Rösle Premium Barbecue grill tongs, item 250243
Rösle calls them the Premium Barbecue grill tongs, item number 250243. The older number 25243 appears in the Amazon catalogue as a model and part number. The ASIN B07XZ45C9Z is matched only through this number, the matching title and the length of 44.2 cm in the Amazon listing. We consider it correct. The EAN is 4004293252432.
On Amazon the tongs cost approx. €30 on 6 October 2026. Rösle describes them as a tool for turning food; Amazon names gas and charcoal grills as well as cooking and serving as areas of use. In our grill accessories category, besides these there are utensil sets but no second single pair of tongs; that is why we compare them with sets below.
Rösle is based in Marktoberdorf and describes its culinary tools as “from the Allgäu”. The product page does not say in which country these tongs are made.
Our basis is the Rösle pages of 6 October 2026 (product page with description and data sheet, Rösle’s text on grill utensils, guarantee terms from June 2026), the Amazon catalogue as retrieved on 5 October and the product photo. We have not handled the tongs or grilled anything with them. Anything we read only from the photo, we mark as such.
Dimensions and weight: 44 cm, and where the 47 cm might come from
Rösle’s data sheet gives 44 cm length, 6 cm width, 3.5 cm height and 0.34 kg. Amazon states 44.2 cm, 6 cm, 3 cm and 0.661 pounds, converted 0.30 kg. Handle length and handle diameter are given only by Amazon: 30 cm and 20 mm. We follow Rösle and point out the deviations: 0.2 cm in length, 0.5 cm in height, 40 g in weight.
The 47 cm appears in Rösle’s text on grill utensils, there as the overall length of the Premium, while the product page says 44 cm. 47 cm corresponds to the packaging length of 470 mm in the data sheet (packaging 470 x 75 x 35 mm), and Amazon’s catalogue dimensions (18.5 x 2.95 x 1.38 inches, i.e. 47.0 x 7.5 x 3.5 cm) are exactly these packaging dimensions. We suspect that Rösle’s 47 cm also refers to the packaging.
18/10 stainless steel, two different heads, one lock
The data sheet gives the material as 18/10 stainless steel, and Amazon describes it as matt. The numbers are the proportions of the two alloying elements the steel is named after: 18 per cent chromium, 10 per cent nickel. Rösle says this makes the steel particularly corrosion resistant, and that it does not rust or discolour. Chromium forms a thin protective layer on the surface, and nickel stabilises the structure of the alloy.
The two tong heads are different. The lower one has fat drainage slots, four in the product photo, across the longitudinal axis. The upper one has no slots in the photo and, according to Rösle, can also scoop smaller side items. We interpret the split like this: slots let liquid drain away, but also anything narrower than they are, which is why the head without slots scoops the small side items. Rösle calls the turning surface large and recommends it for turning meat, fish and vegetables; Amazon writes of an extra large one. In the photo, both heads have smooth edges, without teeth and without ribbing.
According to Rösle, an automatic lock lets you open and close the tongs with one hand; locked, they take up less space. Amazon speaks of a patented locking system; on Rösle’s page for the Premium tongs the word patented does not appear, but it does for the 30 cm and 40 cm tongs. If your other hand is already holding a plate or a turner, you do not have to put the tongs down to lock them; we infer this from the design.
In detail: length, leverage and heat
Rösle recommends a length of at least 35 cm for tongs and turners that are used frequently. The reason according to Rösle: you then do not work too close to the fire, and the handle does not get hot as quickly. The 35 cm is Rösle’s own recommendation. At 44 cm, the Premium is 9 cm above it.
Heat reaches your hand in three ways. The radiation from embers or burner decreases with distance, and length helps against that. Hot air rises above the grate and flows past your hand as soon as you reach over the food. The third way is heat conduction through the metal: stainless steel conducts less well than aluminium or copper, but it does conduct, and in the product photo the handles are made of bare metal, without rubber coating or covering. Rösle states no maximum temperature for the tongs or the handle. If you put the tongs down with the heads on the hot grate, heat travels into the handle, and how quickly depends, among other things, on the thickness of the material.
Then there is the mechanics. In the photo, the two arms meet at the end of the handle, the heads sit at the other end, and your hand grips in between. With this design, less force arrives at the heads than your hand applies, and the less so the closer to the rear end you grip. If your hand moves forward, the heads grip more firmly, but your hand gets closer to the heat. That is how the law of levers describes it. If Amazon’s handle length of 30 cm means the gripping area, there is plenty of room for hand position there.
Is 44 cm too long for a small grill?
Our assessment: for portable and other small grills, rather yes; the tongs are longer than necessary there. Rösle itself recommends the 30 cm tongs for the portable VIDERO E2-P and G2-P models and the curved one with 35.5 cm for smaller grills in general.
The data sheet gives the 30 cm tongs as 32 cm long and 0.22 kg, and the curved one as 35.5 cm and 0.215 kg; according to Rösle, its wavy ends hold the food securely. Both cost €24.95 in the Rösle shop, exactly €10 less than the Premium at €34.95 (as of 6 October 2026), and according to the data sheet both weigh around 120 grams less than the Premium at 0.34 kg. For comparison: according to the Amazon title, the Burnhard tongs are 42 cm long, only 2 cm shorter than the Premium, so length alone hardly separates the two.
From which grate depth 44 cm makes sense can only be settled on your own grill: measure how far the most distant food lies from the edge of the grate where you stand, and add the distance your hand should keep from the grate. The result is a minimum value, because some of the tongs still extends behind your hand. If it is clearly below 44 cm, one of the shorter Rösle tongs suits your grill better.

Prices are guide values from our individual reviews, not daily prices. The rating is our editorial assessment, and the 0.1 points between the tongs and the Rösle set are no reason to buy.
Cleaning, guarantee and where to buy
For cleaning, the data sheet of the single tongs gives dishwasher suitability as yes. As a general rule for stainless steel: salt residues and flash rust from other steel can leave stains there too.
Rösle’s grill guarantee applies to grills, not to accessories. The guarantee terms (as of 06/2026) state: “No claim arises under this manufacturer’s guarantee for accessories, bundle components and free extras.”
In the Rösle shop, the tongs cost €34.95 including VAT plus shipping on 6 October 2026, €1.95 more than the guide value in our price box. Rösle gave the delivery time that day as 3 to 5 working days; shipping costs are waived for orders from €40. The BBQ Premium set, 3 pieces, costs €79.95 in the Rösle shop (as of early October 2026); anyone ordering there pays €45 more for the set than for the single tongs, instead of the €13 according to our price boxes.
What Rösle does not state about these tongs
On the Rösle pages we reviewed and in the Amazon catalogue, the following information is missing:
- instructions as well as care or safety notes for the tongs
- the thickness of the steel in millimetres and the closing force of the tongs
- dimensions and curvature of the turning surface as well as the width of the fat drainage slots
- a patent number and how the lock works
- a load rating for the eyelet at the end of the handle and a list of suitable hooks
- whether Rösle’s 0.34 kg applies with or without packaging
- the meaning of Amazon’s “usable length 11.5 cm”
- a test mark or a standard for food contact
- the year of market launch; the old number 25243 does not give one
- spare parts: Rösle speaks of replaceable wearing parts for grills and for the swivel peeler, not for tongs
Who they suit: when single tongs, when a set or shorter tongs?
The starting point is the question of what you are missing besides the tongs. The Weber Precision grill utensils cost €8.99 more than the Rösle tongs in our price box and include a turner and a silicone brush besides their tongs. The Burnhard grill utensils acacia wood cost approx. €34.90 at Burnhard, so €5 more, and come with a turner, meat fork and grill brush.
Converting the price per piece, one piece in the Weber set costs just under €13 (€38.89 divided by three), in the Burnhard set around €8.70 (€34.90 divided by four) and for the single tongs €29.90. The calculation sets piece counts side by side; we know the tongs in the sets only from the catalogue information. If you need a turner or a fork anyway, a set gets you more tools for little more money. If you have everything else, with the single tongs you pay only for the one piece that is missing. Which pieces beyond the tongs belong in a basic kit is covered in our guide Grill accessories essentials.
When it comes to the handle, the offers differ. Weber describes its handles in the Amazon listing as soft-touch and non-slip; according to the photo, the Premium has bare metal. Burnhard relies on acacia wood and calls the handles heat resistant there. Rösle itself leaves wooden handles off its grill utensils because wood wears faster, absorbs odours, moisture and fat, and must not go in the dishwasher. Our assessment: with a metal handle, we would keep a distance from the heat and put a glove within reach.
The Premium is wrong for anyone who expects ribbed or toothed jaws: the edges are smooth in the photo, and the grip, as we read it, comes from the surface. Likewise it does not suit very small, portable grills, for which Rösle itself names shorter tongs. It is right for anyone who only wants to replace this one tool and stands at a grill where 44 cm is not in the way.
