The Urban II is a gas table grill with two burners, a steel cooking hood and pot supports on which a cooking pot fits once the grate is removed. According to our price box, the Amazon offer discussed here costs approx. €170 (Amazon page on 20 October 2026: €169.90). Enders itself sets the RRP at €199.00.
What Enders sells under number 2070, and what is in the Amazon package
Enders Colsman is based in Werdohl and sells the grill under article number 2070. On the product page it is described as a further development of the Urban series, whose predecessor carried number 2095. Enders also sells the Urban II Pro (art. no. 2062) with a cast aluminium hood, and packages with a trolley. Output, grilling surface and weight are the same on the Pro.
The offer with ASIN B0G52L2CD1 is a package that does not exist in this form in the Enders catalogue. According to the Amazon text, it includes the grill, gas pressure regulator, hose and a digital meat thermometer. The delivery list in the Enders instructions, by contrast, lists only the thermometer in the hood for number 2070. We therefore know little about the extra thermometer: model, measuring range and battery type appear in none of our sources. The model number also differs, as Amazon lists the item as 990207001.
Why we treat the offer as the Urban II 2070 anyway: output, dimensions and weight in the Amazon catalogue match the model with the steel hood, and the product photo shows exactly this grill, with the Urban II lettering on the front and the thermometer next to it.
Burners, grate, hood and dimensions
Under the grate sit two stainless steel burners of 2.2 kW each, 4.4 kW in total. Each has its own control knob, continuously adjustable according to the Amazon text. Ignition is by piezo: press a control knob, turn it anticlockwise to the highest setting, then press the piezo button. You can ignite the second burner the same way. According to the instructions, though, it also starts by itself as soon as the first knob is at full power.
The grate is in two parts, one cast iron grate on the right and one on the left, both enamelled and with integrated flame covers. Together they give 49 x 32 cm, or 1,568 cm² of grilling surface according to Enders. Grease runs into a removable collecting tray.
The body is made of powder-coated cast aluminium, the cooking hood of powder-coated steel with a built-in thermometer. In the product photo the hood is flat and rectangular, the thermometer sits in the middle on top, with a transverse handle in front of it. The two control knobs are at the front of the combustion chamber, the ignition button between them.
Set up, the Urban II is 94 cm wide, 42 cm deep and 33.5 cm high. Without the side shelves the width is 68 cm. The shelves are made of plastic, and here the sources contradict each other slightly: Enders calls them removable and gives the narrow dimension for detached shelves, while Amazon writes of folding side tables. The grill is carried by two plastic frames with a carrying handle. It weighs 12 kg, and the working height is 23 cm.
In detail: two zones, reversible grate and pot supports
Two separately adjustable burners mean you can cook directly and indirectly side by side. Directly, the food sits over the flame and gets heat from below, which is the way for sausages and thin steaks. The instructions describe indirect like this: place the food over the switched-off burner, leave the other one burning, close the hood. The hot air under the hood then cooks the food without flames hitting the piece from below. Thicker pieces need this, so that they do not burn on the outside before they are cooked through inside. With two burners under 49 x 32 cm, each zone gets roughly half the surface by our calculation; Enders does not say how exactly the grilling surface is divided between the burners. Our guide to direct and indirect heat explains how the principle works.
The two cast iron grate halves have two usable sides. One is meant for grill marks, and Enders writes of sharp branding. The reverse is a flat frying surface, called the frying function in the instructions, on which small items can also stay that would otherwise slip between the bars. According to the instructions, the grate has to be turned over and inserted correctly for this; the right half goes to the left and vice versa. As a rule: cast iron stores a lot of heat, and the enamel layer protects it from rust as long as it does not flake off.
For the cooking function you remove the grill grate and place pots on the pot supports, which Enders describes as removable stainless steel pot supports. The instructions recommend diameters of approx. 16 to 20 cm and set 20 cm as the upper limit. That is enough for a pot of potatoes or a sauce. A large 28 cm frying pan is clearly beyond it.
With the hood closed, Enders mentions pizza, flammkuchen and bread. The instructions also have you preheat the pizza stone, for approx. 10 to 15 minutes at approx. 180 to 200 °C. That is the range of a household oven.
How long does a gas cylinder last on the Urban II?
At full power on both burners, the Urban II consumes 321 g of gas per hour according to the instructions. A 5 kg cylinder therefore lasts a good 15 hours at full load on paper, an 11 kg cylinder around 34 hours. With the burners turned down, it lasts correspondingly longer.
The calculation is ours, based on the connected load; a burn time per cylinder is stated neither on the product page nor in the instructions. For the 8 kg cylinder, just under 25 hours come out. Both burners usually run at full load only when preheating and searing, and with indirect cooking only one burns anyway.
According to the instructions, cylinders of 5, 8 or 11 kg should fit, and they stand next to the appliance. With a table grill that means the grill stands on top, the cylinder beside it, and the hose has to cover the distance. Enders gives the dimensions for this too. The 5 kg cylinder is approx. 47.0 cm high with a diameter of approx. 23.5 cm, the 8 kg cylinder approx. 46.0 cm high, the 11 kg cylinder approx. 59.0 cm; the two larger ones measure approx. 30.0 cm in diameter.
The box contains the accessories for the cylinder: a 50 mbar pressure regulator to DIN EN 16129 (type 694) and a hose to DIN EN 16436-2 (these standards apply in Germany and the EU), with a hose length of 0.8 m recommended. The Urban II is designed for propane (G31) and butane (G30), appliance category I3B/P for Germany and Austria, nozzle 0.65 mm. It was approved to DIN EN 498:2012 and DIN EN 484:2020.
Alternatively, the grill runs on a screw-in cartridge of approx. 450 g to DIN EN 417:2012 with a 7/16 inch thread; as the original, Enders names its cartridge art. no. 6322. For this you need, in addition to the cylinder regulator, a separate pressure regulator to DIN EN 16129, type 794. On the product page, Enders also sells a cartridge holder set for the Urban II and Explorer II series for €34.95. At full load, such a cartridge is empty in just under an hour and a half by the same calculation.
The product page lists further accessories with prices: the trolley for €99.90, which according to Enders gives the grill more height and storage space, a pizza stone and a cast plate 1/2 for €34.95 each, a stainless steel grill pan for €59.90 and a weather protection cover for €19.99. The Urban II Trolley is available ready-made as a package with an RRP of €279.
What else comes into question?
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enders Urban II table grill (this one) | 2 burners, pot supports for cooking, steel hood | approx. €170 | 8.2 | you want to grill at a table and occasionally put a pot on |
| Enders Urban II Pro | Cast aluminium cooking hood, otherwise the same key data | approx. €179 | 8.1 | a hood that cannot rust is worth a few euros to you |
| Weber Q 1200N | 1 burner, so no second zone | approx. €249 | 8.3 | you only grill directly and think Weber is worth the extra cost |
| Enders Monroe Pro 3 SIK Turbo | Grill trolley with 3 burners instead of a table appliance | approx. €529 | 8.9 | you have floor space in the garden and grill for larger groups |
Prices are guide values from our price boxes and can change daily. The rating is our editorial assessment from the data comparison, not a measurement result. You can find more table grills and grill trolleys in the Gas grill category.
When the Urban II fits and when another one does
First, the height. With a working height of 23 cm, the Urban II is a grill for a table, a wall or the trolley, not for the ground. On a 75 cm high garden table, the grate then sits just under one metre.
Enders gives no number of people. Our assessment: a grate of this size is made for a small household with occasional visitors. Anyone who regularly grills for eight people is more likely to end up with the Monroe Pro 3 SIK Turbo, a grill trolley with three burners that costs approx. €529.
The balcony is explicitly named as a place of use on the product page; the instructions require only outdoor operation and the clearances given in the next section. Whether gas is allowed on your balcony is governed by your tenancy agreement and house rules. We have compiled what matters here in our guide on grilling on a balcony.
The cooking function is the real reason for this grill. If you do not want it and only grill directly anyway, a grill with one burner is also an option, such as the Weber Q 1200N. It does, however, cost approx. €249 and has only one zone.
The Urban II Pro costs approx. €179 in our price box, and the Enders RRPs are €199 and €249. For that you get a hood made of powder-coated cast aluminium instead of steel, 2.5 cm higher. Aluminium does not rust, while steel stays rust-free only as long as the powder coating is intact. The Urban II instructions require the appliance to be stored in a frost-free, dry room anyway, with the hood closed and covered. Anyone who will not manage that after every season is, in our assessment, better served by the Pro.
For timing: the instructions allow approx. 10 to 15 minutes of preheating at full power. For the budget: with the weather protection cover and trolley from the Enders shop you end up at around €290, without a gas cylinder.
Setting up, connecting, cleaning: what the instructions require
“The gas grill may only be used outdoors”, as the instructions put it. It belongs on a level, stable surface, and sheltered from wind, even though Enders considers the burners protected against wind by the construction of the housing. There must be no objects or parts of buildings above the grill below a height of 1 m, measured with the hood open from its highest point. The ventilation openings stay clear, and moisture and splashing water stay away. During operation, the grill is neither moved nor left unattended.
For combustible and heat-sensitive materials, the instructions require a safe distance that according to the print must not be less than 0.5. No unit is given there. We therefore do not simply read the number as metres, and in case of doubt we would ask Enders. This is a selection; the safety pages of the instructions contain further points.
The grill may only be operated with a pressure regulator; the one supplied is set at the factory for liquefied gas. The union nuts have a left-hand thread. At the cylinder valve, you tighten the nut by hand, without tools, so that the seal is not damaged. Elsewhere the instructions require you to hold against it with a second spanner on the wrench flats provided on the appliance.
After assembly, you check all connection points with commercially available leak detection spray or soapy water, mixed from 1 part soap and 3 parts water. Then open the cylinder valve: where bubbles appear, there is a leak. A leak test with an open flame is strictly prohibited. You check the hose and pressure regulator for cracks and damage before every use, and if the regulator, hose or cylinder is defective or leaking, the grill stays off. The cylinder valve is only open while the grill is running. In case of a gas leak or a malfunction, you close it immediately. After use and before every change of location, the rule is: grill off, valve closed, cylinder removed, so that the pressure regulator and hose line are protected.
The hose must be serviced after 5 years, and the date of manufacture is printed on the hose itself. You replace the pressure regulator and hose after 10 years at the latest, even if nothing is visible on the outside. A new hose must not be longer than 1.5 m.
Cleaning takes place as soon as the grill has cooled down enough, after every use and once more before every use, to avoid grease deposits. Flammable cleaning agents are taboo, as are abrasive and chlorine-containing ones. You pull out the grease tray and dispose of the grease in an environmentally responsible way. You clear the inside of the cooking hood and the cast iron grates of residues and grease after every grilling session. You remove food residues from the burners with a soft brush, explicitly not a metal brush. You wipe the inside of the housing with warm soapy water, you may clean plastic parts with warm water and painted surfaces with a mild cleaner and warm water, then dry with a soft cloth. Before the next use, the grill must be completely dry.
Warranty, spare parts and the open points
Enders grants a voluntary warranty whose duration differs by component. The cooking hood unit and combustion chamber unit have 5 years against rusting through or burning through respectively. For the grease tray, stainless steel burners and enamelled cast iron grates, 3 years apply for the same, and also 3 years for plastic parts. Everything else, such as the ignition bridge, screws and thermometer, has 2 years. To secure the extended term, you register the grill with Enders within three months of the purchase date.
Excluded, among other things, is normal wear such as rust formation, colour fading, scratches or dents, as long as they do not impair function. Surface rust on the steel hood therefore does not fall under it in our reading, only rusting through does. Also excluded are damage from improper use, from extreme weather conditions, salty air, chlorine sources or acid rain, and from non-original parts or unauthorised repairs.
For spare parts, the instructions print a list with article numbers, including the right cast iron grate (130004109), the pot support (130004016), the thermometer (130004144) as well as gas pressure regulator and hose (130001045). In the Enders spare parts shop, the Urban II 2070 has its own entry.
After the product page and 24 pages of instructions, these points remain open: the maximum temperature under the hood, the distance between grate and burners, how the grilling surface is divided between the two burners, the material of the grease collecting tray, the country of manufacture, the year of market launch (the instructions carry version number 241031) and the warranty duration for those who do not register. In addition come the gaps described above regarding the Amazon meat thermometer, the burn time, and the unit of the minimum lateral clearance.
Who is it suitable for?
For two groups, the Urban II in this version is the wrong choice. Anyone with a gas outdoor socket on a caravan is better off looking at the Urban II Caravan (art. no. 207030), which runs on exactly this connection. And anyone who grills for a club or commercially should know that the Enders warranty applies only to privately used grills, explicitly not to those used commercially or in shared facilities.
The instructions also restrict the group of users: the appliance is not intended for use by children and by persons with a reduced ability to operate appliances.
We find it suitable for a small household that has a table or a wall outdoors and sometimes wants to make a side dish in a pot or a flammkuchen at the grill. Whether a table appliance or a grill trolley suits you better, you can work through in the grill finder.
