s list names neither a lid thermometer nor a tool holder for it. That is enough if you control the heat through the ventilation and buy your own thermometer if needed. If you want a thermometer in the lid, choose the Bar-B-Kettle 47; if you grill for more than six people, choose the Compact Kettle 57.

Strengths according to our review:

  • Porcelain-enamelled bowl and lid, according to Weber resistant to rust, flaking and scratches
  • According to Weber’s warranty table, 10 years against rust-through or burn-through on bowl and lid (for first buyers)
  • 1,548 cm² of grilling area, according to Weber room for 9 burgers and suited to 4 to 6 people

Weaknesses according to our review:

  • No lid thermometer in Weber’s equipment list; the Bar-B-Kettle 47 and Original Kettle 47 have one built in
  • Smaller area than the Compact Kettle 57 (2,342 cm²); with a two-zone setup, only part of the 1,548 cm² remains for direct cooking

Editorial score 8.7/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the Weber Compact Kettle 47 cm.

Buying guide: which kettle grill suits you?

How many people are grilling?

The smallest area in the list belongs to the Weber Compact Kettle 47 at 1,548 cm², according to Weber room for 9 burgers and suited to 4 to 6 people. According to Weber, the 57 cm Weber models have 2,342 cm². For the Weber Bar-B-Kettle 57, Weber names room for 13 burgers, and for the Master-Touch GBS E-5750 6 to 8 people. Napoleon states 2,356 cm² for the NK22K-LEG-2, and Enders states 2,290 cm² for the Caldera Pro 57, with a grate of 54 cm diameter.

The manufacturers’ burger numbers follow no common standard: Napoleon counts 22 burgers on 2,356 cm², Weber 13 on 2,342 cm². So compare the area. Our assessment: if you pile the charcoal on one side, only the charcoal-free part is left for indirect cooking, so on the 47 cm model correspondingly little.

Where will the grill stand?

You use charcoal grills outdoors only. Weber and Napoleon warn of danger to life from carbon monoxide poisoning in enclosed or inhabited spaces, naming buildings, tents, caravans, motorhomes and boats. Weber also names garages and covered walkways, and Napoleon garages, conservatories and garden gazebos, as places where you must never use the grill. For the Enders Caldera Pro 57, the manual of version 8090 requires use outdoors only. For the Bar-B-Kettle 57 and the Compact Kettle 47, Weber’s product page advises not to use the grill in enclosed spaces but only outdoors.

For the NK22K-LEG-2 and the PRO22K-CART-2, Napoleon requires 1.5 m clearance all round from anything flammable. Balconies or terraces made of wood or other combustible building materials are excluded, as are sites under roofs, carports, awnings and roof overhangs. For the Master-Touch models, according to Weber nothing flammable may be within 1.5 m, and the grill never stands under a combustible structure. For the Bar-B-Kettle 57, Weber’s product page names neither a minimum distance nor anything about balconies; for the Compact Kettle 47 we found neither minimum distances nor balcony approval; and Enders makes no statement about balconies. Whether charcoal is allowed on your balcony is governed by your tenancy agreement and house rules, see the guide Grilling on a balcony for more. The further safety notes are in the reviews.

The footprint also differs. With the lid closed, the Compact Kettle 47 measures 88 x 47 x 54 cm, and the E-5750 107 x 65 x 72 cm according to Weber. The CART-2 needs 114 x 73 cm with the side shelf unfolded.

How do you add charcoal and manage the heat?

Grate inserts that fold on both sides for adding charcoal are found on the NK22K-LEG-2, the CART-2 and the Master-Touch models. For the Bar-B-Kettle 57, Weber lists no grate flaps, and for the Compact Kettle 47, Weber lists no hinged grate. Our conclusion: there, you usually lift off the whole grate along with the food to add charcoal. On the Caldera Pro 57, according to the Enders review, the two charcoal baskets keep the embers where you want them. According to Enders they are included, whereas on the NK22K-LEG-2 the trays are optional only. Only the CART-2 has a cast iron grate in three heights, with which you change the distance to the embers.

On all of them you control the heat through the ventilation. Napoleon names no target temperature for long, low-heat cooking, so you find the vent setting yourself with the lid thermometer. Weber’s equipment list lacks such a thermometer only on the Compact Kettle 47. If you want to understand zones and grate height, read the guide on direct and indirect heat.

Do you need an accessory system?

The E-5750, E-5755 and C-5750 have a grate with a removable centre section for Weber’s GBS inserts, which cost extra. The Caldera Pro 57 relies on SWITCH GRID: Enders explicitly lists four inserts for it, pizza stone, pan, poultry roaster and wok. Enders gives no assurance that Weber inserts fit, and Napoleon does not say whether third-party accessories fit. For the Bar-B-Kettle 57, Weber lists no system at all. If you already own inserts, in our assessment you stay with the matching system.

What do you check before buying?

Match the item exactly. According to the Amazon catalogue, the Napoleon link leads to the NK22K-LEG-2 with a chrome-plated steel grate; a cast iron grate and three grate heights only come with the PRO22K-LEG-2. For the Bar-B-Kettle 57, weber.com/DE shows a different model under the same name than the Amazon listing.

The warranty depends on the manufacturer. Napoleon promises it only for purchases through an authorised dealer. According to the E-5750 review, Weber’s applies only to individual private households, not to rental properties or commercial use. For the Caldera Pro 57, according to the review only the statutory warranty is documented.

Also check whether the model is still listed. According to our review, Napoleon has taken the PRO22K-CART-2 out of its German range, and the warranty expressly does not oblige Napoleon to keep individual parts in stock. According to the review, Weber no longer lists the Master-Touch GBS C-5750 in its catalogue. In both cases, ask beforehand whether spare parts are available.

How this list was made

We have not handled any of these products ourselves. The basis is our individual reviews, which rely on manufacturer information, instruction manuals and retailer pages; where we make our own assessment, it says so there. The score is our editorial score from build quality, performance, handling and value for money, as described in the rating methodology.

This list includes only kettle grills whose review we have newly revised and which were in stock at at least one of our shops on 21 October 2026. Of these, we show the 8 with the highest overall score, in this order. We earn a commission on purchases made through our links, which varies in amount from shop to shop; it has no influence on the order.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is a 47 cm kettle grill enough, or do I need 57 cm?

That depends on the number of guests. According to Weber, the [Weber Compact Kettle 47](/reviews/weber-compact-kettle-47/) has 1,548 cm², room for 9 burgers and suits 4 to 6 people. According to Weber, the [Master-Touch GBS E-5750](/reviews/weber-master-touch-gbs/) has 2,342 cm² and suits 6 to 8 people. Our assessment: if you pile the charcoal on one side, only the charcoal-free part is left for indirect cooking, which favours the larger area.

What is the GBS system and do I need it?

GBS stands for Gourmet BBQ System. On the [Master-Touch GBS E-5750](/reviews/weber-master-touch-gbs/), the hinged grate has a removable centre section where you fit Weber's inserts, such as a griddle, poultry roaster or pizza stone. The inserts are not in the box, you buy them separately. If you never want to use them, you do not need the system and can look at the [Weber Bar-B-Kettle 57](/reviews/weber-bar-b-kettle-57/), for which Weber lists no accessory system.

Is there a kettle grill with a side shelf?

In this list, only the reviews of the [Napoleon PRO22K-CART-2](/reviews/napoleon-pro22k-cart-2/) list a side shelf: the cart has a folding stainless steel side shelf and an open shelf underneath, but no cabinet. According to our review, Napoleon no longer lists the model in its German range. The [Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2](/reviews/napoleon-pro22k-leg-2/) has no side shelf, so you need a table next to it for plates and tongs.

Which kettle grills come with charcoal baskets?

According to Enders, the [Enders Caldera Pro 57](/reviews/enders-caldera-pro-57/) includes two charcoal baskets. For the [Master-Touch GBS C-5750](/reviews/weber-master-touch-gbs-c5750/), the Weber product page names two charcoal baskets, and for the E-5750 two charcoal holders. For the [E-5755](/reviews/weber-master-touch-gbs-e5755/), it is unclear whether two baskets are included. On the [Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2](/reviews/napoleon-pro22k-leg-2/), charcoal trays are optional only and not included.

Do I have to buy a thermometer as well?

For the core temperature of the meat, yes, because a lid thermometer only shows the air temperature in the lid. On the [Enders Caldera Pro 57](/reviews/enders-caldera-pro-57/), according to the manual of the sister version 8090, it is hotter at the grate than in the lid, and Enders recommends a separate thermometer for low temperatures. For the [Weber Compact Kettle 47](/reviews/weber-compact-kettle-47/), Weber lists no lid thermometer at all.

How long does it take from lighting to grilling?

On the [Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2](/reviews/napoleon-pro22k-leg-2/), according to the manual, the charcoal is covered in light grey ash after around 20 minutes. On the [Master-Touch GBS E-5750](/reviews/weber-master-touch-gbs/), according to the manual, the grate preheats with the lid closed for 10 to 15 minutes once the charcoal is covered in white ash. Before the first use, the Napoleon should burn empty for about 30 minutes according to its manual, and the Weber manual states at least 30 minutes.

Which grate is better: cast iron, stainless steel or coated steel?

According to our Napoleon review, cast iron has plenty of mass, and the grate of the [Napoleon PRO22K-CART-2](/reviews/napoleon-pro22k-cart-2/) is also adjustable to three heights. The [Master-Touch GBS E-5755](/reviews/weber-master-touch-gbs-e5755/) and the [Enders Caldera Pro 57](/reviews/enders-caldera-pro-57/) have stainless steel. Our assessment: a cast iron grate mainly makes a difference when searing steaks hard, and hardly any with sausages and vegetables.
