In the product photo there is a grill grate on the left, a plancha on the right, and a shared lid closes over both. The Cozze G-800 COMBO has no base: the manual lists it as a “portable gas grill”, meaning an appliance for a table or a cart. At Amazon it costs approx. €589 (Amazon page on 20 October 2026: €588.90). This is about the German version with model number 90506, which is built for 50 mbar.
A combination grill from Denmark, with two namesakes
Cozze is a grill brand of Millarco International A/S from Lystrup in Denmark, and Millarco is also named as the manufacturer in the manual. In our gas grill category, the G-800 COMBO is one of the appliances that combine grate and plate side by side in a fixed layout, rather than having one continuous surface.
It is easy to confuse. The G-800 Plancha (without COMBO in the name) is a pure plate grill from Cozze, and the Combo 900 is a different combination appliance with an infrared burner. Both appear further down in the table, with the point that separates them from the COMBO.
For the EU Gas Appliances Regulation 2016/426, DBI Certification A/S has issued an EU type examination under Module B, number 2531DO-0194. The declaration of conformity dated 5 February 2024 also names the standards EN 498:2012 and ISO 4531:2018. EN 498 is the European standard for outdoor LPG grills. ISO 4531 governs how much lead and cadmium enamelled surfaces may release to food; that this standard appears here fits an enamel on the cooking surfaces. The product page also says “LFGB-tested”, meaning tested under the German Food and Feed Code (Lebensmittel- und Futtermittelgesetzbuch).
In detail: three burners, fixed layout
Under the lid, three U-shaped stainless steel burners do the work. According to the Amazon text, two of them sit under the grate and one under the plancha. This layout is built in. You can turn the plate side up fully and keep the grate side small, but you cannot turn the grate side into a second plancha or the other way round. With appliances that have interchangeable inserts the situation is different, more on that in the table.
On output, two figures are in circulation. The product page states 9.5 kW. In the “Technical Information” table of the manual there is a heat input of 10 kW, expressly based on the gross calorific value (Hs), plus a gas flow rate of 728 g per hour. Values based on the gross calorific value are generally higher than those based on the net calorific value, because the gross calorific value includes the condensation heat of the water vapour. What the 9.5 kW refers to is not stated.
From the 728 g you can at least derive an upper limit for consumption. With all three burners at full output, an 11 kg propane bottle is empty after a good 15 hours by calculation (11,000 g divided by 728 g). If you turn the burners down, you get correspondingly further.
According to the same table, the nozzles are 0.75, 0.75 and 0.86 mm. So two are the same size and one is larger, and a larger nozzle lets more gas through at the same pressure. That fits the two-plus-one layout, although the table does not assign the nozzles to a burner.
As maximum temperatures, Cozze states 460 °C for the grill and 440 °C for the plancha. According to the manual, you light it with the lid open, with the left burner first: push the knob down and turn it anticlockwise to the 90° position, which is full output. A click is meant to ignite the burner, after which you check that it is burning. The sentence “Never light the product with the lid closed” also appears in the safety instructions.
Grate on the left, plancha on the right: surfaces and material
According to the product page, the grilling surface measures 42 × 40 cm, which is 1,680 cm². For the plancha, the same page gives 43 × 40 cm once and 43 × 40.5 cm elsewhere, so around 1,720 cm². Together you have about 3,400 cm² of cooking surface, spread over two halves that can each only be heated by their own burner. These are manufacturer figures for the surfaces themselves, not calculated from the outer dimensions.
On the material, the sources contradict each other. The Amazon text names the grill grate and plancha as enamelled cast iron and the housing as powder-coated. The manufacturer’s page describes the plancha as a “non-stick coated griddle surface” and leaves the “Material” field empty. The two do not have to exclude each other, because smooth enamel is often advertised as non-stick. A genuine non-stick layer such as PTFE would, however, be a different material with different rules for spatulas and heat. The manual has you scrape across the plate with a spatula for cleaning, and the ISO 4531 standard in the declaration of conformity targets enamel. Our assessment: it is probably enamelled cast iron, but this is only documented by the Amazon text.
The plancha plate has a hole that is open while frying and can be closed with a supplied “plug”. According to the product page, two grill plates and a warming rack 815 mm long are also included. In the photo this rack lies across the back, over both halves. The parts list in the manual has nine items, two of them twice, but it is a picture panel without labels and helps little with checking.
For the grate, the manual allows both: food “with or without the lid closed”, and with the lid closed you should “pay particular attention to possible high heat build-up”.
Knobs, display, weight: what photo and catalogue show
In the photo, three red control knobs sit at the front, with a digital display between the second and the third. Cozze lists “2 x digital thermometer”. Whether these are two measuring points in the cooking chamber, whether one of them measures in the plate, or whether the display shows two values alternately cannot be derived from the photo and product page.
The appliance has no wheels; it stands on short feet. Amazon lists a weight of 83.78 pounds, converted approx. 38 kg. We would therefore lift the grill onto the table with two people. Cozze gives the dimensions as 85.5 × 59.5 × 48.5 cm, the Amazon catalogue as 61 × 48.5 × 85.5 cm. Which value is depth and which is height is not assigned by either source.
Cozze sells the matching base separately. According to the product page, the cart has room for the gas bottle, tool hooks and folding side tables. Without it you need a stable table, because the manual requires: “The appliance and the gas bottle must stand on a level surface and must not be moved while it is in operation.”
Which gas pressure does the G-800 COMBO need in Germany?
50 mbar. According to the table in the manual, version 90506 is classified in category I3 B/P (50), for Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Slovakia. For other countries there is the 30 mbar version 90505 with its own manual. Pay attention to this number when buying.
On pressure, however, the manual is not entirely clean. On pages 3 and 6 there are general paragraphs saying the appliance is designed for a 28 to 30 mbar regulator for butane and a 37 mbar regulator for propane. That contradicts the table on page 2. We consider the table authoritative, because it belongs to the rating plate and names the countries of destination. The manual also demands that you operate the product only at the pressure it is designed for and use a regulator certified to BS EN 16129:2013. Butane (G30), propane (G31) and mixtures of them are approved.
According to the Amazon text, Cozze includes the pressure regulator (“incl. gas pressure regulator”). The product page and parts list, by contrast, do not mention it, and whether a hose is in the box is likewise open. The gas bottle is expressly marked “Not included” in assembly step 6. What you need in the way of bottle and accessories is covered in the guide Gas bottle for the grill.
Connection is made in this order: assemble the grill according to the assembly instructions, hose to the appliance, regulator to the hose, regulator to the bottle valve, all knobs to “OFF”, only then open the gas supply. You fasten the hose to the regulator and appliance with hose clamps or nuts.
Setting up, leak check, cleaning: the manual’s wording
This is about gas and open flame, so the requirements are given as Cozze words them. “The appliance is intended for outdoor use only.” Use in enclosed spaces “can be dangerous and is FORBIDDEN”. When setting up, “a clearance of 1 metre must be kept” all round. Combustible materials such as mineral oil products and thinners do not belong nearby. At wind speeds above 3 m/s, the opening of the grill must face away from the wind. The manual calls sufficient ventilation decisive “for combustion and efficiency”.
The manual describes the leak check step by step. You mix approx. 100 ml of soap solution from 1 part washing-up liquid and 3 parts water. The control knob is at “OFF”, then you connect the gas bottle and open the regulator. The solution goes onto the hose and all connection points. If bubbles form, there is a leak that must be fixed before use; in case of a leak, you close the gas bottle. After the repair you check again and finally close the bottle. If you cannot get the leak sealed, contact your gas dealer.
You may only clean and maintain the appliance when it has cooled down and the gas supply at the bottle is closed. Cozze recommends doing so at least once a month. If you let the grill run for 15 minutes after the meal, food residue is burned off.
The plancha plate has its own sequence, and because the order matters, here it is in full:
- Set the heat to the lowest level and wait 5 minutes.
- Close the hole in the plate with the supplied plug.
- Put half a litre of cold water or ice cubes on the plate and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to loosen residue.
- Scrape the coarsest residue into the hole with a spatula.
- Remove the rest with a sponge, adding more water or ice cubes if needed.
- Rub the clean plate thinly with cooking oil using kitchen paper or a dry cloth.
- Empty the grease tray.
For the outer surfaces, the manual names a mild detergent or baking powder dissolved in hot water, and for stubborn dirt non-abrasive scouring powder followed by rinsing. Abrasives, degreasers and concentrated product cleaners have no place on plastic parts. If the inside of the lid looks like peeling paint, according to Cozze that is carbonised grease: clean with strong hot soap solution, rinse, let dry completely. In capital letters it says: “NEVER USE OVEN CLEANER”. You clean the burners with the bottle disconnected and the grate removed, using a soft brush or compressed air, and clogged openings with a pipe cleaner or an unbent paper clip; a burner with cracks or holes is replaced. More on the technique is in the guide Cleaning a gas grill.
And once a year, according to the manual, “a competent, registered person” should service the grill. Interventions on the appliance are prohibited, and an unauthorised intervention voids the warranty.
What Cozze leaves open
We found these points neither on the product page nor in the 17-page manual 90506:
- Output per burner in kW
- Weight from a manufacturer source (the approx. 38 kg come from the Amazon catalogue)
- Material of the lid and housing, the material field on the product page is empty
- Type of ignition
- Measuring location and measuring principle of the two thermometers
- Heat-up time to the 440 or 460 °C
- A method for indirect grilling
- Warranty period and warranty terms
- Spare parts supply and country of production
These three alternatives are worth a look
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cozze G-800 COMBO (this one) | 3 burners, fixed split into grate 42 × 40 cm and plancha 43 × 40 cm | approx. €589 | 8.5 | you want sear marks and plate dishes about equally often |
| Cozze Combo 900 2-in-1 | Infrared burner under a narrow grate of 26.5 × 48 cm, plus a larger plancha of 53.5 × 48 cm | approx. €519 | 8.5 | you need more plate than grate and want a hot zone for searing |
| Char-Broil Versa-Tile | three interchangeable inserts (griddle, cast iron grate, pizza) on 70 × 50 cm, two zones | approx. €520 | 8.3 | you want to reconfigure the whole surface depending on the evening |
| Cozze Plancha Gasgrill 800 × 500 | continuous plancha 80 × 50 cm, no grate | approx. €525 | 8.4 | you cook almost only on the plate |
The surface figures come from the manufacturers’ pages (Cozze, Char-Broil UK), the prices from our price boxes and fluctuate. The rating is our editorial assessment from the data comparison; we did not measure anything on any of the four appliances.
When the G-800 COMBO fits and when it does not
The first question is the ratio of grate to plate. With the COMBO it is roughly half and half and cannot be changed. If you mainly make smash burgers, vegetables or fried eggs and only need the grate now and then, the continuous Cozze Plancha Gasgrill 800 × 500 for approx. €525 is the more direct choice. If you need both but more plate, the Combo 900 is at approx. €519.
If you want to decide the split yourself, the Char-Broil Versa-Tile for approx. €520 is the counter-model: there, according to Char-Broil, you swap griddle, cast iron grate and pizza insert on the same surface. The COMBO ties you to its two halves, but you do not have to rebuild anything.
Then the location. Without wheels and at approx. 38 kg, the COMBO is a grill for a fixed spot on a terrace or garden table, not for a weekly move. For the balcony, the manual’s rules on clearance and outdoor operation apply, plus your tenancy agreement and house rules; what is typically allowed there is covered in the guide Grilling on a balcony.
On budget, add the gas bottle to the approx. €589 and, if there is no suitable table, the Cozze cart. We have no price for the cart.
And finally the cooking method. For large roasts with the lid down and indirect heat, the COMBO is in our assessment the wrong choice: it has three burners on two separate surfaces, and instructions for indirect grilling are missing. If you regularly want to cook whole chickens or pulled pork, you are better served by a classic gas grill cart with a hood lid; the Grill finder narrows this down by number of people and available space.
