We have not had the Weber Bar-B-Kettle 57, a charcoal kettle grill with a diameter of 57 cm, in our hands, and we have not grilled anything on it. This text compares data: Weber’s product pages and guides (checked on 6 October 2026), the Amazon catalogue (retrieved on 5 October 2026) and the data sheets of our reviews. Our own calculations and assessments are marked as such.
Which Bar-B-Kettle 57 is behind the Amazon link?
According to the Amazon catalogue, the Weber model 1502062 is stored under our ASIN (12 kg, built-in lid thermometer). The Bar-B-Kettle 57 on weber.com/DE, by contrast, has the number 1331004 and is a different grill.
Neither in the German Kettle category nor in the country list of the Weber product page does the number 1502062 appear for Germany; Weber lists it, among others, on the pages for Switzerland (in German), the Netherlands, Italy and Great Britain. The German-language details in this text come from the Swiss page; for dimensions, weight, vents, thermometer and warranty, the three other pages agree with it.
The German model 1331004 weighs 15.81 kg, costs €199.99 plus shipping and, according to Weber, has a removable aluminium ash catcher, a measuring cup for briquettes and two charcoal holders. No thermometer is listed in its equipment, and the page shows the button “Notify me”. Weber calls this model the starter for those moving up.
Weber’s pages do not link to Amazon; that the ASIN of this page belongs to the number 1502062 is therefore evidenced only by Amazon’s data field. If you look up the weight or price of the Amazon grill on weber.com/DE, you are reading the data of a different model, and only identical numbers can be compared.
On Amazon, the grill cost approx. €129 on 6 October 2026, with a struck-through price of €159.99 shown there. Weber itself charges €159.99 for item 1502062 in the Netherlands and Italy, £149.99 in Great Britain and CHF 199.00 in Switzerland, in each case including VAT.
Bowl, grate and frame
Bowl and lid are porcelain-enamelled, that is, coated with a glass-like layer that is fused onto the base metal at high temperature. Weber describes the enamel as resistant to rust, flaking and scratches and as heat-retaining; black is the only colour variant.
According to the specification table, the grate is made of coated steel. In the header row of the same page, however, the grates are listed as cast iron; the German-language Swiss page speaks of coated steel in the table and description (the English one of plated steel), and we follow the table. The equipment also includes a charcoal grate, a lower rack (a lower wire shelf) and an ash catcher which, according to Weber, protects the patio or floor.
For air control, the specification lists four rust-resistant aluminium vents. That fits the lid vent plus three vent openings on the bowl named in the description text; Amazon speaks of vent sliders on the bowl and lid. A lid thermometer is built in; it is the only entry under “what is included”. A lid hook hangs the lid on the bowl while grilling, two utensil holders sit on the bowl handle, and both handles are made of heat-resistant, glass-fibre-reinforced nylon.
The frame has three aluminium legs, which Weber calls rust-resistant, and two wheels, all-weather wheels at Weber.
With the lid closed, according to Weber the grill measures 100 cm in height, 57 cm in width and 63.5 cm in depth, and with the lid open 82.5 x 57 x 78.5 cm. Open, it is therefore 15 cm deeper and 17.5 cm lower (our own calculation). The weight is 12 kg; for the closed lid, the Amazon catalogue gives the same dimensions and the same weight, there in inches and pounds.
Weber states the cooking area as 2,342 cm², with room for 13 burgers. It is meant to be enough for six to eight people, according to the British Weber page and the Amazon text.
Air, charcoal and the two zones
A kettle grill controls its heat through air. The charcoal gets its oxygen through the openings on the bowl, and the hot gases escape through the lid vent. With all vents open, the charcoal burns hottest; the further you close them, the less oxygen reaches the embers. If all are shut, they go out, and that is also how you extinguish them: in its guide to charcoal grills, Weber advises closing the vents at the bottom and on the lid completely. Under the closed lid the heat circulates, and according to Weber (page of the German model) the food cooks from all sides.
With direct heat, the charcoal lies under the food; with indirect heat, it lies beside it, and the food sits over the empty area. That suits thick cuts that take a long time without burning on the outside; the rules for this are in our guide to direct and indirect heat. Weber describes the setup for charcoal grills in general like this: an aluminium drip tray goes in the middle on the lower level, with the charcoal to the left and right of it.
Our assessment of the area: If you cook indirectly, the food sits over the empty middle between two heaps of charcoal, and this zone is smaller than the whole area. Figures such as the 13 burgers therefore only allow limited planning for indirect cooking.
On the grate, a consideration from general physics: A solid cast iron grate stores more heat than a steel grate of lesser material thickness, and a grate with a lot of thermal mass loses less temperature after cold food is put on. With this coated steel grate, the difference depends on construction and material thickness.
How to weigh briquettes and lump charcoal against each other is explained in our guide charcoal or briquettes. Weber’s guide says that briquettes burn longer and suit slower grilling.
Can the Bar-B-Kettle go on the balcony?
This cannot be confirmed from Weber’s details. The product page has three warnings, but no minimum distance and nothing on balconies or roofing. We have not evaluated the instruction manual for charcoal grills; it may contain siting rules that we do not know.
The three notes on Weber’s product page, each with all details: Use outdoors only and read the manual before use; warning that exposed parts can become very hot; keep children away. Do not use methylated spirits or petrol to light or relight. Risk of carbon monoxide poisoning: do not operate the grill in enclosed spaces, only outdoors.
For the space required, the depth with the lid open matters most, 78.5 cm according to Weber. Whether charcoal is allowed where you live is decided by your tenancy agreement and house rules; for the legal situation and alternatives, there is the guide grilling on a balcony. Embers and flying sparks endanger flammable balcony screens and awnings with any charcoal grill, and the smoke can drift into neighbouring flats.
Care, manual and warranty
We did not find a user manual specifically for item 1502062, and we have not compared whether the assembly instructions for 47 and 57 cm match it. It is the only file at weber.com/DE under Bar-B-Kettle: 5.97 MB, dated 15 October 2018, 16 pages, only drawings and the note to read the user manual before use. The file names Weber-Stephen Products LLC in Palatine, Illinois (USA) as the designer.
Weber’s care guide applies to charcoal grills in general and not to this model in particular. For the grate, it provides for preheating the grill and removing food residue and surface rust with a wire brush.
The warranty table of the Swiss product page is staggered by component: bowl and lid 10 years against rusting through or burning through, plastic components 5 years (excluding fading and discolouration), a One-Touch cleaning system 5 years, all other parts 2 years. Two caveats: Weber does not list the One-Touch system in the equipment of this grill, and whether Weber Germany applies the same periods to a grill you buy from Amazon in Germany is not said by any of the pages we read. If you want to rely on the period, ask the seller beforehand, or Weber-Stephen Deutschland GmbH in Ingelheim.
Accessories to get started
On the German Weber page of the Bar-B-Kettle 57 (number 1331004), Weber recommends three additions: the Premium cover for €69.99, the Rapidfire lighting set for €29.99 and leather grill gloves for €34.99. Our assessment: The lighting set and gloves are accessories for any charcoal grill; for the cover, the fit for Ø 57 cm is what matters.

What else comes into question?
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weber Bar-B-Kettle 57 (this one) | Built-in lid thermometer and 4 aluminium vents according to the specification | approx. €129 | 8.7 | you want a 57 cm kettle grill from Weber with a thermometer |
| Weber Compact Kettle 57 | Same area and same weight; Weber lists no lid thermometer and, in the specification, only 1 aluminium vent | approx. €102 | 8.4 | you measure the temperature yourself anyway and want to save on the price |
| Enders Caldera Pro 57 | Two charcoal baskets and SWITCH-GRID centre element for accessories, grate area approx. 2,290 cm² | approx. €129 | 8.8 | you want to set up zones with charcoal baskets from the start |
| Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2 | Hinged grate inserts for adding charcoal, removable ash container | approx. €373 | 9.5 | you grill for long sessions and are willing to pay more for easier charcoal adding |
More 57 cm models are shown in the comparison of the best kettle grills 2026. The prices are guide values from the price boxes of our reviews, not manufacturer prices; the rating is our editorial assessment from manufacturer data and not a measurement result. The difference column follows the Weber pages for the Compact Kettle, and the review data for Enders and Napoleon.
Who is it for?
If you rarely host more than two people, you pay for area you do not use (our assessment). The Weber Bar-B-Kettle 47 has a diameter of 47 cm; on the German Weber page there are two 47 cm versions, number 1502055 for €109.99 and number 1231004 for €110.49.
If you want to grill spontaneously after work during the week, you are better served by gas or electric (our assessment; the guide gas or charcoal and the grill finder help with the choice), because charcoal needs lead time: the charcoal must be glowing through before food goes on the grate.
For low and slow, that is, cooking for hours at low temperature, what matters most in our assessment is how charcoal can be added. If you regularly stand at the grill for hours, look at the models with charcoal baskets or hinged grate inserts from the table.
On mobility: Weber calls the grill easy to move on its two wheels, and it weighs 3.81 kg less than the German model 1331004 (our own calculation from 15.81 and 12 kg).
If you want to add accessories later, this item is the wrong advice: Weber does not list a GBS system in its equipment. The Weber Master-Touch GBS E-5750 carries the system in its name and appears in our data sheets at approx. €329 (this grill: approx. €129) and a rating of 9.1.
