The Spirit E-410: gas grill with four stainless steel burners
The Weber Spirit E-410 (article number 1500886) runs on liquefied gas and has four stainless steel burners. The manufacturer is Weber-Stephen Products LLC of Palatine, Illinois; in Germany, Weber-Stephen Deutschland GmbH is responsible for customer service. The German Weber site lists exactly one version, black. The Amazon catalogue gives 20.05.2025 as the release date.
On price: our price box shows approx. €548 at Amazon. That is a guide value and a snapshot; what counts is what the seller shows you on the day you buy.
The operating manual is not a single-model manual. It covers the Spirit models E-210, E-310, E-410, E-425 and E-335 (built from 2025) and deals with features that appear only on “selected models”. That is why we quote from it only what applies to all models or explicitly concerns the E-410.
Equipment according to Weber: built-in lid thermometer, two side tables, four utensil hooks, two all-weather wheels and a grease management system with a removable tray. The product photo also shows four control knobs in a row, a closed lower cabinet and two shelves left and right of the cooking hood. A cooktop on one of the side tables is not visible.
In detail: burners, zones and cast iron
Weber gives the output of the main burners as 8.21 kW; the manual rounds this to 8.2 kW for propane. Each of the four burners has its own knob and is lit individually. That is the basis for what gas grill buyers usually want: a direct zone, where the food sits over lit burners, and an indirect one, where nothing burns underneath and the heat arrives only through the air in the closed hood. That this works is construction logic. Whether the burners run across or along under the grate is likewise not stated in the manufacturer’s information, so we cannot say whether the zones run left and right or front and back.
The cooking chamber is made of cast aluminium. The grates are porcelain-enamelled cast iron, the Flavorizer Bars and burner tubes stainless steel. Cast iron stores more heat than thin sheet metal and releases it more evenly; in return it takes a little longer to heat through. The enamel protects the iron from rust as long as it does not chip. How thick the grate bars are is stated nowhere, and that is exactly what decides how much heat a grate can actually store.
The area: 2,761 cm² of main cooking area plus 677 cm² of warming rack, 3,438 cm² in total. These are the figures from the Weber site, not calculated from the outer dimensions. Amazon writes of the warming rack that it keeps food warm, toasts bread rolls or grills smaller items.
Ignition is by Snap-Jet. You press the control knob in and turn it to the Start/High position; this generates the energy for the spark yourself. No battery appears in the manual for the ignition. It mentions a 2-AA battery only for a digital temperature display that appears on selected models and does not show up for the E-410, either on the product page or in the photo. In use, you read the temperature on the lid thermometer. For preheating, Weber specifies: all burners on Start/High, 10 to 15 minutes, until the thermometer shows 260 °C.
Grease runs over an angled, removable drip tray into a collection pan. According to the manual, you scrape residue from the cooking chamber into the grease funnel.
Does the Spirit E-410 fit on a balcony?
The dimensions fit many balconies; permission comes from your landlord or the house rules, not from Weber. With the lid closed, the grill is 132 cm wide, 67.5 cm deep and 117 cm high.
With the lid open, that becomes 154 cm in height and 78.5 cm in depth. According to the manufacturer, the grill weighs 46.5 kg and stands on two wheels. You should only move it when it is cold.
Weber requires the grill to be used only outdoors and in a well-ventilated area. Garages, buildings, covered passageways and tents, among others, are named as unsuitable, as is the area under combustible structures. There is also a minimum distance of 61 cm from combustible materials, measured from the back panel and side panels. Add the distance to the back wall and the grill depth together and you arrive at 128.5 cm before anyone stands in front of it (our calculation, not a manufacturer figure). On a balcony with a ceiling above, it is therefore worth taking a close look at what Weber means by “covered passageways” and “combustible structures”; we read the manual to mean that a covered balcony is, in case of doubt, a matter for asking the manufacturer. More on house rules and gas cylinders on balconies is in the guide Grilling on a balcony.
What else comes into question?
Three models from our catalogue that buyers typically weigh against the E-410. Prices and scores come from the respective reviews.
| Model | The difference | Price | Our score | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weber Spirit E-410 (this one) | 4 burners, 3,438 cm² total area, warming rack | approx. €548 | 8.9 | you grill regularly for larger groups and want individually adjustable zones |
| Weber Spirit E-210 | 2 instead of 4 burners, smaller unit | approx. €389 | 8.9 | your space is limited and you mostly grill for a few people |
| Weber Spirit II E-310 | 3 instead of 4 burners | approx. €459.99 | 9.2 | three burners are enough for you and price matters |
| Napoleon Freestyle 425 | different manufacturer, also 4 burners | approx. €509 (Santos Grills) | 8.8 | the price gap matters more to you than Weber’s warranty terms |
The table is good for a first comparison, not for a purchase decision on its own. The prices are guide values from our price boxes and are not from the same day; the score is our editorial assessment and not a measurement result.
Noteworthy: the E-210 with two burners is only €49 below the E-410 in our figures, the E-310 with three burners is even around €88 below and has the higher score (9.2 against 8.9). The Napoleon is €39 below the E-410. Whether these gaps hold at the time of purchase, you can only see from the current prices. You will find all gas grills at a glance under Gas grills compared.
When this grill, when another
Number of people. Amazon describes the E-410 as suitable for gatherings of 3 to 6 people; this figure comes from the Amazon bullet point, while Weber gives only square centimetres. For two people, the E-210 is the smaller choice and, at our prices, only €49 cheaper, so you mainly save space. If you often cook for six or more, you are better off with the E-410 than with two burners.
Searing steaks. On the Weber site, there is no sear zone and no maximum temperature for the E-410, only the preheating target of 260 °C on the thermometer. If you want a dedicated high-temperature zone, you should look for a model whose manufacturer lists one.
Side burner. A side burner is missing from the equipment list, and the photo shows two shelves. If you want to cook sauces or side dishes on a flame next to the grill, you need a different appliance.
Budget. On top of the grill price come the cylinder (not included), a cover (Weber lists none as included) and a grill brush, which Weber recommends replacing at the start of every season. A cover is not required by the manufacturer; whether you need one depends on how the grill stands outside. It is best to decide against the cheaper Napoleon only after you have read the warranty section below, because price and warranty tiers belong together.
If you want to weigh space, number of people and budget against each other, you can use the Grill Finder.
Gas cylinder, accessories and running costs
A gas cylinder is not included. Weber allows cylinders of at least 3 kg and at most 13 kg fill weight. The lower cabinet takes cylinders up to 13 kg, 587 mm in height and 289 mm in width for a rectangular footprint or 318 mm for a round one. If your cylinder does not fit, you put it behind the grill; forcing it into the cabinet is expressly to be avoided according to the manual, because of the risk of hose damage and with it fire or explosion.
The pressure regulator belongs with the grill, and the hose may be 1.50 m long at most. Which of the four connection types is supplied for Germany stays open; the manual shows all four (screw clockwise or anticlockwise, lever, sleeve). Before buying a cylinder, therefore, check that its connection matches the regulator supplied with your grill.
On consumption there is only one manufacturer figure: 577 g/h of propane at full power. From it we calculate, not Weber, an upper limit: a 5 kg cylinder lasts just under 8.7 hours with all burners at full load, an 11 kg cylinder a good 19 hours. On a medium setting the fill lasts longer; how much longer is a matter of how you use it and is not documented.
For accessories, everything runs through Weber Works. The side rails take snap-on parts that are bought separately, and according to the Weber site they are compatible with Weber Crafted. Which parts exactly fit the E-410 stays open on the manufacturer’s page. You can get spare parts from a local dealer or via weber.com. Important for the warranty: replacement parts for the pressure regulator and gas hose must be original parts.
Safety, cleaning and warranty
Weber deals with gas, grease and heat in many places in the manual; we reproduce the ones most important for a purchase in paraphrase, and you will find the exact wording in the manual.
You check the gas cylinder and connections after every refill and refitting at three points: between regulator and cylinder, between hose and manifold, and between manifold and corrugated line. To do this, you mix 20% liquid soap with 80% water, moisten the connections and open the gas supply. If bubbles form, the spot is leaking. You carry out the check without an open flame. If there is a leak, the grill stays out of use and you contact customer service.
If you smell gas, you cut off the gas supply, put out any flames and open the lid. If the smell remains, you move away from the grill and call the gas supplier or the fire brigade. In a grease fire, you switch off all burners immediately and keep the lid closed until the fire has gone out. Weber also requires heat-resistant grill gloves with contact heat resistance level 2 or higher under DIN EN 407 (a standard that applies in Germany and the EU), and the grill must never be left unattended while preheating or grilling. A grill cover or combustible materials belong neither on the hot grill nor in the storage space below it.
Cleaning: thoroughly at least twice a year, and with continuous use, according to Weber, every quarter is also conceivable. You work the grate with a stainless steel grill brush, and you scrape the Flavorizer Bars with a plastic scraper. In the manual’s own wording: Flavorizer Bars and cooking grates must not be cleaned in the sink, the dishwasher or a self-cleaning oven. You never clean the burners with the grate brush and you do not insert pointed objects into the burner openings. You wash painted and porcelain-enamelled surfaces and plastic parts with warm soapy water. Paint-like flakes in the lid are carbonised grease, non-toxic, but they can fall onto the food.
At the burner, you recognise a blockage by a gas smell together with weak, yellow flames. According to the manual, flames with a yellow tip that turn through light blue into dark blue are normal. Weber fits stainless steel mesh to the burners’ air openings against spiders and insects; they should be kept clean.
The warranty has tiers. Weber voluntarily gives 10 years, but only on rust-through or burn-through of the cooking chamber, lid and the stainless steel burner tubes; paint adhesion, fading and discolouration are limited to 2 years. The porcelain-enamelled cast iron grates, stainless steel grates and Flavorizer Bars have 5 years, all other parts 2 years. The warranty applies only to individual private households, not to commercial or municipal use and not to multi-occupancy buildings. The statutory warranty rights in the EU (2 years) remain unaffected. The Amazon warranty field with the entry “10.” does not replace this tiering.
What Weber does not state
On these points we find no information either on the manufacturer’s page or in the manual, so we make none: the heat-up time in minutes (Weber gives only 10 to 15 minutes to 260 °C on the thermometer), the maximum grilling temperature, the grate thickness, the number of steaks or sausages the area holds, the run time per gas cylinder, the country of manufacture and how long spare parts remain available. Also missing are the material of the heat reflector, the lid thermometer and the wheels, the number of control knobs as text, an assembly time on the German site and a noise figure. Whether a sear zone or side burner is fitted to this model, the manual answers only with “on selected models”; the product page names neither. Weber also names no matching parts for the E-410 for a pizza stone, plancha or cover. Statements such as “heats up in a few minutes”, “no cold spots” or “lights almost without delay”, which were in the earlier version of this review, we have deleted because there is no evidence for them.
Who is it for?
Not for you if you have natural gas at your terrace. Weber says in its FAQ that grills for the EMEA market cannot be converted to natural gas; the manual forbids any conversion, makes clear that liquefied propane gas is not natural gas, and voids the warranty on a conversion. Not for you if you want to grill with charcoal: the grill is expressly not suitable for charcoal, briquettes or lava stones. And not for a built-in outdoor kitchen, because Weber prohibits installation in a built-in or slide-in structure.
For everyone else looking for a four-burner gas grill on wheels, the E-410 is, in our assessment, a reasonable choice, especially if you accept the warranty tiers and know that Weber lists no sear zone. We would check the carton before ordering: according to the manual, the product has a certificate of use only for a specific country, and the marking is on the packaging.
