What the RED 4+1 is

A gas grill on a base cabinet with four main burners under the lid and a side burner next to it, for approx. €200 (Amazon page on 21 October 2026: €199.90). If you look around the gas grills in our catalogue, you will find this 4+1 layout on more expensive carts too; on the RED 4+1 it is combined with a grate area of approx. 61 x 42 cm.

TAINO describes it as the successor and further development of the TAINO 4+1 PRO. Compared with the predecessor, the manufacturer lists five changes: the integrated gas cylinder holder, a new design of the control knobs, improved stainless steel burners, a more comfortable working height and a bottle opener. The article number is 93511. The same model number appears in the Amazon listing that our price box links to, so that listing is the single unit without a set.

Behind the brand is the importer Clic-Trade GmbH from Cologne. The instructions give the People’s Republic of China as the country of manufacture, and TAINO itself writes that the goods are produced by partners in China and designed by its own specialists in Germany. The brand has been online since 2015. For the EU Gas Appliances Regulation (EU) 2016/426, the declaration of conformity dated 19 December 2019 refers to the standards EN 498:2012 and EN 484:2019.

Burners, gas and ignition

Under the lid are four stainless steel main burners, each with a burner cover above it. The instructions give each one as 2.5 kW at 182 g of gas per hour, and the side burner has exactly the same values. Added together, that makes 10 kW under the lid and 12.5 kW with the side burner. These totals are ours; TAINO only prints the individual values.

All five nozzles are 0.7 mm. The gas category is I3B/P(50), which means: butane (G30), propane (G31) or a mixture of the two, always at 50 mbar connection pressure. The instructions rule out fuels other than the specified gases.

Ignition is by piezo, individually via each control knob. You open the lid fully, press the knob down and turn it anticlockwise. TAINO calls this one-hand ignition; each burner is then continuously adjustable.

On the product photo, the side burner sits to the left of the lid and has a protective cover. It takes pots and pans of approx. 7 to 23 cm diameter. Two rules from the instructions belong with it: never use it with the cover closed, and do not ignite it while a pot is already on the burner.

In detail: four burner strips whose output increases towards the back

The four knobs sit side by side at the front, so the burners run from front to back through the firebox. If you divide the roughly 61 cm grate width by four, each burner covers a strip of about 15 cm. That is a rough calculation of ours; we have not measured how far apart the burner tubes actually are.

More interesting is a sentence that the instructions print in capital letters: owing to their design, the burner bars have an output that increases from front to back. According to that, it gets hotter at the back of the grate than at the front by the control panel. In practice, as we read it, this means: anything to be seared goes to the back, and anything that only has to hold its temperature goes to the front.

For indirect grilling, the RED 4+1 has no dedicated zone, and it does not need one. The instructions expressly allow the main burners to be run in any combination. If, for example, the two left burners are on and the two right ones stay off, the food sits on the right over the cold half, and the heat passes over it under the closed lid. In general, a lid thermometer measures the air at the top in the curve of the lid, not the temperature at grate level. On the RED 4+1 it is an analogue dial gauge in the lid.

The instructions set a limit at full power: at the highest output, the lid must not stay closed for longer than 10 minutes. Long preheating with all four burners at maximum and the lid closed is therefore out.

The lid is double-walled and aluminium on the inside. An air layer between two walls generally slows heat loss to the outside. How much difference it makes on this grill has not been measured by anyone, and the unit does not stay cool as a result: according to the instructions, the grill housing with all attachments gets very hot during use, including the dark area of the lid handle. A warming rack hangs above the main grate for finished food.

Lid, grates, cart and dimensions

The firebox is enamelled, which according to TAINO prevents rust. On it sit two enamelled grill grates, together approx. 61 x 42 cm. Multiplied out, that is around 2,560 cm²; as a manufacturer figure, this number does not exist. What drips off runs through a funnel-shaped collection system into a grease tray with a removable grease pan. A support for a rotisserie spit is present, but the spit itself is not.

The base is a grill cart with two doors and several shelves. To the right of the lid, the photo shows a work surface with a handle bar, and the bottle opener is also integrated into the cart. TAINO gives the overall dimensions as approx. 135 x 114 x 54 cm (width, height, depth) and the working height as approx. 91 cm. These 135 cm include the side burner and shelf and have nothing to do with the grate area.

According to the manufacturer, the grill weighs approx. 32 kg. The Amazon data record shows a good 11 pounds, so around 5 kg; this figure is obviously wrong. The cart moves on four wheels, two of which are lockable. Only the Amazon text mentions ball bearings; TAINO’s product page simply speaks of wheels.

What TAINO leaves open is collected here:

  • Cooking area in square centimetres and dimensions of the warming rack: open.
  • Maximum temperature in the cooking chamber and heat-up time: missing.
  • Base material of the grates: unclear. The product page says enamelled, while the maintenance page of the instructions speaks of cast iron grates.
  • Sheet thickness of the lid and firebox: missing.
  • Material of the side tables, cart, doors and side burner: open.
  • Material of the burner covers as delivered: open. TAINO sells stainless steel covers separately as an accessory.
  • Wheel diameter and package weights: missing.

Which gas cylinder fits in the holder?

Cylinders of 5 kg and 8 kg and approx. 30 cm diameter, says the product page. The instructions draw the line more precisely: at most 500 mm tall and under 305 mm in diameter.

On 11 kg cylinders, TAINO says nothing anywhere. Whether such a cylinder fits within the limit dimensions depends on its design, and our earlier version of this text hastily ruled it out. For any larger cylinder, the instructions’ rule applies: next to the grill, with 60 cm clearance from the side burner.

The cylinder itself is subject to its own rules. You use it upright only, never expose it to more than 50 °C and do not store it in enclosed rooms. Dented, damaged or rusty containers are just as off limits as cylinders without a TÜV inspection (German technical inspection), and you have them refilled only at an approved dealer. The grill is not transported with a cylinder connected. What the cylinder sizes mean in everyday use is covered in our guide to the gas cylinder for the grill.

Before first use, TAINO recommends a leak check on the fully assembled grill with a full cylinder. For this, you mix a soapy solution of one third soap and two thirds water, set the gas regulators to OFF, connect the cylinder via the pressure regulator and open the valve. Then you apply the solution to all connections and hoses. If bubbles form, you have found a leak: close the valve, tighten the leaking fitting, and repeat until no more bubbles appear. Afterwards you close the cylinder valve. No smoking during the check, and no open flame nearby.

What comes on top of the grill price

According to TAINO, exactly two things are in the box: the gas grill and the assembly instructions. You have to buy the pressure regulator and hose separately. In the TAINO shop, there is set 95511 with a cover and gas regulator for €289.99 (as of 21 October 2026). The 98884 cover on its own costs €39.99 in the same shop and, according to the manufacturer, fits BRANDO 4+1, BRANDO 6+1, RED 4+1, RED 6+1 and YAMARA 4+2.

If you want to use the rotisserie spit, the TAINO shop has the 91291 rotisserie spit for RED 4+1 and 6+1 for €54.99 or set 99511 with a rotisserie spit for €309.99. A third package, set 97511 with a griddle plate, gas regulator and barbecue tool case, is in the shop at €319.99.

For gas, an upper limit can be calculated from the manufacturer’s values. Four main burners at 182 g/h each use a combined 728 g per hour on full power. A 5 kg cylinder then lasts just under 7 hours, and an 8 kg cylinder just under 11 hours. We assume here that the 182 g/h apply to the highest setting; if you grill on half flame or with only two burners, it lasts correspondingly longer.

TAINO states the statutory warranty of 2 years, nothing more. The instructions add in capital letters that modification, misuse or structural changes void the warranty.

Burn-in, cleaning and safety according to the instructions

From the factory, the surface is pre-treated with vegetable oil as protection in transit. You wash this layer off with soapy water before the first grilling. After that, the grill must be burned in; this is mandatory, not a recommendation. The burners are lit one after another on the lowest setting, after approx. 10 minutes all go to the highest setting, and at the end they are turned down again. The whole procedure takes 40 to 45 minutes. As an aid, the instructions name heat-resistant oils, ideally rapeseed or sunflower oil. Try not to stand in the smoke meanwhile. The colour inside may change slightly because of the heat.

For care, the instructions contain a short sentence with an exclamation mark: clean your grill after every use! Cleaning is done only when the grill has cooled down completely and the cylinder valve is closed. The grates are first burned clean, on full heat with the lid closed and without food, then brushed off. TAINO’s FAQ names approx. 10 minutes for this, which falls exactly within the lid limit at full power. Aggressive or flammable cleaning agents are ruled out, and for all other components the instructions say literally: only with mild soapy water and a sponge. The stainless steel surface can discolour from the high temperatures.

You remove excess grease from the grease collection tray after each use, once it has cooled. You check the burner tubes for damage and replace a damaged tube immediately. You are also supposed to check the burners regularly for insect and spider nests; according to the instructions, such nests behind the valve panel can cause a fire. The grill is stored dry and protected from dust, with the cylinder removed. According to TAINO, a cover must come off regularly so that the grill is ventilated.

The RED 4+1 is intended exclusively for heating, grilling and browning food outdoors. It is off limits in enclosed and habitable spaces; the instructions give houses, tents, caravans, motorhomes and boats as examples. The Amazon text mentions camping as a use; outdoors on the pitch that is covered, in an awning or a motorhome it is not. You do not move the grill during operation, and before moving it you let all parts cool down. For clothing, the instructions require closed shoes, long sleeves and trouser legs and no loose clothing, sleeves or scarves. Smoking during use is prohibited.

The prices are guide values from our price boxes and vary between retailers. The rating is our editorial assessment based on the data sheets; we measured nothing on any of the four grills.

When the RED 4+1 fits and when another grill does

Space first. Allow 135 cm of width and 54 cm of depth for the cart itself, and the instructions also require at least 95 cm clearance from combustible materials and a free area above the grill. It has no place under a combustible roof, a wooden ceiling or a branch. On a narrow balcony this quickly gets tight, even if the house rules allow gas; what else to bear in mind there is in the guide to grilling on a balcony.

Then the area. Compared with the Brando 4+1, the grate of the RED 4+1 is around 8 cm deeper at almost the same width. The Brando 4+1 costs approx. €160, the RED 4+1 approx. €200. In our assessment, that is only worth it if you regularly put on more than one layer of food. If you rarely grill for more than three people anyway, you should look instead at the Landmann Triton PTS 2.0: less area and only two burners, but cast iron on the grate, for approx. €538 (this one: approx. €200).

The side burner is a real argument if you need side dishes, sauces or a pot of water alongside. If you have no such need, you pay for a component that only costs space.

On budget, you include the regulator. If you start without a gas regulator and cover, you are already at €289.99 with set 95511 in the TAINO shop, without a gas cylinder.

And the question of durability. Enamel on the firebox and grates, the statutory warranty and a listed spare parts range are the basis that TAINO documents. If you want to use a grill for ten years or longer, you are better off comparing it with the Weber Spirit II E-310, which costs approx. €460 (this one: approx. €200). If you are still unsure which design suits you at all, you can pre-sort in the Grill Finder. The RED 4+1 is wrong for anyone who wants to put the grill in an awning, on a boat or under a combustible roof: the instructions rule that out, and the Amazon mention of camping does not change that.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about TAINO Red 4+1

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for TAINO Red 4+1.

Does the TAINO RED 4+1 come with a gas regulator?

No. According to the scope of delivery, only the grill and the assembly instructions are included. You need a low-pressure regulator for 50 mbar and an approved flexible hose, and it must be one with a screw connection only. The instructions limit the hose length to a maximum of 1.5 metres and point out that the union nut of the gas pressure regulators used has a left-hand thread. You only tighten it hand-tight on the gas cylinder.

Can I use the RED 4+1 on a balcony?

The instructions allow use only outdoors and in well-ventilated places; they do not expressly rule out a balcony. The reason given is that this grill has no restriction on the emission of unburnt gas. The Amazon text even names the balcony as a place of use. Whether you may grill there is decided by your tenancy agreement, house rules and local regulations, which the instructions tell you to check before use.

How hot does the RED 4+1 get?

TAINO does not state a maximum temperature. The only guide value appears in the burn-in: with all burners on the highest setting, the grill should reach approx. 220 to 250 °C. That is a target value for this procedure, not an upper limit. The lid thermometer is analogue; TAINO explains in its FAQ that the outside temperature therefore also affects the reading and the needle does not sit at 0 °C when the grill is not in use.

Can I get spare parts for the RED 4+1?

Yes. TAINO lists spare parts for the model in its own shop, as of 21 October 2026 including the 4-piece burner tube set (53511BR04) for €39.99, the lid thermometer (53511TR) for €14.99, the grease collection tray for €39.99 and a 2-piece grate set (90047) for €39.99. According to the brand FAQ, you can ask customer service about anything not listed there.

Can I use the RED 4+1 commercially, for example at a food stand?

No. The instructions state that the product is suitable for private use only. There are also requirements regarding who may use it: children may not operate the device, nor may people with reduced abilities, and everyone who operates the grill must be instructed. At a stand with changing helpers, even that would be hard to comply with, in our assessment.

How many people do I need to assemble it?

TAINO recommends at least two people; the grill arrives disassembled in two packages. The instructions advise tightening all screws fully only at the end and strongly recommend work gloves because steel edges can be sharp. Beforehand, you check the parts list: if something is missing or a part is damaged, you do not continue building but contact customer service and keep the packaging.

What do I do if a burner does not light?

According to the instructions, you first close the valve on the cylinder, turn all knobs to OFF and wait 5 minutes before trying again. If the piezo ignition fails completely, the instructions describe an emergency ignition with a long-reach lighter or a very long match. You do not lean over the burner when doing this. On the side burner, the ignition electrode should sit approx. 1 to 2 mm from the burner.

How do I put out a grease fire on the RED 4+1?

If grease burns in the grease tray, according to the instructions you switch off the grill, turn off the gas supply and use a suitable extinguishing agent. Water is expressly ruled out for grease fires. If grease ignites at the burners, you close the lid to smother the fire. TAINO recommends keeping a fire extinguisher and first-aid supplies to hand; the suitable size of extinguisher should be determined by a specialist.
