One plate, three knobs, no lid
The Outsunny 3-burner is a gas grill for the table, built like a small plancha. Food is cooked on a continuous, enamelled metal plate with three burners underneath. It has no grate and no lid either. On Amazon it costs approx. €123 (Amazon page on 21 October 2026: €122.90).
Outsunny is a house brand of the mail-order retailer Aosom. There the grill runs under article number 846-108V91SR, and the manual calls it model WN-Q03A. It is made by Ningbo Xinwei Metal Products in China’s Zhejiang province, and MH Handel GmbH from Hamburg brings it to Germany.
The product photo shows a flat, rectangular box. On top lies the black plate, whose edge is raised at the back and on both sides and stays low at the front. The front is a silver panel with three round control knobs, and the orange gas hose exits on the left. In our overview of gas grills, it belongs to the small plate-style units without a frame and wheels.
What Aosom states about the build
Three main burners, no side burner. Each delivers 2.5 kW, additionally given in the shop as 9000 BTU, which together makes 7.5 kW nominal heat input. Ignition is by piezo, each burner has its own control knob, and the output can be turned to any position between high and low.
There are two figures for the cooking surface. Aosom states 62 x 35.5 cm and, in the product properties, 0.22 m² cooking area, and the two match. The Amazon title speaks of 65 x 35.5 cm. We go with the manufacturer, partly because a 65 cm plate length would be hard to fit into a housing with a 63 cm outer length.
Aosom gives the outer dimensions as 63 x 48 x 21 cm (length, width, height) and the weight as 13 kg. The data sheet lists stainless steel and metal as materials, the frame is stainless steel, and the colour is called black+silver. Aosom describes the plate as a metal plate with an enamel coating and a non-stick effect. The shop also lists a load capacity of 10 kg without saying what it refers to.
Four feet can be adjusted within a range of 2 cm. Grease runs through a drain hole at the side of the plate into a pull-out collecting tray measuring 19 x 5 x 3.8 cm. The manual speaks of a grease tray and a grease cup under the housing. According to Aosom, the box contains the grill, a regulator, a hose and the manual.
What the manufacturer does not state
These points are missing from the Aosom product page and from the German manual IN241200021V01:
- Thickness of the plate and the type of steel under the enamel
- Material of the burners, feet and grease tray
- Maximum plate temperature and heat-up time
- Length of the supplied hose and thread of the regulator
- How many people the surface is intended for
- Spare parts for burner, plate or regulator
- Warranty terms
In detail: three zones on one continuous plate
On a grate, each burner largely determines on its own how hot it gets directly above it. A closed metal plate, by contrast, also conducts heat sideways. The three zones therefore blend into each other instead of being sharply separated. Aosom writes that three cooking areas with different temperatures can be created. How sharp the boundary between the hot and cool side turns out depends on the plate thickness, and that is unknown.
In practice that means: sear on the left at full power, cook vegetables in the middle on a low flame, and on the right there is a strip where you push finished food. Over a 62 cm length, that is a good 20 cm per burner.
A calculation helps put this in context. Divide 7.5 kW by roughly 2,200 cm² of plate and the Outsunny comes to about 3.4 W per cm². According to Enders, the Enders AMARO 3 has 9.6 kW on 3,140 cm², which is just under 3.1 W per cm². On paper, the small Outsunny therefore has somewhat more output per area than the much larger plancha. How hot the surface actually gets is not shown by this figure; plate material, wind and outside temperature also count.
What falls away without a lid is indirect cooking. A roast or a whole chicken needs air circulating under a hood, and there is none here. The manual nevertheless mentions a lid, for example with the note never to light with the lid closed, and elsewhere speaks of the “grill grate”. It was evidently written for several appliances, including the sister model with a hood.
How do you light the grill correctly?
Always from left to right. First press the left knob down and turn it anticlockwise to 90°, which is full power. The click of the piezo ignition lights the flame. The middle and right follow.
Before that comes a fixed sequence. Connect the gas bottle following the regulator’s instructions, set all knobs to “OFF”, then check the connections between bottle and regulator and between hose and grill for leaks with soapy water. If bubbles form, the grill is not used.
The left-to-right order has a reason, which the manual words like this: never light a burner that does not have a burner assembly directly next to it. Our reading is that a burner is only lit next to one that is already burning. Starting the right burner on its own is not intended.
If it does not work after two attempts, you turn the knob clockwise to off, close the bottle valve and wait five minutes so that escaped gas can disperse. As a fallback, the manual describes lighting by hand: hold burning matches to the ignition pin and then the ignition pin to the burner. Our guide gas grill will not light collects further causes.
There is a translation error in the German version. For commissioning, it says all knobs should be turned to “OFF” “before you switch off the gas supply”. The English version on page 13 says the opposite: before you turn on the gas. The English order is clearly what is meant.
Gas bottle, regulator and hose
In Germany, appliance category I3B/P(50) applies: butane (G30), propane (G31) or their mixture at 50 mbar. According to the data sheet, the same category applies to Austria, Switzerland and Slovakia. Only low-pressure gas is permitted, via a low-pressure regulator and a flexible hose that is fastened to the regulator and appliance with hose clips. A replacement hose must comply with the national standard and may be at most 1.5 m long. It must not be knotted or twisted and may touch the appliance only at the connection.
On the bottle, the manual contradicts itself on the same page. First it names bottles with 4.5 to 15 kg of butane or 3.9 to 13 kg of propane, shortly afterwards it says: “The maximum weight of the gas bottle is 6.75 kg.” Which sentence applies cannot be settled from the manual. Before buying an 11 kg bottle, we would ask the retailer.
The position of the bottle is clear. It stands behind the grill on the left, never directly beside it and never under the appliance on the base plate, and as far away as the hose allows without being stretched. The appliance and bottle need a level surface. What else matters when buying a bottle is covered in our guide to the gas bottle for the grill.
For the leak check, the manual describes its own solution: 2 to 3 fluid ounces, one part washing-up liquid to three parts water. The control valve stays off, the regulator goes onto the bottle and onto the hose and grill, then the gas is turned on and the solution is brushed onto the hose and all connection points. Bubbles mean a leak, and the gas is shut off immediately. After the repair, it is checked again and then the gas is closed at the bottle. If the leak cannot be fixed, it is a matter for the gas supplier. You never search with an open flame.
What else comes into question?
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Outsunny 3-burner 7.5 kW (this one) | open plate 62 x 35.5 cm, three burners, no lid | approx. €123 | 7.8 | you mainly fry quickly and do not need a hood |
| Outsunny 3-burner with lid | same burner output, plus a lid | approx. €125 | 7.7 | you want to cover the plate or sometimes cook under the hood |
| Outsunny 5 kW tabletop grill | two burners with 5 kW combined | approx. €100 | 7.5 | two zones are enough for you because you mostly cook for a few people |
| Enders AMARO 3 | stainless steel plate 69 x 45.5 cm, 9.6 kW | approx. €329 | 8.3 | you regularly cook on the plate for larger groups |
The prices are guide values from our price boxes and change constantly in retail. The rating is our editorial assessment based on the manufacturer’s data.
When this grill fits and when another one does
Start with the location. The manual requires at least 1 m of clearance around the appliance, and there must be no trees, shrubs or roofs above the grill. With a 63 x 48 cm footprint, you therefore need a free area of about 2.6 x 2.5 m, plus a stable table. Paraffin, thinners and anything marked as flammable belong outside this area.
For the balcony, that means: in our reading, a balcony with another balcony or a roof overhang above it is ruled out. The balcony is not expressly covered in the manual; it only requires an outdoor area with good ventilation and forbids covered and enclosed spaces. Whether gas is allowed at all is decided by your tenancy agreement and house rules. More on this in the guide grilling on a balcony.
Then the surface. The Enders AMARO 3 has around 43 per cent more plate. If you currently cook for the family in several rounds in a pan, work out how many pans fit side by side on 62 x 35.5 cm. We would not derive a number of people from that.
With the lid, the sum is simple. The Outsunny model with a hood costs approx. €125 (this model: approx. €123). For that you get a hood that covers the plate in rain and allows indirect cooking. If you only ever cook sausages, fried eggs and vegetables, you do not need it.
According to the price box, the two-burner tabletop grill from Outsunny costs approx. €100 (this model: approx. €123) and has one burner fewer. In its favour is mainly that space on the table is tighter. The Enders AMARO 3 costs approx. €329 and is the appliance for large groups. For each of these grills, add the gas bottle to the cost. If you do not yet know whether you want a plate or a grate, you can go through the questions one by one in the grill finder.
Cleaning, care and storage according to the manual
Clean only when the grill has cooled down and the gas is off. If you let it burn off for about 15 minutes after each use, hardly any food residue remains, according to the manual. Once a year, a professional technician should also service it, not you yourself.
For the individual parts, the manual names:
- Griddle plate: mild soapy water, and for stubborn stains a non-abrasive scouring powder.
- Outer surfaces: mild detergent or baking soda and hot water, plus non-abrasive scouring powder. “NEVER USE OVEN CLEANER”.
- Inside of the grill base: loosen residue with a brush, scraper or pad, wash with soapy water, rinse and dry.
- Plastic parts: soft cloth and hot soapy water, no abrasives, no degreasers, no concentrated grill cleaners.
- Grease tray: do not open during use. You empty the grease cup when it is 1/3 full, and remove it once cooled and held level.
- Burners: gas off, bottle disconnected, clean with a soft brush or compressed air, clogged openings with a pipe cleaner. If the burner has cracks or holes, it is replaced, and the venturi tube must then sit correctly again.
Before storing, you wipe excess grease off with a damp cloth and mild detergent and store the grill clean and dry. It may only go indoors without the bottle connected, and for longer breaks in the original packaging. The bottle itself is stored outdoors, upright, out of reach of children, well ventilated, out of direct sun and never above 50 °C. No smoking near it. After disconnecting, the protective cap goes back on the valve. More background is in the guide cleaning a gas grill.
Who is it suitable for?
For people who want to take a gas grill with them. Aosom names the garden, visits to friends, festivals and open-air parties as places of use, and at 13 kg without a frame, that is realistic. According to the manual, the grill must not be moved during operation, so it is only repositioned after it has cooled. In strong wind it should not be operated facing into the wind, which is a real limitation on an open festival site.
It is the wrong choice for anyone who wants to cook a roast, a chicken or thick cuts slowly. The hood is missing for that, and the sister model with a lid is then the obvious choice. Anyone who wants grill marks will also not be happy with a smooth plate.
