Our assessment: the Nexgrill Gourmet Pro suits you if you want a cast plate and grates under one lid and plan to use the Griddle Max plate regularly. For approx. €449 you also get a side burner. If you can do without the plate, you will find four-burner grills with a side burner in the same price range, and before buying you should ask about the missing assembled dimensions.

A grill trolley with a cast iron plate in the firebox

Nexgrill sells this grill as the “Gourmet Pro 4 Brenner Gasgrill Mit Seitenkochfeld”, model number 720-1126D. Amazon lists it under the same number. In Germany it is brought to market by Global Leisure Group Deutschland GmbH of Paderborn, and it is made in China.

The design is that of a classic grill trolley. At the top sits the firebox with its lid and lid thermometer, and the front holds four control knobs for the main burners. The side burner with its own lid is on the right, a side shelf on the left. Below is a cabinet with two doors, and the whole thing rolls on four castors, two of which have brakes. In the product photo, the lid and cabinet doors are black, and the control panel and side shelves are silver. The grill weighs 57 kg net.

What sets it apart from the other grills with a side burner in our table further down and in the gas grills category is a cast iron grill plate in the box. Nexgrill calls it “Griddle Max”. The Gourmet Pro costs approx. €449 (Amazon page on 20 October 2026: €449). On the manufacturer’s site it also cost €449 on 21 October 2026, next to a struck-through price of €649. In our comparison it scores 8.3 out of 10.

Four burners and three different kW figures

The four main burners are made of stainless steel. According to the manual, they are mounted at the side so that falling grease and dirt clog them as little as possible. Above each burner sits a stainless steel flame tamer that radiates the heat upwards. According to the manufacturer, the grill needs no lava stones or briquettes. Ignition is electronic.

There are three figures for output, and they do not fit together.

The German manual gives 3.5 kW per main burner and 2.5 kW for the side burner. In the technical table of the same manual, the total nominal heat input is 16.5 kW, based on the gross calorific value (Hs). That adds up: four times 3.5 is 14 kW, plus 2.5 makes 16.5.

Nexgrill’s product page states 3.66 kW per main burner, 2.49 kW at the side burner and 16.55 kW in total. If you add up its own individual values, you get 17.13 kW, so not its total. Finally, the Amazon listing says the four burners have “12.8 kW in total”. We found no basis for this figure in any manufacturer document.

We stick to the manual. It contains the technical table with appliance category and nozzle sizes, and its values can be cross-checked against the gas consumption (more on this in the section on the gas cylinder). According to Nexgrill, the appliance has been certified to the standards EN 498 and EN 484 for outdoor gas cooking appliances, which apply in the EU.

Cooking area, grates and where the cast plate actually sits

On the manufacturer’s site, the cooking area is given twice as 68 x 44 cm, in the running text and in the data table. A feature tile further up states 62 x 44 cm, and exactly this figure also appears for the cheaper Nexgrill 720-0925PF. By calculation, that is 2,992 cm² or 2,728 cm², a difference of 264 cm². The documents do not let us decide which figure is right. We suspect the tile was taken over from the smaller model, but we cannot prove it.

What lies in the firebox is clearer. The manual’s parts list names two grill grates, a grill plate and a warming rack. Nexgrill describes the grates as porcelain-enamelled cast iron grates and the plate as cast iron. In the product photo, the inserts are spread out above the grill, and we cannot tell with certainty from the picture which part is a grate and which is the plate.

The exploded diagram answers a question that the Amazon title leaves open. There, the appliance is called “Gasgrill mit Seitenkochfeld & Plancha (Griddle-Max System)” (gas grill with side hob and plancha), which sounds as if the plancha sits on the side burner. That is not the case. The grill plate (part no. 9) hangs on two dedicated brackets (nos. 46 and 47) in the main grill next to the two grates. The side burner has its own hob (no. 37) and a lid (no. 36). The previous version of this page had also described this wrongly.

According to the manufacturer’s site, the Griddle Max system is suitable for grilling, frying, cooking and smoking. However, a smoker box is not on the parts list.

In detail: cast iron over separately adjustable burners

Grate and plate work differently. On the grate, the food rests on narrow bars, in between it is hit by the radiant heat of the flame tamers, and fat drips downwards. That is where the grill marks come from. On the plate, the food lies on the full surface, and the heat comes almost only through contact with the hot metal. That is the design for everything that would fall through a grate or run off it: finely chopped vegetables, fried eggs, pancakes, thin fish fillets, smash burgers.

For a plate, cast iron has an advantage that sheet steel does not have. It absorbs a lot of heat and gives it off only slowly. If you put cold food on it, the surface temperature drops less sharply. The price for that is a longer heat-up time.

The times in the manual fit this. In the cooking notes, Nexgrill gives five minutes of preheating for foods that need a high cooking temperature and two to three minutes for lower ones. In the troubleshooting chapter, by contrast, it says that normal preheating to 260 to 316 °C takes about 10 to 15 minutes. With a thick cast plate, we would rather go by the longer figure.

Because the plate takes up part of the firebox, it takes space away from the grate area. How much depends on its size, and that is not stated anywhere. When plate and grates lie side by side in the firebox, each surface sits over different burners, and because the four main burners are individually adjustable, you can set the heat underneath separately.

The burners can also be used for indirect cooking. The manual describes it like this: poultry and large cuts of meat lie on one side of the grill, and the burners on the other side run. With the lid closed, the hot air cooks the piece from all sides without a flame burning directly beneath it.

How long does a gas cylinder last on the Gourmet Pro?

With all five burners at full power, an 11 kg propane cylinder lasts a good nine hours by calculation. The basis is the gas consumption given in the manual: 1,179 g per hour with propane, 1,201 g with butane.

The calculation in detail: 11 kg divided by 1.179 kg per hour gives 9.3 hours. With a 5 kg cylinder it is 4.2 hours, with 15 kg it is 12.7 hours. Because hardly anyone turns all the burners and the side burner up to full at the same time, this is a lower limit. Nexgrill does not state how long a cylinder lasts at partial load.

Incidentally, the figure supports the output given in the manual. Propane has a calorific value of around 50.4 MJ per kilogram. 1.179 kg times 50.4 MJ is 59.4 MJ per hour, and that corresponds to 16.5 kW. The consumption does not fit the 12.8 kW from the Amazon listing.

You buy the cylinder separately. The manual permits cylinders of at least 5 kg and at most 15 kg, and the largest may have a diameter of about 318 mm and a height of 580 mm. A gas pressure regulator and hose are included, and they sit behind the left cabinet door. In Germany, the grill runs at 50 mbar (category I3B/P).

For the connection, Nexgrill specifies using only the supplied pressure regulator and the supplied hose. Replacement regulators and hoses must comply with EN 16129:2013 and the national regulations, a flexible hose must not be longer than 1.50 metres and should comply with EN 16436-1:2014+A3:2020 (EU standards). The cylinder always stands upright in the 90-degree position so that the gas can vaporise. How to find the right cylinder and what matters when swapping it is covered in the guide Gas bottle for the grill.

Safety, cleaning and warranty according to the manual

These notes are given here the way Nexgrill words them, because this is about gas and an open flame.

The general safety notes in the manual comprise 24 points, with separate sections on location, gas connection and operation. Here are the ones by which you check your spot before buying. On location: the appliance may only be used outdoors and not in buildings, garages or other enclosed areas. It must not stand under an unprotected combustible overhead structure. A minimum clearance of 1 metre must be kept between the front of the grill hood, the sides, the back of the grill and combustible structures, also below the cooking surface. For objects that can catch fire, or ignition sources such as pilot lights on water heaters and live electrical appliances, the manual requires 3 metres. The location should be exposed as little as possible to wind and traffic routes and be away from strongly draughty areas, and the air paths to the burner and the ventilation must not be blocked. You do not store a spare gas cylinder under or near the grill.

Before the first lighting, a complete leak test at the installation site is mandatory, even though the factory has already tested the connections. For this you mix a soap solution from one part liquid detergent and one part water. On the first run, the cylinder should be 80 percent full. No smoking, never check with an open flame. The procedure has five steps: set the control valves to “○” and turn on the gas. Brush all connections from the LPG regulator and supply valve up to and including the connection to the manifold assembly, bubbles show a leak. If there is a leak, switch off the gas supply immediately and tighten the leaking fittings. Turn the gas on again and check again. If gas still escapes, switch off the gas supply and call customer service. You should repeat the check after every cylinder change and before every use.

If you smell gas, the manual prescribes four steps: switch off the gas supply to the appliance, extinguish flames, open the lid. If the smell persists, you keep away from the appliance and immediately call the gas supplier or the fire brigade. In the case of a grease fire, you close the gas supply at the source, switch off all burners and keep the lid closed until the fire has gone out. Do not leave the grill unattended while cooking, and after switching it off let it cool for at least 30 minutes before you move it.

Against flashback, you clean the burner tubes before assembly and at least once a month in late summer or early autumn, when spiders are most active, and also after long periods of standing. The flames should be blue and about 2.5 cm high, a slight yellow tip is normal with propane. To check and adjust the flames, grates and flame tamers must come out, and according to the manual’s recommendation the adjustment itself should be carried out by a qualified specialist.

On cleaning: Nexgrill requires cleaning the grill before every use to avoid grease deposits and grease fires. The easiest way is straight after grilling with the flame off: dip a grill brush with brass bristles in water and scrub the hot grill. Once it has cooled, it gets harder. You clean the outside of the burners with a wire brush, and clogged openings with a straightened paper clip, never with wooden toothpicks. Empty the grease tray often, wipe it out and wash it with mild detergent and warm water; some sand on the bottom absorbs grease. No steel wool on stainless steel, baked-on grease stains come off with a mild scouring sponge and stainless steel cleaner. You should inspect the burners at least once a year, but immediately if there is a smell of gas with yellowish flames, if the grill does not reach its temperature, heats unevenly or the burners pop. According to Nexgrill’s urgent recommendation, a main burner is replaced by a trained technician. More on the procedure step by step is in the guide Cleaning a gas grill.

The warranty is short. On the tube burners, Nexgrill gives a 5 year limited warranty against perforation, that is, against rust-through. Grill grates and flame tamers have 1 year, excluding falls, chipping, scratches and surface damage. Stainless steel parts have 1 year against perforation, not against surface corrosion, scratches and rust. All other parts, including valves, frame, housing, trolley, control panel, igniter, regulator and hoses, have 1 year. The warranty only applies in Germany and Scandinavia, only to the first owner and is not transferable. It covers function only, not scratches, dents, corrosion or discolouration from heat, and you pay shipping costs for replacement parts. The manufacturer does not pay for repairs if the grill is used in any way other than in a normal single-family household.

What Nexgrill leaves open

Without manufacturer information remain the assembled dimensions including working height, the material of the lid, housing, trolley and side burner, the dimensions of the cast plate and warming rack, coating and thickness of the plate along with care instructions for it, a maximum temperature, the measuring range of the lid thermometer, a suitable cover and prices for spare parts. Amazon lists 36 x 27 x 22.5 inches, converted 91.4 x 68.6 x 57.2 cm, without saying whether it means the appliance or the carton. With a grate width of 62 or 68 cm plus two side shelves, we consider 68.6 cm as the width of the assembled grill impossible and read the figures as carton dimensions. The stainless steel housing from the old version of this page is not substantiated; the manual does mention stainless steel parts, but does not say which ones they are.

These three alternatives are worth a look

The prices are guide values from our price box and change. The rating is our editorial assessment from the data comparison and is not based on any measurement.

When the Gourmet Pro fits and when another grill does

First: will you use the cast plate regularly? Only then does the Gourmet Pro pay off against its direct competitors. If not, the Flammenwerk Profi 4+1 costs approx. €450, the Gourmet Pro approx. €449, and the Flammenwerk has the better rating in our comparison. The Nexgrill Deluxe 6+1 costs approx. €599 and has six instead of four main burners, though we do not weigh its area here against the contradictory figures for the Gourmet Pro.

If you need neither a side burner nor a plate, the Weber Spirit II E-310 at approx. €460 is the choice with the highest rating in our table.

Space is the second point. With 1 metre of clearance from combustible structures to the front, both sides, the back and below the cooking surface, plus 3 metres from ignition sources, the grill needs considerably more room than it occupies itself. How much it occupies itself, we do not know, because the assembled dimensions are missing. If you have a tight spot, you should ask customer service for the dimensions before ordering.

On budget, the gas cylinder and a cover come on top of the approx. €449, and for both we have no Nexgrill prices.

On the warranty: if you want to leave a grill outdoors for ten years or longer, bear in mind that after one year only the tube burners are covered here. For these buyers, we would not name the Gourmet Pro as the first choice.

It is the wrong choice for anyone who wants to use the grill on the move. You can roll 57 kg across the patio, but not into a car boot, and the manual prohibits installation on a motorhome, trailer or boat. If you are still undecided between gas, charcoal and electric, the Grill Finder helps you narrow it down.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Nexgrill Gourmet Pro 4-Brenner

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for Nexgrill Gourmet Pro 4-Brenner.

What sets the Gourmet Pro 4 apart from the Gourmet Pro 6 and the cheaper Nexgrill 720-0925PF?

The Gourmet Pro 6 (model 720-1136A) has six stainless steel main burners instead of four, a ceramic side burner and a 4-in-1 grilling system, weighs 64 kg and was last listed at €499 on the manufacturer's site. The 720-0925PF is not part of the Gourmet Pro range: 11.75 kW, 27.8 kg, side hob with 2.5 kW, €279 on the manufacturer's site. A Griddle Max plate does not appear in its description.

Can I use the Gourmet Pro on a balcony?

The word balcony does not appear in the manual, but its requirements rule out many balconies in practice. If there is a wooden balcony or an awning above you, that is a combustible overhead structure, and according to Nexgrill the one metre clearance also applies below the cooking surface. Separately, your tenancy agreement and house rules may specifically regulate gas grilling on balconies. Ask your landlord before you buy.

Is a cover included, and how do I store the grill in winter?

A cover is not on the parts list, so you buy it separately. For storage, the manual has two requirements: if the grill is stored indoors, the gas cylinder must be disconnected and removed from the appliance. And if it is not used for a long time, it belongs in a dry, cool place. Gas cylinders themselves must not be stored in a building, a garage or any other enclosed space.

Can I grill with the Gourmet Pro in freezing weather?

Yes, the manual gives minus 17.8 °C (0 °F) as the minimum ambient temperature during operation. According to Nexgrill, cold weather and wind can lengthen the preheating time. Regardless of the manufacturer, the following applies: butane hardly vaporises below about 0 °C, while propane stays gaseous well below freezing. For winter, a pure propane cylinder is therefore the obvious choice.

How do I get spare parts for the Nexgrill 720-1126D?

Through Nexgrill's German customer service, by phone on +49 5251 875 6174 or by email to ServiceDE@nexgrill.de. To order, you need the model number from the data sticker on the inside of the grill door, plus the part number, description and quantity of the parts. You pay the shipping costs. According to the manual, components that the manufacturer has not approved can be dangerous and void the warranty.

What do I do if a burner will not light?

Turn the burner knob back to the circle symbol for OFF and wait 5 minutes for excess gas to clear, and only then light again. To light, you push in the knob, turn it to the flash symbol and hold the electronic ignition button down at the same time. The igniter runs on an AA battery (1.5 V), which is supplied. Keep your face and body as far away from the grill as possible when lighting it.

Which pots fit on the side burner?

Pots and pans with a diameter of 18 to 22 cm, which is the size Nexgrill specifies for the side burner. A large paella pan or a wok with a wide rim is therefore outside the specification. If you use the side burner with the lid closed, that lid gets hot. The side shelf next to it carries 5 kg at most, and according to the manual heavy items do not belong on it.

Can I convert the Gourmet Pro to natural gas?

No. The manual restricts the grill to liquefied petroleum gas and expressly rules out natural gas. For Germany, appliance category I3B/P at 50 mbar applies, which includes nozzles of 0.81 mm on the main burners and 0.69 mm on the side burner. We did not find a conversion kit from Nexgrill. The manual prohibits modifications to the appliance in any case, because any change can be dangerous.
