Our assessment: the E-5755 suits you if you alternate between direct and indirect grilling at 57 cm and want a stainless steel grate whose centre section takes GBS inserts. If the seller does not promise the baskets, budget €29.99 for a basket set. If you often cook for many hours at low temperature, check the E-5770; if you can live with coated steel, check the E-5750.

In brief9.0/10

The E-5755 is Weber's 57 cm kettle grill with a hinged stainless steel grate, GBS centre section, Tuck-Away lid holder and One-Touch cleaning. According to the manual, the grate material is what separates it from the E-5750: stainless steel instead of coated steel. In the Weber shop it costs €349 (as of 05.10.2026).

We have not had the Master-Touch GBS E-5755, a Weber charcoal kettle grill with a 57 cm diameter, in our hands and have not grilled anything on it. The information comes from Weber’s pages (retrieved 05.10.2026: product, warranty, quality, accessories and spare parts), user manual 69137, assembly instructions 54764 and the catalogue entry on Amazon. Where two sources contradict each other, we say so.

One grill with two names and two prices

The German Weber shop lists it as the Master-Touch GBS E-5755 charcoal grill Ø 57 cm, item number 14801004, and black is the only colour there. The Amazon listing that we link to is called “Weber Master-Touch GBS SE E-5755 Holzkohlegrill Black” (ASIN B07Y4X5HTL, Special Edition) and carries the same part number. Manual 69137 of 31.10.2018 also refers to the SE E-5755 and covers four models at once: E-5750, C-5750, SE E-5755 and SE C-5755.

On price, two figures sit side by side. In its own shop, Weber asks €349.00 including VAT, plus shipping (as of 05.10.2026). On Amazon there is no offer from Amazon itself under this number; on 06.10.2026 a marketplace seller offered the grill for €379.48, around €30 more than Weber.

Bowl, grate and chassis

Bowl and lid are made of porcelain-enamelled steel. We could not verify what Weber promises here: according to the manual, the surface reflects heat and allows cooking with convection heat, and the coating never flakes off. On the quality page, Weber describes thick-walled, low-carbon steel for lid and bowl, onto which the enamel is fired at 870 °C; heat-related flaking is said to be impossible with proper handling.

The food sits on a hinged stainless steel cooking grate with Gourmet BBQ System (GBS), as Weber’s product page puts it. So the grate is not cast iron. Both sides can be folded up so that you can add fuel. According to the manual, you remove the centre section when an insert is to go in; named are a searing grate, a poultry roaster and a pizza stone, all available separately. If the grate is not in the bowl, you hang it on the curved hooks on the bowl; the manual, which covers four models, describes the centre section and hooks as model dependent. Weber puts the entire grilling area at 2,342 cm².

Below the grate is the charcoal grate made of solid steel, which according to Weber neither burns through nor warps. Under the bowl hangs a large, removable aluminium ash catcher, fully enclosed so that no ash is blown around; to remove it, you squeeze its lever. The stainless steel One-Touch cleaning system consists of three blades in the bowl. If you move the handle back and forth, they push the ash into the catcher.

To grill, you slide the lid sideways into the Tuck-Away holder. According to the manual, you must not use the holder as a handle to lift or move the grill. The lid handle has a heat shield, the bowl handle is made of glass-reinforced nylon, and there are also two tool holders, which the manual describes as hooks on the handle. The thermometer is built into the lid, and the lid vent is made of rust-resistant aluminium.

The product photo shows a round bowl on three legs with two wheels and a grid shelf at the bottom. The wheels are moulded all-weather rubber wheels of 20 cm, and Weber counts a spring clip and retaining pin as part of the leg assembly. With the lid closed, the grill measures 107 cm in height, 65 cm in width and 72 cm in depth according to Weber; with the lid open it is 118 cm high and 76 cm deep. Weber states 21 kg.

Assembly instructions 54764 consist almost entirely of pictures: parts overview, step diagrams, tool symbols. They refer to the free BILT app with 3D instructions and require the fasteners to be tightened securely, but not too tightly.

In the documents available to us, Weber gives no information on:

  • The meaning of the SE suffix (Amazon and the manual use it, Weber’s German product page does not)
  • Measuring range and accuracy of the lid thermometer
  • Maximum temperature of the grill
  • Grate dimensions, diameter of the centre section and height of the grate level
  • Material of the bottom grid and legs, and steel thickness of bowl and lid
  • Capacity of the ash catcher
  • Time until the charcoal is ready for grilling and charcoal consumption per hour
  • Assembly time and number of people needed for setup
  • Year of market launch, country of origin and place of production (the manual only names design and construction by Weber-Stephen Products LLC in Palatine, Illinois)
  • Delivery period for spare parts, and the hinged cooking grate that fits the E-5755 as a spare part
  • Part names and order numbers in the exploded drawing on page 15 of the manual, which only numbers the parts
  • Fit of GBS inserts in grates from other manufacturers, such as the Napoleon grate

In detail: air, zones and smoking

More air means more heat, which is how the manual sums up temperature control. For direct grilling, you open the lid vent and bowl openings fully. For indirect cooking or smoking at lower temperatures, you close both to halfway. If you close both completely, the charcoal gets no oxygen and goes out. On the E-5755, the bowl openings are the blades of the One-Touch system: open, they let oxygen reach the embers; closed, the embers are easier to extinguish. As a guide value, Weber gives 260 °C under the lid once all the charcoal is glowing red.

According to Weber, the easiest way to light the charcoal is with the Rapidfire chimney starter, available separately. Without a chimney, you stack the charcoal in a pyramid in the middle of the charcoal grate and tuck in a few firelighter cubes. The cubes must be completely burnt before food goes on the grate.

For direct heat, you spread the charcoal evenly over the whole charcoal grate, insert the cooking grate once the charcoal is covered in ash, and preheat with the lid closed for 10 to 15 minutes. Weber assigns food that needs under 20 minutes to this zone: hamburgers, steaks, chops, kebabs, boneless chicken pieces, fish fillets, seafood and sliced vegetables. For the 57 cm bowl, the table specifies 30 Weber briquettes, 40 other charcoal briquettes, 1¾ measuring cups of beech charcoal (0.98 kg) or 1¼ measuring cups of charcoal from mixed woods. If too many flare-ups occur, you temporarily move the food to an indirect side and keep the lid closed.

Indirect cooking suits everything with a cooking time of 20 minutes or more and anything delicate that would dry out over the embers: roasts, bone-in poultry pieces, tender fish fillets, whole chickens, whole turkeys and ribs. The charcoal goes on two opposite sides of the grate, loose or in charcoal baskets (more on this in the next section), and not near the handles or under the thermometer and lid vent. A drip pan can stand between them. You insert the grate so that its flaps are over the embers, and the food goes in the middle. You put the lid on so that the thermometer is not directly above the charcoal. The table for this zone counts per side: with Weber briquettes 15 for the first hour and 4 for each further hour, with other briquettes 20 and 7, and with beech charcoal or mixed charcoal half a measuring cup and then a handful per hour.

Weber advertises a new smoking setting for low and slow on the E-5755. The manual describes it on page 6 as ventilation openings in the bowl that let in exactly the right amount of air for smoking; according to the manual, it is present depending on the model. The procedure from page 12: you prepare the grill as for indirect grilling, use long tongs to lift the hinged part of the grate, and place 2 to 4 wood chunks or a handful of smoking chips on the embers (for choosing woods, see the guide Smoking on the grill). Then you close the lid and push the One-Touch lever to the smoking position. Once the lid thermometer shows the smoking range, 95 to 135 °C according to the manual, you hold the temperature with the lid vent: opening raises it, closing lowers it.

Are there two charcoal baskets in the box?

This cannot be confirmed for the E-5755. Weber’s German product page does not mention charcoal holders or Char-Baskets in any list; only the Amazon bullet list for the SE version names “Holzkohlekörbe Char-Basket 2”.

For the E-5750, by contrast, Weber lists 2 charcoal holders in the product details, without saying whether they correspond to the Char-Baskets sold separately. The British page for the E-5755 lists the baskets as an accessory for £29.99, and they are missing from the “What’s Included” list. The German category page counts Char-Baskets for charcoal as part of the equipment of the entire Master-Touch range, without singling out a model. The manual knows them as CHAR-BASKET and names them as an alternative to piling the charcoal loose: two baskets stand on opposite sides of the charcoal grate before lighting, and a chimney starter then stands between them.

We would not count on baskets being included unless the seller promises them; price and dimensions of a set bought separately are in the FAQ.

Safety, cleaning and warranty according to the manual

Weber puts the following ahead of the safety instructions on page 2: anyone who ignores the notices marked DANGER, WARNING and CAUTION risks serious or fatal injury or property damage from fires or explosions, and all of them are to be read before use. We reproduce them ordered by situation rather than by warning level. The note on the Tuck-Away holder is above, in the description of the lid.

Where the grill may stand

You use the grill only outdoors in a well-ventilated area, never in garages, buildings, covered walkways or other enclosed areas. Toxic gases collect indoors; in enclosed or habitable spaces such as buildings, tents, caravans, motorhomes or on boats, there is a danger to life from carbon monoxide poisoning. The grill must never serve as a heater, and it is not suitable for installation in or on caravans or boats. It needs a safe, level surface, never stands on a glass surface or combustible surface, and never under a combustible structure. Nothing combustible may lie within 1.5 m; as an example, Weber names parts made of (treated) wood on a patio or veranda. Flammable gases and liquids such as petrol or alcohol and other combustible materials have no place in the grilling area. In strong wind the grill stays off. You keep electrical cables away from the hot surfaces and route them so that they are not in the way.

Lighting

The charcoal always lies on the charcoal grate, never directly on the bottom of the bowl. To light and relight, you use neither methylated spirit nor petrol, alcohol or other volatile liquids; only firelighters complying with EN 1860-3 (a European standard that applies in the EU) are permitted. Weber advises against liquid lighter fluid and does not include instructions for it in the manual: impractical, and it can give the food a chemical-like taste, whereas firelighter cubes are better. If you use it anyway, you follow the manufacturer’s instructions and never add lighter fluid or charcoal soaked in it to warm or hot charcoal; you close the bottle immediately and put it down at a safe distance from the grill. Beforehand you check the ash catcher: liquid can drip through the ventilation openings in the bowl, collect there and cause a fire when lighting, so it has to come out. The grill goes into operation only when all parts are fitted correctly and it has been assembled according to the assembly instructions, and only with the ash catcher fitted. Food goes on the grate only when the fuel is covered with a layer of ash.

While grilling

The grill gets very hot and must not be moved during use; it is never left unattended, and you proceed with great care when grilling and cleaning. Children and pets stay away. When lighting and operating, you do not wear clothing with loose sleeves. You never check by touch whether the cooking grate, charcoal grate, ash, charcoal or the grill itself are hot. Heat-resistant grill gloves with contact heat resistance level 2 or higher according to DIN EN 407 (the standard that applies in Germany and the EU) belong on your hands when you grill, adjust the vents, add charcoal, use the thermometer and open or close the lid. The grill tools need long, heat-resistant handles. You use water neither against flare-ups nor to extinguish the charcoal. Aluminium foil does not belong in the bowl because it disrupts the air supply; a drip pan catches the juices during indirect cooking. According to Weber, alcohol as well as prescription and over-the-counter medicines can impair the ability to assemble and operate the grill safely.

Extinguishing, ash and care

To extinguish, you close the lid vent and bowl openings and then the lid. You remove ash only when all the charcoal has burnt out and gone out and the grill has cooled down, and you may dispose of it only when it is completely extinguished. Hot charcoal never belongs where someone can step on it or where it poses a fire hazard. You store the grill only when ash and charcoal are completely extinguished.

Before each use, you remove ash and old charcoal from the bottom of the bowl and from the ash catcher so that air can circulate, and even that only when nothing is glowing any more and the grill has cooled down completely. Before the first grilling, you heat the grill and let the charcoal glow strongly with the lid closed for at least 30 minutes so that production residues burn away. Lacquer-like flakes in the lid are carbon from vaporised fat and smoke: you loosen them with a stainless steel grill brush and wipe the inside of the lid with a kitchen towel after grilling, while it is warm but not hot. In harsh surroundings (acid rain, chemicals, salt water), you clean the outside more often with warm soapy water, rinse it off and dry it thoroughly; sharp-edged objects and abrasive cleaners stay away from every surface. According to Weber’s advice, oil belongs on the food rather than on the grate. You check grill brushes regularly for loose bristles and wear and replace them if bristles are loose; at the start of each grilling season, Weber recommends a new brush with stainless steel bristles. So that the ventilation openings do not clog, you remove the ash regularly.

Warranty

Weber’s manufacturer’s warranty is voluntary and free of charge, and statutory warranty rights remain unaffected; the manual points to two years from handover in the EU. The product page grades it by component: bowl and lid 10 years and the One-Touch cleaning system 5 years, both against rusting through or burning through, plastic components 5 years (excluding fading and discolouration), all other parts 2 years. Two periods are possible for the stainless steel grate. The product page does not list it separately; in our reading, it belongs to the other parts with 2 years. The 2018 manual, by contrast, has its own line for stainless steel components with 5 years against rusting through or burning through, which is missing from today’s product page and the warranty page.

The warranty applies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and only to the original purchaser; it is not transferable, except in the case of a gift or a promotional offer. According to the manual, it applies only to single private households, not to commercial or municipal use and not to multi-unit settings such as restaurants, hotels, resorts or rental properties. Weber counts cosmetic or other minor deterioration such as surface rust, dents and scratches as normal wear and tear. A warranty case is a substantial defect: rusting through or burning through of certain components, or damage that makes safe use impossible.

The warranty can lapse in the case of damage from misuse, improper use, alteration, use for other purposes, wilful damage, neglect, incorrect assembly or installation and lack of regular maintenance, from insects and rodents, from salty air or chlorine sources such as swimming pools and whirlpools, from extreme weather such as hail, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, storm surges, tornadoes or severe storms, and from parts that are not genuine Weber parts. If you live on the coast or keep the grill near a pool, you have to clean and rinse the outer surface regularly. Weber repairs or replaces the defective component.

Accessories and running costs

Inserts for the GBS centre section are not in the box. On 05.10.2026, the Weber shop lists eight: a sear grate and a plancha for €64.99 each, together for €84.99, a glazed pizza stone for €69.99, a poultry holder for €79.99, a 2-in-1 Dutch oven for €159.99, a trivet for €42.49 and a grate lifter for €29.99. All eight are listed by Weber under GBS inserts, intended for grates with Gourmet BBQ System.

The grill’s product page also shows the premium cover for €69.99 and the Rapidfire starter set for €29.99. When you buy the grill, Weber takes 10 percent off the matching cover in the basket, which then costs €62.99. Grill, cover and starter set together: €441.98 in the Weber shop (as of 05.10.2026). On the care page, Weber recommends a cover as protection against dust, moisture and scratches.

Weber sells spare parts individually (as of 05.10.2026): the charcoal grate for €36.99, the One-Touch cleaning system set for €41.49 and hinged cooking grates in several variants for €54.59 to €79.99. Running costs add charcoal, firelighter cubes and a brush with stainless steel bristles, as well as grill gloves of the protection level that the manual requires.

The prices come from the data sheets of our reviews and are guide values, not offers; the rating is our editorial assessment from manufacturer data, and we measured nothing. In the Weber shop, the E-5750, E-5755 and E-5770, by contrast, cost €299, €349 and €399 (as of 05.10.2026), so the gaps there differ from the table.

When the E-5755 suits and when it does not

Compared with the E-5750, the grate material speaks for the E-5755. Both product pages give the same area, weight and dimensions, and in the Weber shop the E-5755 costs €50 more. Our assessment, derived from general materials science: the extra cost is worthwhile if a grate without a coating is worth the extra cost to you, because stainless steel needs no protective layer, whereas with a coated grate, bare steel is exposed after a scratch.

If you often want to cook for many hours at low temperature, then in our assessment you should look at the Master-Touch Premium E-5770: in the Weber shop it costs €399, €50 more than the E-5755. On the E-5755, six hours of indirect cooking according to Weber’s table works out arithmetically at 35 Weber briquettes per side, 70 in total.

The Napoleon NK22K-LEG-2 is the overall winner of our kettle grill ranking, rated 9.5, and has a grate made of chrome-plated steel. If you do not need Weber inserts, you can consider it instead of the E-5755. At approx. €373, however, our Napoleon review advises the Weber Original Kettle Premium 57 for approx. €249 and would buy the Napoleon only if it costs no more than that, and then only from an authorised Napoleon dealer. The comparison of the best kettle grills 2026 shows further models.

The wrong choice is a charcoal grill for anyone who wants to grill spontaneously after work on weekdays. On top of the 10 to 15 minutes that the grate preheats according to the manual comes the time until all the charcoal is covered in white ash. Whether a gas or electric grill suits you better is something the Grill Finder narrows down. If you want to set up the E-5755 on a balcony, first read our guide Grilling on a balcony and check your tenancy agreement and house rules.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Weber Master-Touch GBS E-5755

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for Weber Master-Touch GBS E-5755.

How much do charcoal baskets cost if none are included?

Weber sells the Char-Baskets as a set of two baskets for €29.99 including VAT. They are made of aluminised steel, the page gives 7.9 x 9.1 x 36 cm (height, width, depth; it does not say whether this is per basket) and lists Weber charcoal grills of 47, 57 and 67 cm as compatible. On 05.10.2026 it showed “Notify me” instead of the add-to-basket button, so the set could not be ordered there.

How many people is the cooking area enough for?

For about 6 to 8 people: that is the number Weber gives for the E-5750, which has the same area of 2,342 cm². If you divide the area by both numbers, you get about 290 to 390 cm² per person (our own calculation). With the lid closed, the food also has to fit on the grate, and the manual requires 2.5 cm of clearance between it and the lid.

Can I use the E-5755 on a balcony?

Only if your balcony meets Weber's setup rules: outdoors, well ventilated, not under a combustible structure, nothing combustible within 1.5 m. This clearance is added to the overall dimensions of 65 x 72 cm (width x depth with the lid closed), which gives a free area of about 3.65 x 3.72 m, our extrapolation. Whether charcoal is allowed where you live is something you clarify with your tenancy agreement, house rules and local regulations.

How much charcoal do I need for a three-hour roast?

With Weber briquettes, the table for indirect heat gives 23 per side (15 plus twice 4), 46 in total. With other charcoal briquettes it is 34 per side (20 plus twice 7), 68 in total, so almost half as much again. With beech charcoal or mixed charcoal, you add a handful per side for each further hour after the first half measuring cup. Weber includes the measuring cup with the grill.

Which wood can I use for smoking?

The manual names hickory, pecan, mesquite, alder, maple, cherry and apple and describes the properties and suitable foods for each wood. You avoid soft, resinous woods such as pine, cedar and poplar, and you never use wood that has been treated or exposed to chemicals. For long smoking times, Weber advises wood chunks instead of chips; chips can be soaked beforehand for longer smoking.

How do I make a warranty claim?

Through Weber's complaint form: you describe the damage, give the serial number and upload proof of purchase and photos. According to the manual, the serial number is on the lid vent. Alternatively, you write to Weber-Stephen Deutschland GmbH, Rheinstr. 194, 55218 Ingelheim. Weber recommends registering the grill for faster handling, and you should keep the proof of purchase in any case.

Is the grill on Amazon the same as in the Weber shop?

Very likely, but it is not proven. The part number 14801004, dimensions and cooking area match, but Weber does not link to Amazon on any Master-Touch page. Two catalogue fields differ: the weight works out from 55.1 pounds to 25.0 kg, while Weber states 21 kg, and the model field reads “Master-Touch Premium SE”, although Weber lists the Premium line as the E-5770.

Does an iGrill thermometer fit the E-5755?

Possibly, but it is not confirmed: the manual describes a magnetic iGrill mount for iGrill Mini or iGrill 2 with room for up to 4 probes and says it depends on the model. Weber's page for the E-5755 does not list it, while the Amazon bullet list names it as a feature. As a spare part, Weber sells an iGrill holder for charcoal grills of 47, 57 and 67 cm from 2011 (€13.59, as of 05.10.2026); the spare parts page does not name the E-5755. You buy the thermometers separately.
