Which Weber turner is behind this link?
The wide one: Weber item 6762, called “Precision Grillwender - breit” by Weber and “Weber Premium Wender - Breit” on Amazon. Amazon lists the narrow Precision grill turner (6761) under its own ASIN.
That the link points to the 6762 is shown by the model number in the Amazon title, the style selection on the listing page (“Grillwender, breit”) and the product photo. It shows a wide, slotted blade, as do Weber’s pictures of item 6762. Amazon writes “Premium”, Weber “Precision”; the same item is meant. In our catalogue the product is called only “Weber Precision Grillwender”; the “breit” (wide) is missing there, which is why we write “the wide turner” here wherever the difference from the narrow one matters.
We have not handled the turner and have not grilled anything with it. This page is based on Weber’s product page for the 6762, Weber’s pages on range and warranty, the Amazon listing page and the product photo, all retrieved on 14 October 2026. What is said here about using the turner, we derive from the construction and label as such.
Construction: blade, handle, loop
According to Weber, the blade is made of stainless steel, and Weber calls the construction “robust”. The edge is “3-seitig abgeschrägt” (bevelled on 3 sides). In our reading, these are the front edge and both long sides, since on the fourth side the blade merges into the neck. In the photo, this neck widens into rounded shoulders, and in the blade itself follow five narrow slots that are closed at both ends. A continuous strip of metal remains between the slots and the front edge. We know the slots from the product pictures at Weber and Amazon.
The handle is a soft-touch handle “für einen rutschfesten Halt” (for a non-slip grip), says Weber. In the photo it is a black cylinder with a metal sleeve towards the blade. At the other end sits a metal loop, which Weber intends for hanging. Amazon gives the colour as black/silver.
Weber gives the dimensions as 45.5 cm height, 16.5 cm width and 5.8 cm depth and assigns them to no component. How large the blade itself is is not stated in any source, and calculations from the outer dimensions would be guesswork. The Amazon title with “(45cm)” fits the length of the whole turner. The bullet point “Extra breite Wenderfläche (45 cm)” (extra wide turning surface, 45 cm) apparently also means this overall length and not the blade. As a rule of thumb, the guide Grill accessories essentials gives at least 35 cm overall length for a turner; the Weber is above that.
In detail: edge and slots
A turner has to get between the food and the grate without tearing off the crust. The flatter the edge tapers, the less resistance it meets at the point where the food sticks to the grate, and that is what the bevel aims at. Weber describes the edge as sliding under the food from any angle; that is the manufacturer’s description. What does follow from the shape is that the blade can also be applied from the side, for example when a neighbouring piece blocks the way from the front, because not only the front edge is bevelled.
For the Flexible Plancha turner 6780, Weber writes that the slotted design ensures food does not stick. This reasoning appears at Weber for that item, and we do not transfer it to the 6762. Something else follows from the shape: fat and marinade can drain through the slots instead of ending up on the plate with the food. In return, delicate food rests only on the bars between the slots, and in the photo these are clearly wider than the slots themselves.
Our assessment: A bevelled edge does not release what sticks to the grate because it was too cold or dirty. Causes and remedies are covered in the guide Food sticking to the grate.
Is the wide turner enough for delicate fish?
Weber itself describes the turner for “delicate fish” and fragile food. Our assessment: for fillets that fall apart into flakes when lifted, a more flexible blade is safer, and Weber describes the 6780 for delicate foods.
Weber does not describe how flexible the blade of the 6762 is, and a limit for fish that falls apart is also missing. The descriptions set different emphases: the 6762 is described as “robuste Edelstahlkonstruktion” (robust stainless steel construction), the 6780 is called “flexibel” (flexible), and both blades have slots, the 6762 according to the photo, the 6780 according to Weber.
Amazon words it more narrowly. The bullet point speaks of large food such as steaks or fish, and the catalogue lists the item as “Premium Fischwender” (fish turner), while Weber calls it a grill turner and lists fish next to meat.
Burger patties and vegetables appear in neither of the two manufacturer sources; both rather mention large pieces. In our assessment, a flat patty still suits a flat blade with a bevelled edge. How to turn it on the grate is covered in the guide Grilling burgers, and for fish there is the guide Grilling fish without sticking.
Heat, handle and care
Weber gives no temperature limit for the blade or handle. Amazon’s bullet point on the stainless steel reads “langlebig, rostfrei und hitzebeständig” (durable, rustproof and heat resistant), and according to Amazon the handle gives a secure grip “auch bei hohen Temperaturen” (even at high temperatures); these are the retailer’s wordings.
The handle of the 6762 is soft-touch. On tools, such surfaces are usually made of plastic or rubber and tolerate less heat than metal. We would therefore not lay the turner on the hot grate, but hang it from the loop.
As a care note, Weber lists “Spülmaschinenfest” (dishwasher safe). Next to it is the note “für Lebensmittelkontakt” (for food contact); the product page contains no further safety or warning texts.
What else is worth considering?
Our catalogue has only this one single turner. The table therefore places two sets and a pair of tongs beside it, which complement or replace the turner. More tools are in the category Grill accessories.
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weber Precision grill turner, wide (6762) (this one) | Single turner, 45.5 cm long, five slots in the blade according to the photo | approx. €30 | 8.6 | you want a wide blade for large pieces and already have tongs and a brush |
| Weber Precision grill tool set 3-piece | Tongs, turner and brush in one set (Weber 6764), width of the set turner unclear | approx. €39 | 8.7 | you want to buy tongs and a brush at the same time and blade width is secondary |
| Rösle Premium grill tongs 44 cm | Tongs instead of a turner: grips from two sides, 44 cm, 18/10 stainless steel according to Rösle | approx. €30 | 8.8 | your food consists of pieces you can grip and turn, and you do not need to get under anything flat |
| Burnhard grill tool set acacia wood 4-piece | Four pieces (tongs, turner, fork, brush) with acacia wood handles, 42 cm long each | approx. €31 | 8.3 | you are looking for a whole set with a fork and a brush and like wooden handles |
The prices are rounded guide values from the respective reviews and change. The rating is our editorial assessment, not a measurement result. Whether a turner or tongs suit your food better is not answered by the table.
In its category of grill tools, Weber itself lists 35 items (retrieved 14 October 2026), including sets, tongs, presses and plancha accessories, and four further single turners in the German shop. The grill turner 6318 is 40.5 cm high and 9.2 cm wide, the narrow Precision grill turner 6761 measures 45.5 cm and 11 cm, the Plancha turner 6779 41.5 cm and 10 cm, the Flexible Plancha turner 6780 39.5 cm and 9.7 cm. These are in each case Weber’s figures for height and width, as for the 6762. Among these five, the wide turner is the widest. Like the wide one, the 6761 has a soft-touch handle; according to Weber, the 6780 has a slotted design and a bevelled edge for delicate foods.
Price: Amazon, Weber shop and our price box
On Amazon, the turner cost approx. €30 on 14 October 2026. The Amazon price varies by offer and seller; what counts is what is shown on Amazon at the time of purchase.
In the Weber shop, the wide turner cost €25.49 on the same day, reduced from €29.99, including VAT and plus shipping. The other single turners there: the grill turner 6318 for €11.99, the narrow 6761 for €27.99, the Plancha turner 6779 for €24.99 (on the retrieval date only with the button “Informiere mich”, notify me) and the Flexible Plancha turner 6780 for €21.24, reduced from €24.99. At the original price, the wide turner is €2 above the narrow one, and with the reduction on the retrieval date it is below it.
The same guide puts a turner at roughly €8 to €20, as a market value for solid goods and open at the top. All the stated prices of the wide turner are above that.
What the manufacturer does not state
The weight is given neither by Weber nor by Amazon. The steel grade is also missing; Weber writes only “Edelstahl” (stainless steel). For context: for cutlery and tools, 18/10 (18 per cent chromium, 10 per cent nickel) and 18/0 (18 per cent chromium without nickel) are common, and 18/10 is considered more corrosion resistant. Rösle states 18/10 for its tongs; Weber gives only the generic term for the turner. Also open are the sheet thickness, the load capacity (a maximum weight of food) and the handle material, as well as what the dishwasher does to the soft-touch surface over many cycles; there is no guidance on programme, basket or temperature.
We did not find an instruction manual for the turner. Weber’s manuals page lists grills and individual accessories such as the pizza stone or chimney starter, but not a turner. Whether the turner scratches coated grates, planchas or pans is stated nowhere, nor are its country of origin or manufacture, spare parts or the year Weber introduced it. Weber gives the address of Weber-Stephen Deutschland GmbH in Ingelheim, and nothing more on origin.
When this turner suits and when it does not
Start with your food. Everything flat that can only be gripped from below fits the uses Weber names. For sausages and chops we would prefer tongs; the Rösle in the table is the comparison for that.
Then the surface matters. As a general rule for non-stick coatings, metal tools can scratch them. On coated pans or planchas we would therefore prefer wood or silicone.
If you mostly work over strong embers, for example on a charcoal or kamado grill, you are, in our assessment, on the safer side with a metal or wooden handle.
Where money is concerned, it depends on what you already have. If you need only the turner and large pieces are your everyday food, the wide one is the obvious single purchase. If you want to trade blade width for money, Weber has the 6318, which is much cheaper, and the narrow Precision, which is 5.5 cm narrower. If you are also missing tongs and a brush, the set is worth a look: in our price boxes it is approx. €12 above the single turner and brings two more tools with it.
The wrong choice is the wide turner for anyone who mostly turns very delicate fillets. With a flexible blade such as the 6780, they are better served in our assessment.
