Our assessment: the BBQ-Toro Gastrobräter suits anyone who regularly caters for larger groups, whether at family celebrations, buffets or camping trips with several people. The three burners and the scope of delivery with grate, flame tamer, grease tray, pressure regulator and gas hose cover the appliance itself, and you only need to add a gas cylinder and a stable table. For a small barbecue evening for two, on the other hand, it is simply too big.

An open stainless steel box with three burners

BBQ-Toro calls it a Gastrobräter: a box of brushed stainless steel with three gas burners at the bottom, a grate on top, and nothing above that. In the product photo it stands on four short, angular feet, and the sheet metal has an embossed diamond pattern. At the front are three black control knobs, and to the left of them a small housing with a red button, the piezo igniter. A strip runs across the full width at the bottom. A second manufacturer image shows that the grease tray slides out forwards there like a drawer.

Behind the brand is CS-Trading GmbH & Co. KG from Brauneberg on the Moselle, which by its own account sells more than 100 items under the BBQ-Toro name. In the shop this appliance is called GB-K1103B, and the rating plate says model K1103. The letter at the end separates two versions: B comes with grate, flame tamer and grease tray, while the GB-K1103A comes with an enamelled pan. In the manufacturer’s shop the grate version costs €199.95 and the pan version €189.95.

In our price box the grill is listed on Amazon at approx. €200. In the gas grill category that makes it one of the cheaper appliances, and technically part of a small group, the tabletop grills, which only heat from below. The manufacturer names garden, camping, buffet and parties as places of use.

Burners, gas type and what the rating plate says

According to the product page, each of the three burners delivers 3.3 kW, 10 kW in total. They are made of chrome-plated steel and each has its own control, infinitely adjustable via large control knobs according to BBQ-Toro. Ignition is electronic by piezo, at the push of a button.

More technical detail is on the rating plate, which the manufacturer shows as a photo on the product page. It lists max. 10 kW, a consumption of 728 g/h, gas nozzles of 0.80 mm, butane or propane (G30 / G31) as the gas type and appliance category I3B/P (50). This category means: built for liquefied gas at 50 mbar connection pressure, the usual value in Germany. The product page states the same pressure. The plate also carries a CE marking with the notified body number 0063 and the ID code 0063CL7046.

Output and consumption fit together. Using the calorific value of butane, a table value of around 13.7 kWh per kilogram, 728 g/h comes out at almost exactly 10 kW. This cross-check is our own. It does show, however, that the product page and the rating plate describe the same appliance.

According to the manufacturer, the box contains the Gastro housing, three burners, grate, flame tamer, grease tray, a pressure regulator and a gas connection hose, as well as assembly instructions, which BBQ-Toro describes as detailed. You buy the gas cylinder separately.

In detail: 10 kW under an open grate

A hooded grill holds hot air under the lid. The food gets radiation from below and circulating heat from above, and it is exactly this second half that the Gastrobräter lacks. What the burners put out hits the flame tamer and grate first, and the rest rises freely upwards, faster in wind than in still air.

That is why output per area is more telling here than the bare kW figure. With the grate size of 60 x 48 cm from the spare-part set, 10 kW works out at around 3.5 W per square centimetre, and with the 64 x 48 cm of the product page at around 3.3. According to Aosom, the Outsunny tabletop grill comes in at around 3.4 W with 7.5 kW on 62 x 35.5 cm. According to Broil King, the Broil King Regal 590 delivers 16 kW of main burner output on 4,032 cm², so around 4.0 W, and also keeps the heat under the hood. On paper the Toro plays in the same class as the other open tabletop appliances.

The manufacturer says the three burners distribute the heat evenly; we have no measurement on that. In terms of design, the flame tamer speaks in its favour: it sits between burners and grate, catches dripping fat before it falls into the flame, and spreads the heat sideways.

Three separate controls have a second benefit. If you turn one burner low, you get a cooler area for food that is already done. On one of its product images, BBQ-Toro labels exactly two zones in this way: the grill zone on the grate and a narrow warming zone at the edge. How wide the strip is and what temperature it holds is not stated in the image.

The appliance is not built for ribs, roasts or a whole chicken, which cook for a long time with the hood closed.

Grate, dimensions, weight: where the numbers diverge

The outer dimension is clear: 64 x 52 x 27 cm (W x D x H) according to the product page, and the Amazon data converts to the same values.

The grate is less clear. The grill’s product page gives 64 x 48 cm, and the replacement grate set that BBQ-Toro explicitly sells for this Gastrobräter gives 60 x 48 cm. A grate 64 cm wide would be as wide as the housing on the outside, leaving no room for the side walls. We therefore consider 60 x 48 cm the more likely figure, which would be around 2,880 cm². That is not confirmed.

The weight is similar, only with a bigger gap. The manufacturer’s shop data states 16.5 kg shipping weight, and the Amazon data sheet 11.02 pounds, converted approx. 5.0 kg. Which figure comes closer to the unpacked appliance cannot be decided from the outside. When carrying it, we would assume the higher one and lift it with two people.

On material: the grill body is brushed stainless steel, while burners, grate, flame tamer and grease tray are chrome-plated steel. Chrome-plated means the steel has a thin chrome layer. In general, such parts can rust where the layer is scratched or flaked off.

The 27 cm height adds to the table height. A base unit is not included, so the grill needs a stable table that can take the weight and heat from below.

How long does a gas cylinder last?

At full output on all three burners, in calculation around 15 hours with an 11 kg cylinder, around 11 hours with 8 kg and just under 7 hours with 5 kg. The basis is the consumption of 728 g/h from the rating plate.

This is the least favourable calculation. If only one burner runs at full, it is a third of that, around 243 g/h, and the 11 kg cylinder would in calculation last about 45 hours. At a party with a changing load, consumption lies somewhere in between. None of this has been measured; the figures are division.

BBQ-Toro does not recommend a particular cylinder size. For an appliance that is taken along to parties, there is a lot to be said for 11 kg: the cylinder lasts for several long evenings but is heavy to carry. Which cylinders exist and what deposit and exchange cost is covered in our guide Gas bottle for the grill.

One open point concerns the pressure regulator. The rating plate allows butane and propane at 50 mbar, and a regulator is included. Whether it is designed for both gases remains unclear: the only picture of it bears the print PROPANE and, judging by the file name, comes from another product. If you want to run the grill on a butane cylinder, it is best to check this straight away when unpacking.

Setup and safety according to the rating plate

BBQ-Toro has not put an operating manual online as a PDF, and a second search on 21 October 2026 did not find one either. What you can read on safety before buying is on the rating plate, and these four notes are all of it:

  • For outdoor use only!
  • Read the instructions before use!
  • Parts can become very hot during use!
  • Keep children away!

The product page also has a product safety section that deals with mains cable and indoor use. It evidently fits an electrical appliance and contradicts the plate. The rating plate is what counts: outdoors only.

Minimum distances to an awning, hedge or wooden decking, a statement on balconies and instructions for a leak test are therefore missing before purchase. In general, for any liquefied gas appliance: check the connections with leak-detection spray or soapy water before first use and after every cylinder change, never with a flame, and close the cylinder valve first after grilling. With an open grill without a hood, the hot parts are also exposed on all sides. Where children run around the table, it belongs at the edge, not in the middle.

The manufacturer has not published its own cleaning instructions. Grate, flame tamer and grease tray can each be removed, and the grease tray as a drawer is the part you will empty most often, because it collects the fat that could otherwise catch fire. We have put together general advice on burners and stainless steel in the guide Cleaning a gas grill. If the enclosed assembly instructions contain different advice, those take precedence.

What the manufacturer leaves open

All in one place, so you know beforehand what cannot be clarified:

  • Cooking area in cm² and which of the two grate sizes is correct
  • Net weight of the appliance
  • Maximum temperature and heat-up time
  • Flame failure device (thermocouple) on the burners
  • Stainless steel grade and sheet thickness
  • Length and standard of the gas hose, outlet pressure and connection thread of the pressure regulator
  • Minimum distances, balcony, cleaning and leak test in the wording of an instruction manual
  • a matching cover
  • a manufacturer guarantee beyond the statutory warranty
  • Country of origin and year of market launch

These three alternatives are worth a look

The prices are guide values from our price boxes (for the Broil King, at Santos Grills) and change constantly in the shops. The rating is our editorial assessment from the data comparison, not a measurement result.

When the Gastrobräter suits and when it doesn’t

The first question is grate or pan. On the grate the food sits over the flame, fat drips through, and sausages get grill stripes. If you instead fry diced vegetables, prawns, fried eggs or fried potatoes, too much falls through on the grate. For that, tepro has the Wurstbräter with grill pan, which according to our price boxes costs approx. €185, the Gastrobräter approx. €200. For this tepro appliance’s output, however, the manufacturer’s instructions and catalogue contradict each other, 12 kW against 5.4 kW. If you want to stay with BBQ-Toro, take the GB-K1103A version with a pan.

Then the size. According to the price box the Outsunny costs approx. €123, the Toro approx. €200. The Outsunny’s plate, at around 2,200 cm², has only a good three quarters of the Toro’s grate area, even if you take the smaller grate size. For a family on the terrace we would reach for the Outsunny, for the club party with a queue at the grill for the Toro.

And the lid. If, besides parties, you also want to make roasts or pulled pork in the garden, an open grill won’t help you. The Broil King Regal 590 is our overall winner in the category and according to the price box costs approx. €1,649, the Toro approx. €200. In between there are many hooded grills, and the Grill Finder narrows them down to your needs.

On top of the budget, the Toro needs a gas cylinder and a sturdy table, neither of which is in the box.

In our assessment the Gastrobräter is wrong for two groups. First, for anyone who wants to grill on the balcony of a rented flat: without instructions you don’t know the required distances, and without them an open gas flame doesn’t belong there. Second, for anyone who wants to know before buying whether the burners have a flame failure device. If, on the other hand, you are looking for the grill for a summer party in the garden or on the club field, you put it on a free table at a distance from tent and hedge and connect a propane cylinder, and then the open design suits exactly the purpose for which BBQ-Toro offers it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about BBQ-Toro Edelstahl Gastrobräter 3-flammig

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for BBQ-Toro Edelstahl Gastrobräter 3-flammig.

How long is the warranty if I buy for a snack stand or catering?

If you buy as a business in the BBQ-Toro shop, claims for defects on new goods expire one year after delivery according to the terms and conditions. For consumers, the statutory liability for defects applies without this shortening, normally meaning two years. We did not find a separate manufacturer guarantee going beyond that in the shop documents. If you order via Amazon, your contract partner is the seller there, and their terms apply.

Can I get spare parts such as burners or the piezo igniter?

According to the FAQ on bbq-toro.de, spare parts can in principle be ordered for products bought there. The request goes through the contact form or by email to customer service, with the article number and invoice number, here GB-K1103B. Whether the service also supplies parts after an Amazon purchase is left open by the FAQ. We would keep the invoice and, if in doubt, ask before buying.

Can I buy the pan later for the grate version?

Yes. The manufacturer's shop sells the enamelled steel pan for the 64 x 52 cm Gastrobräter separately, article PfanneA, 64 x 52 x 5.5 cm, for €59.95. Conversely, the grate set RostB with grate, flame tamer and grease tray costs €69.95 in the manufacturer's shop. If you want both, you pay €259.90 in the manufacturer's shop either way: grate version plus pan, or pan version plus grate set.

Can I use the grill under a gazebo or in a party tent?

Not in a closed tent: the rating plate allows use outdoors only. Propane and butane are heavier than air, so escaping gas collects at floor level instead of dispersing, and incomplete combustion produces carbon monoxide. A canopy with open sides is a borderline case that the plate does not address. At an event, we would first ask the organiser about their fire safety requirements.

Does the Gastrobräter work in winter with butane?

Rather poorly, and that is down to the gas. Butane boils at around minus 0.5 degrees Celsius, below which hardly anything evaporates in the cylinder and the flames become small. Propane only boils at around minus 42 degrees. The rating plate allows both gases, G30 and G31. For a winter party or an Advent market, we would therefore connect a propane cylinder.

How do I recognise the grate version when buying?

By the article number GB-K1103B and the EAN 4260120777657, both of which are on the BBQ-Toro product page. The version with the pan is called GB-K1103A. On Amazon, the size field of this listing states the equipment as grill grate, flame tamer and grease tray. The rating plate helps little in telling them apart, as it only shows the base model K1103 without a letter.

What happens if the wind blows out a flame?

That depends on the flame failure device, and whether the burners have one is not documented for this model. A thermocouple shuts off a burner's gas supply by itself after a short time once the flame goes out. Without this safeguard, gas keeps flowing until you turn the control off. We would put the question to customer service before buying and never leave the grill unattended in wind.
