We have not handled the Caldera Pro 57, a charcoal kettle grill from Enders, and have not grilled anything on it. The information comes from the Enders product page for item number 80912, from the Enders 2026 catalogue (page 86), from the Amazon listing and from a manual that belongs to a sister version. Where a detail comes only from there, we say so. We read the manufacturer pages on 6 October 2026.

Which Caldera Pro this is

Enders offers the Caldera Pro series in two sizes, 57 and 47. This page is about the 57 with item number 80912, which Enders offers in only one version; Amazon gives the colour as black. The ASIN of this page, B0H1N32SJS, belongs to model number 80912 according to the Amazon listing, and the assignment rests on this information.

Important up front: for the 80912, Enders offers no manual to download. The only manual we could find is the one for the Caldera Pro with item number 8090, which ALDI and ManualsLib provide. Design, grate diameter, charcoal baskets, lid holder and ash catcher match after comparing the product page and the manual, but the figures do not: the 8090 measures 57 x 66 x 104 cm, has a working height of 85 cm and weighs 11.8 kg. We therefore take only notes on operation, safety and care from this manual. They appear in the sections on ventilation, lighting and safety, and each of these sections names the 8090 as the source. Dimensions, weight, capacity and warranty of this version apply to it alone.

Behind the name stands Enders Colsman AG from Werdohl; according to Enders, every grill goes through a testing process during development at the Werdohl site.

Bowl, grate and frame

The bowl, which Enders calls the Kugel (sphere), is enamelled. The Amazon product photo shows a round bowl, two wheels and a triangular wire shelf between the legs. According to Enders the legs are stainless steel, and there are outdoor wheels for moving it.

The grate is stainless steel, measures 54 cm in diameter and carries the SWITCH GRID: a removable round element that you swap for inserts (this is how the 8090 manual describes it). What the 57 in the name stands for is not stated anywhere in the documents we read, so a bowl diameter of 57 cm is not documented. Enders gives the grilling area as 2,290 cm², and the sum checks out: π x (27 cm)² is around 2,290 cm².

Two vent sliders regulate the heat, and a thermometer sits in the lid (the Amazon title mentions the lid thermometer). Two charcoal baskets are included; the catalogue lists them as charcoal containers for indirect grilling. The ash catcher is removable and enamelled, and the bowl has a lid holder for hanging the lid when it is off.

The catalogue gives W 68 x D 73 x H 108 cm, plus 12.9 kg and a working height of 78 cm. The Amazon data, converted from inches and pounds, gives 108.0 x 68.0 x 73.0 cm and 12.9 kg. On the photo, wheels and handles sit at the edge, so allow some extra room for where you place it.

In detail: air in at the bottom, air out at the top

According to the 8090 manual, the lower vent slots regulate the air intake and the upper ones the exhaust; you control the temperature mainly with the lower ones. With the lid vent and the lower regulator fully open, a chimney effect arises with more air and a higher temperature. Half-open upper slots keep smoke and heat in the bowl, which lets you smoke meat or fish. If you close either slider, the temperature drops, and over time the fuel goes out through lack of oxygen.

Why each of the two sliders restricts the whole airflow: the air is drawn through the bowl, and what cannot escape at the top does not flow in at the bottom. It can take up to 15 minutes for an adjusted slider to affect the heat in the grill, according to the manual. In our assessment it follows that you should adjust in small steps and wait before adjusting further.

The two charcoal baskets keep the embers where you want them. For indirect grilling, the folding sides of the grate sit directly above the baskets according to the manual; to add fuel you fold them up. The food sits in the middle, beside the embers. An aluminium tray can stand between the baskets to catch dripping juices. Filled with water, it keeps the temperature constant for dishes with long cooking times according to the manual, and the evaporating water prevents the meat from drying out. How zones are set up in a kettle grill in general is explained in the guide Direct and indirect heat.

Lighting and preheating

Before lighting, according to the 8090 manual, you take out the grill grate and open the lower vent regulator fully. Whichever lighting method you use, the charcoal baskets go into the grill bowl on the charcoal grate before lighting. With a chimney starter, you put some scrunched-up newspaper or a few firelighters in the middle of the charcoal grate and place the chimney over them; it stays there until all the charcoal is lit and covered with white ash. Without a chimney, you pile the charcoal into a pyramid in the middle and put a few firelighters into it.

In this manual, methylated spirits and petrol are forbidden for lighting and relighting; only firelighters complying with EN 1860-3 (which applies in the EU) are permitted. Food may go on the grate only when all the charcoal is covered with a layer of white ash. Then you insert the grate, put the lid on and preheat the grate for 10 to 15 minutes with the vent slots fully open. The charcoal should lie neither near the handle of the grill bowl nor directly under the lid thermometer and lid vent.

Before the first grilling, Enders recommends in the same manual that you heat the grill and let the fuel glow for at least 30 minutes with the lid closed, so that production residues burn away. If the charcoal does not glow through, first check whether the vent sliders are fully closed.

Safety and care according to the 8090 manual

We have compiled the notes close to the wording, without reproducing the manual in full. They appear on page 1 and pages 9 to 14 of the manual for the Caldera Pro with item number 8090.

Location and fuel

Do not operate the grill in enclosed or habitable spaces: the manual names buildings, tents, caravans, motorhomes and boats and warns of danger to life from carbon monoxide poisoning. It belongs outdoors only and must stand on stable, level ground during use. Keep a safe distance from flammable and heat-sensitive materials. Children and pets stay away. The grill may be operated only with charcoal or charcoal briquettes complying with DIN EN 1860-2 (which applies in Germany), never with liquid fuel, for safety reasons.

While grilling

The whole grill gets very hot, including handles and vent sliders, and it must not be moved during use. Never touch metal parts with bare hands during use. When grilling, preparing and adding charcoal, you wear barbecue gloves complying with DIN EN 407 (which applies in Germany), along with barbecue tools with long, heat-resistant handles. Never leave the hot grill unattended, and keep sprays away from it. Once lit, do not take glowing charcoal out of the grill bowl or the charcoal baskets. Before each use, check whether any assembly connection has come loose.

Afterwards

To extinguish, you close both vent sliders. Empty the ash catcher after every use and make sure no embers remain in it; burnt charcoal belongs only in containers made of metal or other non-flammable materials. You must not transport the grill while warm, and you clean it only once it has cooled down completely. The manual names one exception, for the grill grate alone: you can brush it down with a stainless steel brush while hot.

Clean everything after each use, without abrasive or chlorine-containing agents and without flammable cleaning agents; afterwards you dry the surface with a soft cloth. Remove grease deposits regularly to avoid grease fires, especially on the grill grate, the charcoal grate, the charcoal baskets and the grill bowl. Before each use, remove ash and old charcoal residues from the bottom of the grill bowl; also remove ash regularly so that the vent slots do not clog. Charcoal baskets, ash catcher and grates can be cleaned with mild detergent and warm water; afterwards the grill must dry completely before the next use. Tighten the screws regularly so the grill stands securely. Store it in a frost-free, dry room, covered against dirt and damage.

What does the Caldera Pro 57 cost with accessories?

The grill costs approx. €129 at Amazon (as of 5 October 2026), exactly the Enders RRP. If you add the chimney starter (RRP €19.99) and pizza stone (RRP €44.95), it comes to around €194, before charcoal and barbecue gloves.

Besides the pizza stone, the product page for the 80912 lists three more SWITCH GRID inserts, each as RRP: pan for €49.95, poultry roaster for €39.95 and wok for €59.90. In the accessories category there are also the Sear Grate for €39.95 and the Dutch oven for €89.90, there without assignment to a grill. Amazon counts both among the inserts for this grill; the 8090 manual shows the Sear Grate, not the Dutch oven. So Enders explicitly names four of the six for the 80912.

Enders lists the chimney starter as an accessory at an RRP of €19.99. Because it has its own price, in our assessment we count it as an extra purchase (for the scope of delivery, see the list below). Charcoal or briquettes are an ongoing cost; what suits what is covered in the guide Charcoal or briquettes.

What Enders does not state

In the product page, catalogue and guarantee documents we searched in vain for:

  • Material of bowl and lid beneath the enamel (steel is not stated anywhere), wall thickness, type of enamel
  • Bowl diameter and the meaning of the 57 in the name
  • Measurement conditions of the catalogue dimensions (with or without handles and wheels)
  • Material of charcoal baskets, charcoal grate, wheels and wheel caps
  • Measuring range and accuracy of the thermometer
  • Maximum temperature, heat-up time, charcoal consumption per hour and burn time of one load
  • Charcoal capacity
  • Number of people, steaks or burgers the grilling area suits
  • Number of wheels
  • Assembly time
  • Scope of delivery in detail: chimney starter, cover, assembly tools
  • A matching cover or weather protection hood from Enders for this series (the Enders search shows none with Caldera Pro)
  • Folding side sections on the grate of the 80912
  • Minimum distances in centimetres and a statement on balconies
  • Guarantee period of the Caldera Pro 57
  • A test mark assigned to the model (the GS logo on catalogue page 86 has no discernible assignment)
  • Country of production and year of release
  • Spare parts for the 80912 (the spare parts shop exists, but the list for the 80912 could not be retrieved without an item number search)
  • Compatibility of the inserts with Weber GBS or other systems

What else is worth considering?

Model The difference Price Our rating Choose this if
Enders Caldera Pro 57 (this one) Stainless steel grate with SWITCH GRID, two charcoal baskets included approx. €129 8.8 you want to add inserts later and your budget is close to €130
Weber Bar-B-Kettle 57 2,342 cm² grilling area and 12 kg according to Weber, built-in lid thermometer approx. €129 8.7 you do not want to add inserts and prefer to stay with Weber
Weber Master-Touch GBS E-5750 GBS instead of SWITCH GRID, grate made of coated steel approx. €329 9.1 you already own GBS inserts from Weber
Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2 Bowl and lid porcelain-enamelled, hinged grate inserts approx. €373 9.5 you are willing to pay around €244 more and want to add charcoal without removing the grate

The prices are guide values from the data sheets of our reviews and may differ from the current offer. The rating is our editorial assessment based on manufacturer data, not a measurement result, and the second column names only the point most likely to tip the choice, not the full equipment.

When the Caldera Pro 57 suits and when another does

Compared with the Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2, it is an advantage of the Enders that two charcoal baskets are in the box: the Napoleon manual names charcoal baskets for indirect cooking only as an option, and they are not included. The Napoleon costs approx. €373 in our price box, so €244 more than the Enders, and has the highest rating of the three alternatives. If you mostly grill directly, you get less from the baskets, and then the rest decides: with the Napoleon, the €244 buys a porcelain-enamelled bowl and lid as well as hinged grate inserts.

The Master-Touch GBS E-5750 costs approx. €329 according to our price box, around €200 more than the Enders. If you already have Weber inserts, the Enders is a risk, because Enders says nothing about whether Weber accessories fit its own grate. Without such inserts the sum looks different: for that extra cost you would get all four inserts from the Enders product page, together €194.75 RRP. According to Weber, the Master-Touch has one-touch cleaning with a closed aluminium ash pan; its grate is made of coated steel, whereas the Enders is stainless steel.

The Weber Bar-B-Kettle 57 costs approx. €129 at Amazon, about as much as the Enders. The difference we see in the data: Weber lists no accessory system for this item. With one of the four inserts (RRP €39.95 to €59.90), the Enders therefore costs more than the Weber.

On weight, at 12.9 kg the Enders is below the two more expensive alternatives: the Master-Touch weighs 21 kg according to Weber, the Napoleon 20 kg according to the Napoleon 2023 catalogue, so the Enders is around 7 to 8 kg lighter. On grilling area, the two are only slightly larger at 2,342 and 2,356 cm² according to the manufacturers.

Charcoal needs lead time, from lighting to the layer of white ash. If you want to grill spontaneously after work on a weekday, in our assessment gas serves you better; the trade-off is covered in the guide Gas or charcoal grill, and the Grill Finder narrows it down based on your answers. For the additional grill thermometer for long cooking times, the grill thermometer buying guide lists selection criteria.

If you are looking for a height-adjustable charcoal tray, look at the Payton XL from the same maker: Enders lists this tray and fold-down side shelves for it, the RRP is €149.00, so €20 above the Caldera Pro 57, with 2,117 cm² of grilling area.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Enders Caldera Pro 57

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for Enders Caldera Pro 57.

Do Weber GBS inserts fit the grate of the Caldera Pro 57?

That cannot be answered, because Enders lists only its own SWITCH GRID inserts, four in the catalogue with item numbers 7793, 7792, 7790 and 7797. According to the 8090 manual, the removable round element of the grate measures Ø 308 mm; on the 80912 this may differ. If you own GBS inserts, compare their size against this reference point and clarify the fit before buying instead of assuming it.

How does the Caldera Pro 57 differ from the smaller Caldera Pro 47?

According to the Enders 2026 catalogue, the 47 has a grilling area of 1,521 cm² with a 44 cm grate diameter, weighs 10.3 kg and measures W 64 x D 66 x H 98 cm with a working height of 75 cm. The equipment is the same: SWITCH GRID, two vent sliders, two charcoal containers, enamelled ash catcher. The RRP of €99.90 is €29.10 below that of the 57. Per square centimetre of grate area, based on the RRP, the 57 is cheaper at 5.6 cents than the 47 at 6.6 cents.

How much charcoal can I put in the Caldera Pro 57?

The 8090 manual sets a maximum of 1.3 kg of charcoal or briquettes according to DIN EN 1860-2 (which applies in Germany) and gives the same figure as the capacity. In practice the manual implies this: once lit, you must not take glowing charcoal out of the grill bowl or charcoal baskets, so you decide the amount before lighting.

Can I use the Caldera Pro 57 on a balcony?

That is decided by your tenancy agreement and house rules, or for owned property the community rules; Enders itself says nothing about balconies. The 8090 manual requires use outdoors only. Pouring the embers out of the chimney starter can throw sparks, and the chimney handle gets very hot; on a balcony with furniture, an awning or plants this matters more than in a garden. You should clarify whether open fire is allowed there at all before buying, not after assembly.

Is the lid thermometer enough if I want to cook for a long time at low temperature?

Only to a limited extent for precise control: the thermometer shows the temperature in the lid, and directly at the grate it is hotter according to the 8090 manual. For low temperatures Enders recommends a separate grill thermometer with individually positionable temperature probes. For indirect grilling, the built-in thermometer should not sit directly above the charcoal, so that it is not exposed to direct heat. In our assessment, a second probe is the safer choice for long cooking times.

What warranty does the Caldera Pro 57 have?

Only the statutory warranty is documented. Enders grants a voluntary manufacturer's guarantee for selected grills and requires registration within three months of purchase as well as the original proof of purchase. The 2026 guarantee terms divide their component table into gas grills, electric grills and camping; charcoal grills do not appear in it. The exclusions include normal wear such as rust formation, colour fading, scratches or dents that do not affect function.

Do I need tools for assembly, and how long does it take?

According to the 8090 manual, you should have a Phillips screwdriver and open-end spanners in sizes 8, 10, 13 and 14 ready. The manual recommends two people and a level work surface of about two to three square metres. You tighten all screws only after assembly, and because parts can have sharp edges, gloves are part of the job.
