What the BRANDO 4+1 is and where it comes from
A gas grill trolley with four main burners, a side burner and a base cabinet, model number 93204. TAINO is a brand of Clic-Trade GmbH from Cologne. The company website says the brand went online in 2015; according to the TAINO FAQ, it is produced at partners in China and designed by specialists in Germany.
On the Amazon page, the grill stood at €159.90 on 21 October 2026, so at approx. €160. It is also listed in the TAINO shop, but on 21 October 2026 the shop page reported both “Currently unavailable” and “In stock”. If you want to buy directly from the manufacturer, it is better to ask about availability beforehand.
The range is manageable. In the TAINO line-up, the BRANDO comes only as a 4+1 and as a 6+1, each in a single version and without a set. The 4+1 has been listed in the manufacturer’s shop since 13 January 2026; its assembly and operating manual is dated 10/2025 and has 68 pages in German and English. You will find all the gas grills we compare in the gas grill overview.
Burners, grates, body: the construction
The four main burners are made of stainless steel. Each has its own control knob, which TAINO describes as individually and continuously lightable. The output is given in the technical table on page 9 of the manual: 11.4 kW for the whole appliance.
On the right, the side burner sits in the side table. In the product photo, a flat cover lies over it, flush with the table surface. The left side table can be folded down.
Grilling takes place on a two-piece, porcelain-coated grate of approx. 60 x 34 cm, which works out to around 2,040 cm². Above it hangs a likewise porcelain-coated warming rack of approx. 56 x 15.6 cm. The body is made of powder-coated steel in black. The lid has an analogue thermometer, and for this type of design TAINO writes in its general FAQ that the outside temperature also affects the reading. Beneath the burners, the fat runs into a removable tray, which according to the manual should always sit at the bottom of the grill. Two doors close the base cabinet.
It moves on two plastic wheels of 15 cm diameter, and on the opposite side the trolley stands on two feet. The photo shows the wheels under the right-hand table. To move it, you therefore lift the left side. At approx. 26.5 kg manufacturer’s weight (Amazon lists approx. 26.0 kg converted), that is in our assessment doable, but not a one-handed job.
TAINO gives the outer dimensions as approx. 124.5 x 52 x 109 cm, width by depth by height, and the working height as approx. 85 cm. For assembly, the manual recommends two people, a clear area of 2 x 2 metres and gloves, because metal edges can be sharp. You tighten the screws only at the end. The recommended tools are not in the box.
In detail: four controls, two heat zones
Four separately adjustable burners under one lid are above all one thing: the option to split the grate. If the left side runs at full blast and the right side has only one burner on low or none at all, two zones appear. In the direct zone, the food lies over the flame and gets radiant and contact heat from below, good for sausages, thin steaks and vegetables. In the indirect zone, it lies beside the flame and cooks in the hot air circulating under the closed lid. That way a thick piece gets cooked through on the inside before the surface burns.
The manual says this in its own words: place thicker and larger pieces further away from the most intense heat, and pre-cooking large pieces of meat can be helpful. With a grate width of 60 cm, roughly 30 cm remain for each zone if you leave two burners on and two off. Whether the burners are evenly spaced cannot be seen from the outside in the photo.
TAINO sets one limit itself, and for indirect cooking it matters more than any kW figure: at maximum output, the lid may stay closed for no more than 10 minutes. Longer cooking times under a closed lid therefore have to run on lower settings. The manual gives no maximum temperature; the only temperature value is the target range for the burn-in (see Care).
It is lit by button: push in, turn anticlockwise to “HI”, and the manual describes a quiet click as you do so. The burner with the lightning symbol always comes first, followed by its neighbours to the left or right.
How much space does the BRANDO 4+1 need?
Allow approx. 124.5 cm width and 52 cm depth, and approx. 107 cm width with the left table folded in. On top of that comes clearance: TAINO recommends 0.5 to 1.0 metres from combustible materials, and the area above the grill must stay clear.
Folding it in therefore gains 17.5 cm. The right table with the burner stays up. On a terrace that is little, but on a narrow balcony it can make the difference as to whether the balcony door still opens fully.
Then the gas bottle. The manual describes two variants: when connecting, the bottle is to be placed in the trolley, while elsewhere it gives a minimum distance of 60 cm from the side burner for a bottle beside the grill. How big the base cabinet is inside, and whether the 13 kg bottle recommended by TAINO fits in, is answered by neither the product page nor the manual. If you have no room for a bottle beside the grill, you should clarify this with customer service before buying.
TAINO explicitly names the balcony as a place of use in the Amazon description. The manual sets requirements for this, which you should tick off one by one. The grill is intended exclusively for outdoor use, only to be used in well-ventilated places and not under combustible surfaces or roofs. It has no place in a garage, on a boat, in a caravan or in a motorhome. The ground must be stable and heat-resistant, wooden fences and overhanging branches must be kept at a distance, and children and animals should not get near the grill. TAINO also refers to local regulations. On a rented balcony, the house rules and the tenancy agreement come on top of that. We have gathered what is typically regulated there in the guide Grilling on a balcony.
Regulator, bottle, consumption: what is not in the box
The scope of delivery lists a single item: the grill. The manual states in capital letters that a gas pressure regulator with hose must be bought separately. For Germany, the technical table specifies gas category I3B/P(50), so you need a 50 mbar regulator that complies with the current version of EN 16129 and national regulations. Only hoses with a screw connection are permitted. In its shop, TAINO itself sells the regulator 90087 with hose for €16.99, rated for 50 mbar and 1.5 kg per hour. That is above the grill’s consumption, so the throughput is sufficient.
The same table assigns nozzles of 0.62 mm for the main burners and 0.79 mm for the side burner to the 50 mbar setting. Which nozzles are fitted at the factory is not clear from the documents.
The grill runs only on butane, propane or LPG mixtures. TAINO puts the total consumption at 830 g per hour, and a 13 kg bottle is recommended, which according to the manual lasts approx. 8.0 hours at full output. These two values do not fit together: 13,000 g divided by 830 g per hour gives just under 16 hours. Which value is correct, the manual does not clarify. We would plan with the 8 hours, so you do not end up with an empty bottle.
Because of the risk of explosion, connecting is allowed only outdoors and on a cooled appliance. The sequence according to the manual: close the bottle valve, tighten the hose at the grill and at the regulator with the spanner, then screw the regulator onto the bottle without tools so that the seal stays intact. Before first use, TAINO recommends a leak test with soapy water made of one third soap and two thirds water: regulator on “OFF”, open the valve, apply the solution to all connections and hoses. If bubbles form, there is a leak there. Then close the valve, tighten and repeat until no more bubbles appear. No smoking and no naked flame while doing this. Which bottle size suits you and how changing it works is explained in the guide Gas bottle for the grill.
Burn-in, cleaning, safety according to the manual
From the factory, the surface is pre-treated with vegetable oil against transport dirt. Before the first grilling, you clean it with a soft cloth and soapy water and dry it. After that, the grill must be burned in, which is mandatory: light the burners one after another on the lowest setting, after about 10 minutes turn all to the highest setting for 20 to 25 minutes, then turn down for approx. 15 minutes. Altogether this takes 40 to 45 minutes at approx. 220 to 250 °C. You briefly open the lid every 4 to 5 minutes, which fits the 10-minute limit above. As oil, the manual names heat-resistant types, ideally rapeseed or sunflower oil. And: avoid standing in the smoke if possible.
After every grilling session, all grease residues must be removed to prevent fires. To do this, you let each burner run for another approx. 15 to 20 minutes without food and brush it off after it has cooled. For the grate and the grease tray, TAINO writes: “Use a mild soapy water solution, soak if necessary. Then rinse with water and dry thoroughly.” Oven cleaner is expressly forbidden. Two passages of the manual are in tension here: in general you are not to use sharp objects or aggressive, abrasive or flammable cleaning agents, yet for stubborn stains on the interior surfaces the same manual names a wire brush, steel wool or scouring sponge. Some care paragraphs also speak of cast iron grates, although the BRANDO 4+1 has porcelain-coated grates. We consider that a text block carried over from another model.
One point many are likely to overlook: after every cleaning and after every transport, even over a few metres, you check that the burner tubes still sit fully on the gas nozzles. The grill is moved only when cooled and never with the gas bottle connected.
If grease burns at the burners, according to the manual you close the bottle valve, switch off the burners and close the lid to smother the fire. If the grease tray catches fire, you switch off the grill, turn off the gas supply and use a suitable extinguishing agent. Water is taboo for grease fires. TAINO recommends keeping a fire extinguisher and first-aid supplies ready. You never use the side burner with the cover closed.
For storage, you let the grill cool down completely, remove the gas bottle, clean it thoroughly and store it dry and protected from dust. The bottle stays outdoors and out of reach of children. According to the manual, the appliance is intended exclusively for heating, grilling and browning food outdoors and for private use only. Children must not operate it.
What the manufacturer does not state
These points are on neither the product page nor in the manual, and we did not find them elsewhere at TAINO either:
- the output per main burner and that of the side burner (only the total of 11.4 kW is documented)
- a heat-up time
- the measuring range of the lid thermometer
- the material and wall construction of the lid and combustion chamber in detail, the material of the burner covers and any sheet metal thickness
- whether the wheels can be locked
- a test certification of the BRANDO, for example by TÜV
- spare part prices, apart from the cast iron grate set
What else comes into question
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TAINO BRANDO 4+1 (this one) | 4 burners, grate approx. 60 x 34 cm, left table folding | approx. €160 | 7.5 | your space is tight and you mostly grill for a few people |
| TAINO BRANDO 6+1 | 6 burners, grate approx. 77 x 34 cm, approx. 127.5 cm wide when folded | approx. €190 | 7.7 | you often grill for larger groups and have a good 20 cm more width free |
| TAINO Red 4+1 | Grate approx. 61 x 42 cm, double-walled lid, 4 wheels | approx. €200 | 7.7 | grate depth matters more to you than a folding table |
| Broil King Regal 590 | 5 burners with 16 kW, main grate 80 x 48.8 cm | approx. €1,649 | 9.4 | you have a budget beyond €1,500 and want more grate area than anything else |
The prices are guide values from our price boxes and change. The rating is our editorial assessment based on the manufacturer’s data; we did not measure anything on any of these grills.
When the BRANDO 4+1 fits and when another one does
The cooking area is the first question. Around 2,040 cm² of main grate is, in our assessment, enough for a family or a small group of visitors; for a garden party with twelve people, you grill in batches. More area comes with the TAINO BRANDO 6+1, which according to the manufacturer has six burners with a combined 15.5 kW, weighs approx. 30 kg and costs approx. €190 (the 4+1 approx. €160). It is, however, approx. 141 cm wide. If you are choosing the 4+1 because of the balcony, the 6+1 is usually not an option for you.
The second question is depth. 34 cm is little if you want to place a roast chicken indirectly beside the flame. The TAINO Red 4+1 has approx. 42 cm of grate depth, a double-walled lid with aluminium inside and four wheels, two of which can be locked. For that you pay approx. €200 instead of approx. €160 and carry approx. 32 kg. TAINO does not mention a folding side table for the Red.
Third, the real budget. Add the regulator from the TAINO shop for €16.99 and, if the grill spends the winter outdoors, the cover for €39.99, plus the gas bottle. If you prefer cast iron on the grate, the TAINO shop offers the cast iron grate set 97134, two-piece, 60 x 34 cm, likewise porcelain-coated and likewise for €39.99. According to TAINO, it is developed to fit the BRANDO 4+1 exactly.
And the Broil King? It is in the table as a benchmark, not as an alternative. Between it and the BRANDO lie worlds in burners, grate and price, and if you are seriously torn between the two, you should feed the Grill Finder with your actual budget.
The BRANDO 4+1 is wrong for you if you regularly want to cook for long at full output with the lid closed, because the manual forbids that after 10 minutes. It is equally a poor fit if the grill is to stand on an uneven or sloping spot and you want to rely on lockable casters, and if you constantly push it back and forth between garage and garden: after every transport TAINO requires a check of the burner tubes, and it must not be lit in the garage anyway.
