An electric grill trolley with a cast iron grate, no gas bottle

We never had the Enders eCRAVE 2 in our hands and have not grilled anything on it. Our basis is data: the Enders product page and the assembly and operating instructions (issue code 250204), both read on 14.10.2026, plus the Amazon catalogue data (retrieved on 05.10.2026). Whatever we calculated or assessed ourselves is marked as such.

At Enders, the eCRAVE 2 carries the article number 97116. It is an electric grill in trolley format: in the product photo, a body with a box-shaped hood and a round thermometer sits on a black storage cabinet with wheels, the control panel has two knobs, and two side shelves stick out left and right. Gas and charcoal are not needed, the grill hangs off the socket, and charcoal or similar fuels are ruled out according to the manual. Enders pitches the model at anyone looking for an extremely compact electric grill.

The Enders electric grill page lists exactly one eCrave, with no colour, edition or bundle variant, plus seven other electric grills. Two of them, the eFLAVOUR 2 Turbo and the eURBAN PRO 2 Turbo, we use in the table further down.

At Amazon, the eCRAVE 2 appears in our price box at approx. €249; the catalogue retrieval of 05.10.2026 returned €248.75. Enders lists €269.00 as the recommended retail price including VAT, and what a retailer charges on your purchase date may differ. That the Amazon number B0BRYG8194 belongs to this model is something we infer from the model number 97116 in the Amazon catalogue data, because the Enders product page does not link to an Amazon item.

Construction and technology

The two heating elements deliver 1.3 kW each. The grill grate measures 51 × 33.5 cm, which Enders puts at 1,709 cm², and is made of enamelled cast iron; the manufacturer justifies the material with heat retention. There is also a stainless steel warming rack, described by Enders as swing-away, for finished food. Its 48 × 12 cm appear only in the Amazon listing, not on the manufacturer’s page.

Cooking hood, combustion chamber, control panel and side shelves are made of powder-coated steel. The removable SIMPLE CLEAN parts, by contrast, are stainless steel according to the manual; the two statements concern different components and do not contradict each other.

The base is a storage cabinet with an additional shelf. The parts list names four wheels; the drawing shows a wheel with a lever.

Assembled, the eCRAVE 2 measures W 103 × D 51.5 × H 99 cm, and with the side shelves folded down only W 63 cm. The working height is 83 cm and the weight is 24.5 kg.

In detail: two heating zones, thermometer and preheating

Each knob belongs to one heating element: the left one starts and controls the left element, the right one the right element, and symbols on the control panel show the two grilling zones. Enders describes the zones as a way to grill and bake directly and indirectly. You know the principle from gas grills: one zone heats, the food sits on the other, and the hood stays closed. That is our reading of the zones, not a sequence of steps from the manual.

Besides grilling, Enders lists cooking meat, fish, vegetables and fruit; you set the temperature with the knobs and check it on the thermometer. It sits in the cooking hood, and its dial shows three ranges: LOW & SLOW from 0 to 120 °C, GRILLING from 120 to 270 °C and SEARING from 270 °C, according to the manual relating to the temperature directly at the grill grate. It has no numerical scale, so you read off a range and not a degree value.

Before the first grilling, you let the heating elements run for at least 20 minutes without food on the highest setting, until no more smoke rises. A slight smell is possible, so make sure there is ventilation. The colour of the SIMPLE CLEAN plates and the warming rack may change slightly; Enders calls this a natural process and not grounds for a complaint. Before every grilling session, you preheat for 15 to 20 minutes with the hood closed and both controls on the highest setting, depending on air temperature and wind. The manual names the same time window for the chosen control setting: there too the grill should heat up with the hood closed so that temperatures become constant. Enders advises keeping the hood closed as far as possible while grilling: the food cooks faster and more evenly, and frequent opening should be avoided.

On power: each zone has its own 1.3 kW heating element. Spread over the grate area, that is about 1.5 watts per square centimetre (our calculation: 2,600 watts divided by 1,709 cm²). The eFLAVOUR 2 Turbo arrives at the same value with 3,000 watts on 1,950 cm²; its Turbo Zone concentrates all the power on the right side of the grate according to Enders, while the eCRAVE 2 lacks this switching. Cast iron has a lot of mass and therefore stores heat, while a thin sheet-metal grate cools down faster under cold food. We have no measured values for this grate.

Which socket does the eCRAVE 2 need?

A correctly installed earthed socket that runs outdoors through a residual current device (RCD) with a trip current of 30 mA at most and carries 2,600 watts. Other high-consumption appliances must not be on the same circuit.

These are the manual’s statements. In addition there are 230 V and 50 Hz from the technical data; the supply voltage must match the rating plate. Divided by 230 volts, this gives about 11.3 amps (our conversion). How your circuit is protected is something only you know; the manual gives no amp figure for the fuse. At 16 amps, a common value in households and our assumption for your circuit, about 4.7 amps would be left, and a kettle would no longer fit alongside.

On extension leads the manual says: “Extension leads or plug adapters are not suitable for this appliance.” So the socket must be within cable reach.

After grilling, you turn both controls anticlockwise to Off, switch off the power button on the front, and only then pull the mains plug, so that nobody switches the grill on by accident. The plug stays pulled for as long as you are not grilling.

Setup and safety

Enders warns that ignoring the instructions can cause fire or explosion, with serious injuries, fatal accidents and property damage. What follows is an excerpt by topic; the manual itself is binding.

  • Location: Outdoors only, not indoors and not for commercial use. On a level, stable surface, sheltered from wind, not built into or pushed into a structure, and not in high-traffic areas.
  • Clearance: In operation at least 0.5 m from combustible and heat-sensitive materials. Above the grill there must be no objects or parts of buildings below a height of 2 m. At least 3 m from water bodies such as pools or ponds, so that the grill is not splashed or does not fall into the water.
  • Combustibles: Paper, partitions, curtains, cloths and chemicals must not touch the grill. The grilling surface must not come into contact with flammable gases or liquids such as petrol or alcohol.
  • Operation: Never leave unattended, do not move during operation, and use only with the control knobs fitted. When you open the hood, hot air can escape; you hold it firmly so that it does not fall down and nobody is trapped. With hot components, protective gloves belong on your hands, and you do not look directly at the glowing heating elements for long.
  • Side shelves: Not intended for direct contact with food.
  • Moving: Lock the wheels with the brake, fold the side tables down before moving, and only transport the grill once it has cooled.

You use the grill only as the manual describes; other uses can cause fire, electric shocks or personal injury, and it is not intended as a heater.

The word balcony does not appear in the manual, so the setup rules above apply. If your balcony has a roof, or there is a balcony above, the 2 m rule decides. On top of that come the 0.5 m to combustible or heat-sensitive material, such as a privacy screen. That is how we apply the numbers; it is not a statement from Enders about balconies. What your tenancy agreement and house rules allow is for you to clarify; the guide Grilling on a balcony puts the legal situation in context.

Fats and oils can ignite spontaneously when heated strongly, and with inadequate cleaning, accumulated fat catches fire. You therefore dab off excess fat and marinade before grilling, according to Enders only to prevent grease fires and not for the sake of flavour. The grease drawer stays in during grilling. You never extinguish burning, hot or smoking fat or oil with water. In case of a flare-up, you switch the grill off, pull the power cable and let it cool; in case of a fire, you get bystanders to safety and, if possible, pull the mains plug. The manual points out that fire can reignite spontaneously and explosively. How to prevent grease fires is covered in the guide Preventing grease fires.

Cleaning, accessories and warranty

According to Enders, SIMPLE CLEAN is patented. The combustion chamber and grease drawer have smooth surfaces without corners and edges and can be removed without tools. Enders requires cleaning before every use so that no fat deposits build up, and in addition after every use, especially on the inside of the combustion chamber, on the heating element holders and on the grease drawer; you dispose of the fat in an environmentally friendly way. For this the grill must be completely cooled and disconnected from the mains, individual components can have sharp edges, and Enders recommends safety gloves.

For the surfaces, the manual recommends the Enders grill cleaner (article number 4975) or a mild detergent. You wipe over with a damp cloth and dry all surfaces with a microfibre cloth; with a mild cleaner, its manufacturer’s instructions apply so that the surfaces are not damaged. Flammable, abrasive and chlorine-containing cleaning agents must not go near the grill. Before the next use the grill must be completely dry. You avoid immersing it in water or other liquids, as well as dropping it, knocking it and stepping on parts.

On the grate, you brush off coarse residue while hot with a stainless steel brush directly on the grill. After cooling, you take it out for thorough cleaning and reach for the Enders grill grate cleaner (article number 4974) or warm soapy water; you soak baked-on residue beforehand, then rinse with clean water. According to the manual, repairs and maintenance of electronic parts belong in the hands of authorised specialist personnel; you change nothing on the grill itself, and components sealed by the manufacturer stay untouched.

Among accessories, Enders lists two parts directly related to the eCRAVE 2. The Premium weather cover (article number 5690, recommended retail price €34.95) also fits the San Diego 2 and 3; according to the product page it is made of UV-resistant polyester, is waterproof, has a breathable membrane and an elastic band. The cast iron reversible plate 1/2 for the eCRAVE (article number 7896, recommended retail price €49.95) can be used on both sides, is made of solid enamelled cast iron and is intended by Enders for small items such as seafood, vegetables, fried eggs, bacon, fish and burgers. Together they cost €84.90 at recommended retail prices. For overwintering the grill, the guide Winterising your grill helps.

The Enders manufacturer warranty is voluntary. It applies to first buyers of grills bearing the warranty symbol, for example on the packaging, starts on the purchase date, costs nothing, is valid only in Europe and only for privately used products, and supplements the statutory warranty rights without restricting them. The periods according to the manual: cooking hood unit, combustion chamber unit and grease tray 3 years each against rust-through or burn-through; heating element, enamelled cast iron grates and warming rack likewise 3 years against rust-through or burn-through; plastic elements 3 years; electronics and all other parts, with the manual naming the ignition bridge, screws and thermometer as examples, 2 years. The extended warranty requires you to register the grill on enders-germany.com within three months of purchase; the duration varies by model. The wording separates rust-through, which is covered, from rust formation, which counts among the exclusions as normal wear.

What Enders does not state

These details are missing from the product page and the manual (issue 250204), as far as we have read both:

  • Maximum temperature in °C on the grate, and whether the SEARING range is reached
  • Heat-up time to a particular number of degrees
  • Power consumption in kWh per hour or per control setting, circuit protection in amps
  • PRCD included in the delivery (the manual speaks of an RCD in the electrics section and elsewhere of the grill’s PRCD)
  • Whether the controls work continuously or in notches
  • Number, individual dimensions, bar thickness and weight of the grate pieces (the parts list shows item 2 with quantity 2, the exploded drawing shows one grate part, the warranty points speak of cast iron grates in the plural)
  • Dishwasher suitability of the cast iron grate
  • Double wall, wall thickness and insulation of the cooking hood
  • Door, dimensions and load capacity of the storage cabinet and side shelves
  • Number of wheels with brake
  • Assembly time and number of people for assembly
  • For the 2 m height figure above the grill: the reference point from which it is measured
  • Number of people the grill is intended for
  • Minimum lateral distance to the wall beyond the general clearance from combustibles
  • Warranty duration without registration
  • Spare parts availability specifically for article 97116 (Enders runs a spare parts shop with product search; the search works dynamically and we did not check it)
  • Prices of the Enders cleaners 4974 and 4975 (not checked by us) as well as dimensions of the weather cover and cast iron reversible plate
  • GS mark on the appliance itself (the Technical data page shows GS, CE and WEEE marks)
  • Country of manufacture and market launch of the model (named are Werdohl as development site and the company history since 1883)

There are also contradictions between the sources. The manual gives D 52 cm, the product page and Amazon D 51.5 cm; for weight, the manual says 24.5 kg, the product page writes 24.5 without a unit, and the Amazon catalogue lists 52.91 pounds, converted about 24.0 kg. For dimensions we follow the product page and for weight the manual. The cable length appears only on the product page.

Landmann EG-II-590 3,200 W, 100 to 300 °C in 50 °C steps, timer, 59 × 40.5 cm approx. €550 9.4 you want to set temperature and timer and are prepared to spend about €301 more

The table does not work as a same-day price comparison: the prices are guide values from the price boxes of our reviews. The score is our editorial assessment based on manufacturer data and not a measurement result. More devices in this class are shown in the comparison of the best electric grills 2026.

When the eCRAVE 2, and when another?

The first decision is made at the circuit. Every electric grill in the table needs an earthed socket with residual current protection outdoors. With the eCRAVE 2 it must be within cable reach, because according to the manual extension leads and plug adapters are not suitable. The manuals of the eURBAN PRO 2 Turbo and eFLAVOUR 2 Turbo (issue 02/2026) mention an extension only as an exception, fully unrolled and 5 m long at most; if you need that, check there. If you divide the power by 230 V (our conversion), the eURBAN PRO 2 Turbo draws about 9.6 A, the eFLAVOUR 2 Turbo about 13.0 A and the Landmann about 13.9 A; the eCRAVE 2 lies in between with its value from above. On a tightly fused circuit, the smaller values have the advantage.

Next, the area: the eCRAVE 2 has a good 12 per cent less grate than the eFLAVOUR 2 Turbo and about 28 per cent less than the Landmann, whose 59 × 40.5 cm we convert to about 2,390 cm². Enders gives no number of people. Our assessment: for a small household we consider the grate suitable; anyone who regularly grills for larger groups should reach for one of the two larger grates.

Trolley or table? The eURBAN PRO 2 TURBO is also available as a trolley with wheels. Enders lists it at €349 recommended retail price, €80 above the eCRAVE 2 (€269 recommended retail price), and gives the same performance data as for the tabletop model, so 2.2 kW with a Turbo Zone. The tabletop model, at approx. €215, is the cheapest device in the table and sits about €34 below the eCRAVE 2; it needs a table as a base, weighs 13 kg and has a working height of 22 cm.

Searing hard at the push of a button is only possible with a Turbo Zone: on the eFLAVOUR 2 Turbo, which costs about €61 more than the eCRAVE 2, or on the eURBAN PRO 2 Turbo.

If you want to set degrees or use a timer, look at the Landmann. According to the manual, it sets 100 to 300 °C in 50 °C steps per heating element, and the timer runs up to 990 minutes. For that you pay about €301 more than for the eCRAVE 2, whose knobs cannot be set in degrees.

The eCRAVE 2 is wrong for commercial use, which the manual rules out; the warranty also does not cover communal installations. Whether electric, gas or charcoal suits your space is something the Grill finder helps to clarify.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Enders eCRAVE 2

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for Enders eCRAVE 2.

Is the power cable long enough, or can I use an extension lead?

According to the manual, extension leads and plug adapters are not suitable for the eCRAVE 2: they severely impair the residual current protection device and can cost you power. The power cable is 170 cm long according to the product page; the manual gives no length. You do not run it across walkways, it must not touch the hot grill, and you check it regularly for damage. A damaged plug or cable is replaced only by qualified personnel.

May children operate the eCRAVE 2?

Only by age. Children under 3 must be supervised at all times. Children from 3 to under 8 may only switch the grill on and off, provided they are supervised or instructed and it stands in its normal operating position; they may not adjust, clean or maintain it. From 8 years, use under supervision or after instruction is allowed, but cleaning and user maintenance are not allowed without supervision.

What can go in the dishwasher, and how do I clean the heating elements?

According to the manual, the removable SIMPLE CLEAN parts are made of stainless steel and are dishwasher safe or easy to clean by hand. No dishwasher approval is given for the cast iron grate. The heating elements are almost self-cleaning for light soiling; you remove heavier soiling carefully with a soft brush once the grill is off and fully cooled.

Can the eCRAVE 2 stay outside?

The manual gives the appliance protection class IPX4 (splash water from all directions) and the mains plug IP44, but still requires you to keep the grill away from moisture and splash water. For storage it names a frost-free, dry room, and only after the grill has cooled. The warranty excludes damage from extreme weather conditions. No weather cover is shown in the parts drawing.

How much work is the assembly?

You assemble the eCRAVE 2 yourself following the assembly and operating instructions. According to the key to the drawings, you need a Phillips screwdriver and a 17 mm open-ended spanner; according to the drawing, a spanner is among the small parts. The parts list has 20 numbered components and small parts in five groups, including 36 pieces from group B and two control knobs. Time needed and number of people are missing. Wear safety gloves when unpacking, because some components can have sharp edges.

What does the warranty exclude, and what do I need to make a claim?

Excluded are normal wear (rust formation, colour fading, scratches, dents without impaired function), improper use or assembly, misuse, neglected maintenance, extreme weather conditions, salty air, chlorine sources, acid rain and other environmental influences, non-original parts, and unauthorised repairs and modifications. For a claim you need the original proof of purchase, photos of the defect and the serial number; Enders repairs or replaces at its own discretion.

What does the eCRAVE 2 lack compared with the eFLAVOUR 2 Turbo?

The Turbo Zone and the SWITCH GRID grate, which the eCRAVE 2 page does not mention. For the eFLAVOUR 2 Turbo, Enders also lists a double-walled cooking hood, while for the eCRAVE 2 nothing is said about the wall of the hood. Then there are area and weight: according to Enders, the eFLAVOUR 2 Turbo weighs 31.5 instead of 24.5 kg, has a 210 instead of 170 cm cable, and measures W 108 × D 57 × H 108.5 cm. Enders lists it at €369 instead of €269 recommended retail price, so €100 higher. On the cooking hood and combustion chamber, it has 5 instead of 3 years against rust-through.

How much electricity does the eCRAVE 2 use per hour?

Enders gives no consumption figure, only the maximum power of 2,600 watts. That means an upper limit of 2.6 kWh per hour of operation if both heating elements run at full power; if only one runs, it is at most 1.3 kWh. As a worked example with an assumed 30 cents per kWh (your tariff counts), one hour at full load costs at most 78 cents.
