A grill trolley that the manufacturer itself no longer sells
The Triton PTS 2.0 is a gas grill on a rolling trolley: two burners under one lid, a side table on the left and right, and below them a closed cabinet with one door. The listing behind our price box is the black version with model number 12903, which Landmann offered in 2015 as “triton PTS 2.0 deep black” with EAN 4000810129034. We list it for approx. €538 (Amazon page on 21.10.2026: €537.59) among the gas grills.
At the manufacturer, the device is history. landmann.de is now a brand site without product pages, and the Triton pages exist only as archive copies. In the Landmann shop, the black version still cost €339 in 2021, then €319.99 in October 2024 next to a struck-through price of €429.00, and by then it was already sold out. The Amazon price is therefore well above the manufacturer’s last price; our sources do not tell us why. The online shop maxx-world from the same group of companies listed only the silver variant on 21.10.2026: €369.00, sold out.
About the company itself: Landmann was founded on 20.09.1966 and describes itself as Germany’s oldest grill manufacturer. According to the company chronicle, the Triton series came onto the market in 2012, and in 2021 the DS Unternehmensgruppe (DS group of companies) took over the company.
We have not handled the grill ourselves. Everything here comes from the archived Landmann pages, from the German assembly and operating manual (identifier Z TRI 2.0 M LM CE V2 1223, valid for 12901, 12903 and 12906), from an English edition from 2017/2018 and from the Amazon catalogue. These sources contradict each other in a few places. Where that happens, both are given.
Burners, grate and lid
Under the lid are two stainless steel burners, both continuously adjustable. Two figures are in circulation for the output. The Landmann shop, the Amazon text and the English manual arrive at 3.5 kW per burner, so 7 kW. The technical data in the German manual V2 1223, by contrast, state 7.4 kW, split into 2 x 3.7 kW. Which figure belongs to the device delivered today cannot be settled from the documents. In our comparison we calculate with 7 kW, because that is the value in the Amazon listing.
Above the burners sit enamelled burner covers, and below them a likewise enamelled fire bowl. The cooking grate is made of enamelled cast iron and is in two pieces. The Landmann shop gave its size in 2024 as 48 x 44 cm, while the old product page from 2015 spoke of a grilling area of 46 x 44 cm. Above it hangs an enamelled warming rack.
The lid is double-walled and has a temperature display; in the product photo it sits at the top centre of the lid. A precise materials list exists only for the silver variant, in the maxx-world online shop: outer lid plate and lid handle made of stainless steel, the side walls made of aluminium, the inner plate made of aluminised steel, the fire bowl made of cold-rolled sheet steel. For the black 12903, the entry in the Landmann shop was more concise: “Enamel, stainless steel, sheet steel”. According to the 2015 page, the front panel was made of stainless steel.
Landmann changed the ignition during the production run. The 2015 page and the English manual describe a piezo ignition. From 2021 the shop listed an electronic ignition, and both newer manuals (2022 and 2023) assume a 1.5 V battery of type AA, which is included. Each burner has its own ignition system: push in the control knob, turn it to Max and, on the electronic version, also press the ignition button. In the photo, a single red button sits between the two control knobs. Which version a retailer ships from stock today, you only see on the device.
For the gas bottle and the grill tools there is the double-walled cabinet with one door. The trolley stands on four castors, which the 2015 page described as lockable. The two side tables fold down, and according to the English manual each carries a maximum of 8 kg. A tool holder and a grease pan are included.
The sources differ slightly on dimensions. The German manual gives approx. 124 x 121 x 57 cm (length x height x width), while the 2015 page came to 123 x 121.5 x 57 cm. In 2024 the Landmann shop wrote “Length 121 cm, width 57 cm, height 125 cm”, where length and height have apparently been swapped. Landmann gives the working height as approx. 92.5 cm.
For weight, four values stand side by side: approx. 36.5 kg in the German manual, 37.66 kg in the shop, 37 kg in the English edition and, converted, approx. 42 kg (92.59 pounds) at Amazon. Our assessment: with a width of around 1.24 m with the tables folded out and around 37 kg, this is a normal grill trolley for a patio or garden. We would not describe it as a small balcony grill.
In the carton according to the manual: the pre-assembled grill unit, two cooking grates, two burner covers, grease tray and grease pan, the warming rack, both side tables, four castors, the cabinet door, two control knobs and the assembly materials. The shop also listed a gas hose and a pressure regulator for 50 mbar.
In detail: what is behind PTS
PTS stands for Power Thermal Spreading. According to its own chronicle, Landmann had the system patented internationally in 2015. What it is technically, the manufacturer describes in a single sentence: “The PTS system takes effect inside the gas grill through the arrangement of the burners and the burner covers.” The Amazon text says almost the same; there PTS arises “through a particular arrangement of the burners”. We found no drawing, no temperature curve across the grate and no measured values on distribution in any source.
In general, with gas grills that use tube burners: a cover above the burner takes up the flame, radiates the heat more widely upwards and catches dripping fat, which vaporises on it. How far Landmann’s arrangement solves this better than other two-burner grills, we cannot say without data.
The question of zones is more productive. The manual describes both methods. For direct grilling, the food sits above the burning burner, which Landmann recommends for cooking times of up to 30 minutes at most. For indirect grilling, the heat comes from a burner next to it, the burner underneath stays off and the lid stays closed. With two burners that means: one burner runs, the roast sits above the other, and the heat comes from one side only. A three-burner grill can cook the meat in the middle between two flames. For a chicken or a small pork neck, half the area is enough in our view, but not for two roasts in parallel.
To preheat, according to the manual, you close the lid, wait until the lid thermometer shows the desired temperature and then switch off the burners you do not need.
Is the Triton enough for eight people?
Landmann stated this itself: the 2015 page said “Suitable for number of persons 8”. We regard that as an upper limit for direct grilling of flat food. For an evening of indirectly cooked meat, we would plan on around half that.
The reason is in the previous section: for indirect cooking, only the half of the grate above the switched-off burner remains. No side or rear burner appears in any equipment list, so you cook side dishes in a pan on the grate itself, or not at all.
Gas, bottle and pressure regulator
The Triton runs on liquefied gas, that is butane (G30), propane (G31) or a mixture. For Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic it is designed in category I3B/P (50) for 50 mbar, and the nozzles of the main burners are 0.83 mm. It must never be connected to the natural gas network; valves and nozzles are built for bottles only. DBI Certification (identification number 2531) confirmed conformity with Regulation (EU) 2016/426 (which applies in the EU) by type examination according to EN 498:2012.
A pressure regulator and hose should be included, though with a caveat: according to the manual they are missing “in some countries”. If something is missing, Landmann requires a pressure regulator according to EN 16129 and a hose according to EN 16436-1, no longer than 1.5 m. You buy the gas bottle separately in any case. According to the illustration in the manual, a bottle with a maximum diameter of 300 mm fits in the cabinet. For operation, Landmann recommends placing the bottle next to the grill; you may store it in the cabinet, in the recess of the base plate. The English edition from 2017/2018 was stricter and banned the bottle in the cabinet entirely during grilling. Next to the grill, you are right with both versions.
The pressure regulator has a left-hand thread; you screw it on anticlockwise and only hand-tight, without tools, otherwise the valve seal suffers. A leak test follows, after the first connection, after every bottle change and after a long period of non-use. For this, Landmann refers to the pressure regulator’s instructions or to a leak detection agent from specialist retailers and warns: “A leak test by ear is not safe!” Searching for leaks with a flame is expressly forbidden. More on bottle sizes and connections is in our guide to the gas bottle for the grill.
For running costs, the manual gives consumption: 540 g per hour with butane, 530 g with propane. By calculation, an 11 kg propane bottle therefore lasts a good 20 hours if both burners run continuously at nominal load. Whether an 11 kg bottle fits in the cabinet depends on its diameter.
Cleaning, care and safety according to the manual
Before the first grilling session, you burn off the grill together with the grates: at least 20 minutes on the highest setting with the lid closed, then clean the parts once they have cooled.
For the grate, two paragraphs of the manual apply at the same time, because it is made of cast iron and enamelled. Under “Cast iron cooking grates” it says: remove coarse residues with a grill grate cleaning brush or a scraper, and burn off the rest at approx. 30 minutes on the highest setting (at least 300 °C) with the lid closed. Under the enamelled parts, which also include the warming rack and the burner covers, it says: “Do not use abrasive cleaners or brushes with steel bristles.” We read the two together like this: brush yes, steel bristles no. The burners themselves, by contrast, you may clean on the outside with a clean wire brush without bending the ignition electrode.
Water is taboo in several places. The inside of a burner must not get wet. You do not immerse the grill in water or spray it with a hose, and cold water never goes on hot parts. The supplied accessories are not dishwasher safe, and methylated spirits and other flammable or corrosive cleaners are prohibited. All parts must be dry before you grill or put the grill away. A very yellow, weak flame with a smell of gas, an uneven or flickering flame, or a temperature that is not reached point, according to the manual, to blocked gas-carrying parts; you then clean the venturi tube and air inlets, for example with a pipe cleaner or compressed air. How to do that step by step is in our guide cleaning a gas grill.
The manual is clear on where to set it up. Verbatim: “For outdoor use only. Do not operate the grill in buildings, garages, covered walkways, tents, other enclosed areas, under awnings or combustible structures.” For combustible materials, it requires 2 m clearance above and 1 m to the side, and for hard-to-ignite ones such as a house wall at least 0.6 m. Vehicles, caravans and boats are excluded, as are depressions below ground level.
When lighting, the lid must be open, each burner is lit individually, and you do not lean over the cooking surface. If a flame goes out, you turn the control knob to Off and wait approx. 2 to 5 minutes before trying again. You do not extinguish a grease fire with water: close the gas supply at the bottle, switch off all burners and keep the lid closed until the fire has gone out. You may only cover the grill once it is cold.
What no source says
A few gaps remain, even after three manuals and five archived pages. A maximum temperature of the grill is missing, as is a heat-up time. The grilling area in square centimetres is stated nowhere, and we do not extrapolate it from the grate size, because grate size and usable area are not the same thing and even the manufacturer’s figures vary between 46 and 48 cm. The size of the warming rack, the dimensions of the grease pan, cabinet and door, and the maximum permitted bottle weight for the cabinet in kilograms are open. We know the current warranty terms just as little as the technical differences from the Triton PTS 2.1 or the Triton 2.0 cooK.
What else comes into question?
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Landmann Triton PTS 2.0 (this one) | 2 burners, 7 kW according to Amazon, cast iron grate 48 x 44 cm, cabinet | approx. €538 | 8.0 | you want exactly this design with a cast iron grate and cabinet and can manage with two zones |
| Weber Spirit E-210 | also 2 burners, current model in the Weber range | approx. €389 | 8.9 | it matters to you that the manufacturer still supplies the device and its parts |
| Enders Urban II Pro Trolley | smaller two-burner on an undercarriage | approx. €279 | 8.1 | your spot is not big enough for 1.24 m of width |
| Broil King Regal 590 | 5 main burners, side burner, rear burner | approx. €1,649 | 9.4 | you regularly grill for large groups and want to work indirectly across several zones |
The prices are the guide values of our price boxes and change; the rating is our editorial assessment based on the data sheets. Nobody has measured it.
When the Triton fits and when another grill does
In its favour is the equipment: a complete grill trolley with a cast iron grate, a double-walled lid and a closed cabinet. On price, it is no bargain as things stand today. The Amazon page states approx. €538, while the Weber Spirit E-210 is at approx. €389 in our price box, also with two burners.
Against it is that Landmann no longer sells the model. For a grill that is meant to last ten years, grates, burner covers and ignition count, as they will have to be replaced at some point. Supply is uncertain here, and that is exactly why, with otherwise equal requirements, we would take the Weber; it is also cheaper in our price box.
If you often grill indirectly for more than four people, a two-burner is the wrong design, whatever the brand. Then take a look at three or more burners, and in the top price range at the Broil King Regal 590 with a side burner. If, on the other hand, you only have a narrow patio, get out the tape measure first: 124 cm of width plus 1 m clearance to combustible material on each side is more space than many spots offer. If you have not yet decided between designs, you can work through the grill finder.
In your budget, plan for the gas bottle and a weather protection cover, under which the manual has you store the grill outdoors. The English manual listed the cover 15705 made of polyester and PVC as an accessory, as well as the enamelled cast plate 13190, which fits the Triton 2.0. Whether both are still available in Germany, you should ask the retailer before you order the grill.
