A tabletop gas plancha with an 80 by 50 centimetre plate
Behind the long Amazon title is the G-800 Plancha from Cozze. The brand has existed since March 2021, it is designed in Denmark, and the manual names Millarco International A/S from Lystrup as the manufacturer. On Amazon the unit costs approx. €525 (Amazon page on 20 October 2026: €525.00).
In Cozze’s plancha range (G-400, G-500, G-700, G-800) it is the only one with this surface. It has no grate, but a single griddle plate of 80 x 50 cm, so 4,000 cm². Three burners run underneath. The product photo shows a flat tabletop unit: a rectangular body on four short feet, a hinged lid with a bar handle, and three control knobs with red rings at the front. In our overview of gas grills, it therefore sits between compact planchas for two people and mobile gas grills with a lower cabinet.
Cozze itself names searing meat, vegetables and delicate seafood as the use. What works well on a plate is everything that would fall through a grate: fried eggs, onion strips, finely chopped vegetables, prawns.
Burners, housing, lid: the construction according to the data sheet
According to Cozze, the three burners are U-shaped and made of stainless steel. Together they deliver 7.5 kW. The manufacturer gives the maximum temperature as 435 °C, without saying where it is measured.
The housing is made of powder-coated, galvanised steel; Cozze lists black, stainless steel and aluminium as colours. The inside of the lid is lined with a heat-resistant aluminium plate, visible in the photo as a bright mirror under the open lid. The thermometer sits in the centre of it; the assembly pictures in the manual also show it as a round display in the lid. The grease tray is galvanised. Cozze describes the plate itself as a griddle with a non-stick surface, and Cozze states an LFGB approval for it; the declaration of conformity cites EU Regulation EC 1935/2004 on materials in contact with food.
The manufacturer gives the dimensions as 86 x 64.5 x 38 cm. Amazon lists 86 x 67 x 38 cm; we use the manufacturer’s value. These figures are the unit dimensions according to the manufacturer; the cooking surface is listed separately in the data sheet and was not calculated from them.
According to the parts list, the box contains the plancha plate, the main unit, four feet, a battery box, a bracket and small parts, plus four M6 x 30 screws and two M4 x 10 screws. The assembly page shows an angle wrench and an adjustable wrench. According to the declaration of conformity in the manual, the gas plancha meets EN 498:2012 and the EU Gas Appliances Regulation 2016/426; the type examination names DBI Certification A/S, dated 20 June 2023.
What Cozze does not state
Some details you would like to have before buying are missing from all the manufacturer sources we opened (product page, comparison page, FAQ, manual):
- Weight of the unit (Amazon reports 0 kg, which is an empty field)
- Material and thickness of the plate under the non-stick coating
- Output per burner; only the total is documented
- Heat-up time
- Measuring range and design of the lid thermometer
- Capacity of the grease tray
- Country of production
- Pressure and length of the regulator and hose in the package
In detail: three controls under one plate
On a grate, each burner almost alone decides the heat above it. A closed metal plate, by contrast, also conducts heat sideways. The zones therefore blend into one another instead of breaking off sharply. That is intended for a plancha: on the left the meat sears at full power, on the right vegetables cook on a low flame, and in between is an area where you can move finished food.
The manual allows any setting between high and low for this, for each of the three burners individually. How sharp the boundary between the hot and the cool side is on the G-800 depends on the material and thickness of the plate. Both are unknown, and nobody has measured it here. With a width of 80 cm and three burners, however, in our assessment there is enough distance for one side to run clearly cooler than the other.
The lid is not a must. According to the manual, food can be prepared with or without the lid closed; with the lid closed, you should pay particular attention to possible high heat build-up. Incidentally, the manual refers in several places to a “grill grate”, although the unit has none. It was evidently written for several gas appliances.
A word on the thermometer: a thermometer in the lid measures the air under the lid, not the surface of the plate. For plancha dishes, which are mostly cooked with the lid open, it therefore says little. If you want to know how hot the plate is, measure it from above with an infrared thermometer.
How do you light the G-800 Plancha, and what does the LED light show?
Electronically, with four batteries. You press the starter and the LED light turns white. Then you push the left burner’s knob down and turn it anticlockwise to 90°, full power. The light changes to red.
According to the illustration in the manual, the batteries are type AA, 1.5 V, and go into the battery box that is attached to the unit. In the product photo there is a small round button to the left of the three knobs; going by the assembly plan, we take it to be the starter. After grilling you must press the starter again, otherwise the light stays on.
Before the first lighting, the manual prescribes a fixed sequence. Open the lid, connect the bottle following the regulator’s instructions, set all knobs to “OFF”, then open the gas supply and check the hose and all connections for leaks with soapy water. If bubbles form, the unit is not to be put into operation. Only then comes the left burner, and the other two follow in the same way.
If a burner does not light after two attempts, you set the knob to “OFF” and wait 5 minutes before trying again. In our understanding, the pause gives escaped gas time to disperse. The manufacturer’s site names a flat battery as a frequent reason when the ignition fails. Further causes are collected in our guide gas grill will not light.
The old version of this page wrote that the burners light as soon as you turn them and that the light shows which burners are running. The manual does not support either of these: whether each knob has its own light or whether there is one indicator for the whole unit remains open.
Gas type, regulator and hose
The G-800 Plancha comes in two variants. The 90516 is designed for 28 to 30 and 37 mbar and has 0.78 mm nozzles. The 90517 is the version for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Slovakia, gas category I3 B/P (50), with 0.68 mm nozzles for 50 mbar. Which of the two Amazon ships under ASIN B0BFB7177Z is not documented. Retailers list 90516 as the manufacturer number.
For you, that means: before the first connection, look at the rating plate on the unit and at the print on the supplied regulator. In Germany, 50 mbar is the usual pressure for LPG appliances. If the unit and regulator do not match, the regulator should be replaced, not the unit “adapted”: the manual expressly prohibits tampering, and nobody may manipulate parts sealed at the factory. The manual does contain an inconsistency itself, though. Even the German version 90517 mentions in one place a regulator for a butane-propane mix at 30 mbar, although its data sheet states 50 mbar.
For the hose and regulator, the requirements are clear. The regulator must be certified to BS EN 16129:2013, the hose must comply with the EN 16436 standard and may be at most 1.5 m long. It is fastened to the regulator and the unit with hose clamps, and it must not be kinked, crushed or twisted and must not touch the unit.
For consumption, Cozze gives 546 g of gas per hour at a heat input of 7.5 kW. What a bottle costs depends on the retailer; which sizes are permitted and how long they last is covered in the questions below. Tips on buying bottles are collected in our guide to the gas bottle for the grill.
What else is worth considering?
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cozze G-800 Plancha (this one) | one continuous 80 x 50 cm plate, 7.5 kW, tabletop unit | approx. €525 | 8.4 | you want plenty of plate area on an existing table |
| Cozze G-800 COMBO | 43 x 40 cm plancha plus 42 x 40 cm grill grate, 9.5 kW | approx. €589 | 8.5 | you need a grate for sausages and steaks next to the plate |
| Enders AMARO 3 | stainless steel plate 69 x 45.5 cm, lower cabinet for bottles up to 11 kg | approx. €329 | 8.3 | your budget is tighter and the bottle should stand inside the unit |
| Weber Slate GP 56 cm | enamelled cast iron plate, 2,270 cm², two burners | approx. €458 | 8.4 | you mostly grill for a small group and want a cast iron plate |
The prices are our guide values from the price boxes and fluctuate in the shops. The rating is our editorial assessment based on the manufacturer data; the technical details of the three alternatives come from the product pages of Cozze, Enders and Weber.
When the G-800 Plancha, when another unit
Start with the space. The unit measures 86 x 64.5 cm in footprint, and the manual requires 1 metre of clearance all around when setting it up. On paper you therefore need an area of 2.86 x 2.65 m in which nothing flammable stands. On top of that comes a table, because the plancha stands only on its feet. According to the manual, the unit and gas bottle must stand on a level surface.
Then the surface. 4,000 cm² is a good 76 percent more than the 2,270 cm² of the Weber Slate GP 56 cm and a good 27 percent more than the 3,140 cm² of the Enders AMARO 3. For how many people that is enough, no manufacturer says, and we would not make up a figure. You will best tell whether you would really fill the large plate by how often you currently fry in several batches in the pan.
On budget, the alternatives lie on both sides. The G-800 Plancha costs approx. €525. The Enders AMARO 3 is at approx. €329 and comes with a lower cabinet. The Weber Slate GP 56 cm costs approx. €460 but has the smallest plate in the comparison. The Cozze G-800 COMBO is at approx. €589. With the G-800 Plancha, add the gas bottle and, if you do not have a suitable table, the separate cart.
And finally the question of whether you want a plate at all. If you mainly make steaks with grill marks and sausages from a grate, you are better served by a classic gas grill such as the Weber Spirit II E-310, which at approx. €460 even costs less than the Cozze at approx. €525. Our grill finder asks about these points one after another.
Cleaning, care and setup according to the manual
Cleaning and servicing are only done when the product has cooled down and the gas supply at the bottle is closed. Food residues burn off if you let the unit keep running for 15 minutes after grilling.
For the plate, the manual names a mild soapy water solution and prohibits hard steel brushes. On the manufacturer’s site, Cozze adds: warm water and mild soap are fine, sharp or abrasive cleaners are not, and after cleaning the plancha should be dried thoroughly and lightly oiled so that it is protected from rust. You free the underside of the plate of residues with a brush, scraper or cleaning pad and then wash it with soapy water.
For the other parts, according to the manual:
- Exterior surfaces: mild detergent or baking soda dissolved in hot water; for stubborn dirt, non-abrasive scouring powder, then rinse with water.
- Lid interior: if the surface looks like peeling paint, it is baked-on grease that has turned to carbon. Clean with a strong hot soapy water solution, rinse, and let it dry completely. Never use oven cleaner.
- Plastic parts: soft cloth and hot soapy water solution, rinse with water; no abrasives, degreasers or concentrated cleaners.
- Grease tray: do not open it during use; check it in good time and remove the oil when it is one third full.
Before storing, you wipe the unit free of grease with a damp cloth and mild detergent and put it in a clean, dry place. It may only be kept indoors if the gas bottle is disconnected and removed. The bottle itself does not belong in the house, but upright in a well-ventilated place outdoors, out of direct sun and never anywhere that can get warmer than 50 °C. More on caring for gas appliances is in our guide cleaning a gas grill.
On setup, Cozze writes: use only outdoors, never in enclosed spaces, keep away from flammable materials, with mineral-oil-based products and thinners named. When changing the bottle, there must be no ignition sources nearby. The unit needs sufficient ventilation for combustion. And after grilling, the gas is turned off at the bottle valve or the regulator, and only then do the knobs go to “OFF”.
Who is it suited for?
For people with a permanent spot in the garden or on the terrace who have a sturdy table or Cozze’s cart and regularly prepare griddle dishes for a larger group. If you already know you want grill marks, go for the COMBO or a grate grill.
The G-800 Plancha is the wrong choice for anyone who wants to take a grill along. According to the manual, the unit must not be moved during operation, Cozze states no weight, and parts get so hot that the manufacturer expressly warns against letting small children near it. If you change location often, you are better off looking for a unit with a published weight. For the Weber Slate GP 56 cm, for example, it is in the data sheet: 24 kg.
