Our assessment: The set suits you if you want all four basic tools at the lowest price in our comparison, like wooden handles and wash by hand. If you need dishwasher safety, longer pieces or a documented bristle and steel specification, look at the Weber Precision, the Burnhard stainless steel set or Rösle.

Four pieces in acacia and stainless steel

Burnhard sells the set in its own shop as “Grillbesteck Akazienholz 4-tlg.” under item number 943558. On Amazon the same set carries the model number 943558_0, so it matches the manufacturer’s number. The box contains a pair of grill tongs, a grill spatula, a grill fork and a grill brush. According to Burnhard’s technical data, the handles are acacia and the functional parts stainless steel.

We have not held or used the tool set. What is written here comes from Burnhard’s product page (retrieved on 20 October 2026), from Burnhard’s warranty page, from the Amazon catalogue and from the product photo. Where we calculate or infer, we say so.

In our grill accessories category, the set counts among the tool sets, that is, hand tools not tied to a type of grill. Tongs turn food on a kettle grill just as well as on a gas grill. In the Burnhard shop the set costs approx. €34.90 (as of 20 October 2026). Of the four sets we set side by side below, it is the cheapest.

A bag or gift box is not included. The scope of delivery on the manufacturer’s page says only “Akazienholz Grillbesteck, Set 4 teilig” (acacia wood grill tool set, 4 pieces). Our earlier text had promised a storage bag; we found no evidence for it at Burnhard.

What the individual pieces can do according to Burnhard

All four pieces are 42 cm long according to the manufacturer’s table. The same table also says “Gesamt 168 cm” (total 168 cm), which is merely the sum of the four lengths.

The tongs have angled grippers. Burnhard says they can pick up small prawns as well as thick steaks. The tong handle contains a locking mechanism that lets you keep the tongs closed and store them in a space-saving way. In the photo they are built differently from the other three pieces: instead of a continuous wooden handle they carry two narrow wooden inlays roughly in the middle of the arms, and the rear end is bare metal with an angular bow.

The spatula has an elongated perforation, in the picture four slots in the blade. According to Burnhard, excess fat and meat juices should drain off through them when you pick up a patty. The blade is angled against the neck. On the wooden handle two round fixing points can be seen, and the same on the fork.

The fork has two pointed tines and is intended by Burnhard mainly as a holder when carving, with a rolled roast as the example, and fish besides. We would not use it for turning. Every prick opens up the meat, and the tongs are there for turning.

For the brush, Burnhard emphasises the slim shape: at 42 cm it is meant to reach into the corners of the grill. Its head has three bristle coils that each enclose the bars of the grate individually. In the photo these are three twisted wire spirals side by side, covered all round with dark bristles and connected to the shaft by a sleeve.

In detail: length, wood and the spiral brush

How close your hand gets to the embers is decided, with a tool set, mainly by the length. At 42 cm, this set is the shortest in our comparison. Burnhard’s stainless steel set reaches approx. 46.5 cm on the tongs, and Rösle gives 44 cm for the tongs in the BBQ Premium set. Compared with the stainless steel sibling, 4.5 cm are therefore missing.

Over a charcoal grill with full embers, where you work above the grate for a long time, a few centimetres count. On a gas grill, where you open the lid, turn and close it again, they weigh less in our assessment.

For the wood, a look at the physics is worthwhile. Wood conducts heat far more poorly than stainless steel, so a wooden handle over the grate warms up more slowly than a metal handle of the same shape. For the steel, Burnhard promises that it is “besonders hitzebeständig” (especially heat resistant); a temperature limit for the handles is missing. For all wooden handles the rule is: wood does not belong on the grate or in the flame, even if it does not catch fire immediately there.

With the tongs the argument holds only half. Their rear end is metal in the picture, and metal absorbs heat quickly when it lies on the side table next to the hot lid. We would therefore rather hang them than put them down.

Burnhard also describes the brushed stainless steel as not altering the smell or taste of the meat. That is a manufacturer statement that we can neither confirm nor refute.

Spiral brushes work differently from a flat block with one row of bristles. The spiral wraps around the individual bar and cleans it on top and on the flanks in one pass. That suits grates with round bars that a spiral can fit between. On a plancha or a cast iron plate with wide, flat ridges the design has no advantage, and there we would rather scrape with a spatula.

What the bristles are made of remains open, and with coated grates that is no small matter. Rösle, for example, recommends brass brushes in its service FAQ for chrome-plated and enamelled cast iron grates, and steel or brass for stainless steel grates. As a general rule with any wire brush: check the grate for loose bristles after brushing, before food is put on it again. More on grate materials is in our grill grate guide.

What does the set cost with shipping?

In the Burnhard shop you pay approx. €41.89 if you order only the tool set: €34.90 for the set and €6.99 standard shipping (as of 20 October 2026). Shipping is free there only from an order value of €99.

Spread over four pieces, one tool costs approx. €8.73 without shipping, calculated by us. Burnhard states the item as in stock, with dispatch in 2 to 4 working days, and grants a right of return of 30 days. Seller and manufacturer is Burnhard GmbH, Heesenstraße 31, 40549 Düsseldorf.

Amazon has its own price, which changes more often. The price box above shows the current value; we do not copy it into the text here.

What Burnhard does not state

For a purchase where care and durability matter, quite a lot is missing, collected here: a weight for the set or a single piece, the stainless steel grade (for example 18/10 or 18/0) and a material thickness in millimetres, although Burnhard speaks of thick stainless steel for the spatula, the material of the brush bristles, whether the brush head is replaceable, which types of grate the brush is intended for, a temperature limit for the wood, a statement on the dishwasher for handles and steel, care instructions for the acacia (oiling, hand washing), the country of origin, the market launch, and an instruction manual or data sheet as a PDF.

Our earlier text had filled in gaps at exactly these points. It said the stainless steel heads tolerate the dishwasher without problems, that the handles should be oiled every few months, and that the heads are thinner than on more expensive sets. We found no source for any of these three statements, and the thinner heads even contradict Burnhard’s own wording about thick stainless steel. We have deleted them.

What we advise ourselves is general kitchen practice and not a Burnhard specification: wood absorbs water and moves as it dries. A wooden handle should therefore not lie in washing-up water for long or go through a dishwasher cycle; it is better to wash by hand and dry straight away. Since head and handle are firmly joined, the wood would go into the machine as well.

What else comes into question?

Model The difference Price Our rating Choose this one if
Burnhard Grillbesteck Akazienholz 4-tlg. (this one) Acacia handles, all four pieces 42 cm, brush with three spirals approx. €31.41 8.3 you want tongs, spatula, fork and brush at the lowest price
Burnhard Grillbesteck Edelstahl 4-tlg. ABS handles, tongs approx. 46.5 cm, replaceable brush head approx. €49.90 8.1 you want no wood on your tools and want to be able to replace the brush head later
Weber Precision Grillbesteck 3-tlg. dishwasher safe according to Weber, tongs, spatula and basting brush without fork and brush approx. €38.89 8.7 you want your tools in the dishwasher and already have a fork and a brush
Rösle BBQ Premium 3-tlg. Tongs in 18/10 stainless steel, aramid gloves, SlideX brush with replaceable bristle set, no spatula approx. €46 8.9 gloves and a stated steel grade matter more to you than a spatula and fork

The prices come from our price box and change; the rating is our editorial assessment from the manufacturer data. We have not measured anything on any of the four sets.

When this set, when another

Only the two Burnhard sets in our comparison have four tools with a fork and a brush. The Weber set replaces fork and brush with a basting brush, and the Rösle set consists of tongs, gloves and a brush. If you really need all four pieces, two candidates remain: the wooden set for approx. €34.90 and the stainless steel set for approx. €49.90.

In favour of Burnhard’s stainless steel set are the longer pieces and the replaceable brush head. If you work a lot over the embers on a charcoal grill or see the brush as a wearing part, you get both there. If you do not want plastic handles, stay with the wood.

If the tools should go in the dishwasher, neither of the two Burnhard sets is the right choice. The Weber Precision Grillbesteck is dishwasher safe according to Weber, costs approx. €38.89 in our price box against approx. €34.90 for this one, and has a basting brush instead of a fork and a brush. For the Rösle set, by contrast, the data sheet expressly says that it does not belong in the machine.

If you have an enamelled or chrome-plated grate, we would hold off on this set’s spiral brush until you know what the bristles are made of. You would then have to buy a brass brush separately; the tongs, spatula and fork from this set do not get in the way on such grates. The Rösle set costs approx. €46 instead of approx. €34.90, brings gloves made of meta-aramid and a brush handle onto which Rösle fits stainless steel or brass bristle sets. Spatula and fork are missing there.

Measured by budget, the situation is clear: the wooden set is the cheapest of the four. If you add shipping in the Burnhard shop, you arrive at approx. €41.89, while the Weber set stands at approx. €38.89 in our price box. What shipping applies to the Weber set, we have not looked into.

Who is it suited to?

Our assessment: The set suits you if you like wood at the grill, want all four basic tools in one purchase and wash by hand anyway. Anyone who often fries burgers on a plancha also finds in the perforated spatula a tool that Burnhard expressly describes for patties; how to prepare them is in our guide to grilled burgers.

It is the wrong choice for two groups. First, for everyone who generally puts grill tools in the dishwasher. Second, for people with a coated grate who need a documented bristle specification before they run wire across it.

If you would also like the wood at the chopping board: according to the shop, Burnhard lists chopping boards, a single grill brush and a steak knife set with a box made of acacia wood in the same acacia wood range.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Burnhard Grillbesteck Akazienholz 4-tlg.

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for Burnhard Grillbesteck Akazienholz 4-tlg..

Can the tools go in the dishwasher?

On the wooden set's page, Burnhard says nothing about it, neither for the handles nor for the steel. For the sister set Grillbesteck Edelstahl 4-tlg. (stainless steel, 4 pieces), however, Burnhard prescribes hand washing with washing-up liquid and water, followed by thorough drying. We think it unlikely that the set with wooden handles is meant to tolerate more than the one with plastic handles. We would therefore wash it by hand as well.

Is the acacia wood FSC certified?

Burnhard does not confirm this for the set on its own product page, where the handle entry says only the word acacia. The FSC label appears in two other places: in the Amazon product text for this set and on Burnhard's page for the individually sold tongs from the same wood range. It is therefore likely, but for the set it is documented only via Amazon. If the label is a condition of purchase for you, ask Burnhard customer service beforehand.

Can I buy the tongs separately as a replacement?

Yes, Burnhard sells a Grillzange Akazienholz (acacia wood grill tongs) separately, item number 941051, in the manufacturer's shop for €14.90. According to the data sheet it has a locking mechanism and a hanging loop, and the handle is listed there as FSC-certified acacia wood. Burnhard does not say whether it is identical in construction to the tongs in the set. Burnhard also lists a single Grillbürste Akazienholz (acacia wood grill brush) in the same wood range; Burnhard does not say whether it is identical in construction to the brush in the set. We did not find a single spatula or a single fork in the shop.

Does Burnhard give a warranty on the set?

We did not find a separate manufacturer warranty for the tool set. According to the warranty page, the BURNHARD Premium Garantie applies only to selected premium products, naming 10 years for the GRANT and 5 years for the Fat TONY. Accessories that go with the product are expressly excluded. For the set, that leaves the seller's statutory warranty and, if you buy in the Burnhard shop, the right of return.

Can I hang the tools on the grill?

Yes. According to Burnhard, the handle ends have a loop for hanging, and Amazon's product text speaks of hanging loops on every tool and names the grill or a kitchen rail as the place. In the product photo, these are oval holes at the end of the wooden handle on the spatula, fork and brush. The tongs, by contrast, end in metal; whether their angular bow is the loop is not described in detail by Burnhard.

Is the spatula good for smash burgers?

Burnhard says yes: the thick stainless steel allows you to smash patties directly on the grill's griddle plate. That means a closed surface such as a plancha or cast iron plate; on a grate with bars, a patty cannot be pressed flat. A millimetre figure for the steel is missing. From the shape we infer that soft mince is pushed up through the slots in the blade when smashing more readily than with a closed blade.

How big is the package?

The Amazon catalogue gives 17.32 x 10.04 x 3.15 inches, converted approx. 44.0 x 25.5 x 8.0 cm. It does not say whether that describes the packaging or the laid-out set. Both would be plausible, because 44 cm is just above the length of the individual pieces. Burnhard itself lists the set as one package. For a drawer, we would allow for a good 44 cm of depth.
