The BBQ-Toro Gas Grill Table is a two-burner gas cooker on four legs, surrounded on three sides by a windshield. The manufacturer does not include a grate. You cook in whatever you put on the burners. On Amazon it costs approx. €85 (Amazon page on 21 October 2026: €84.95).
GAKO3: what lies behind the word grill table
Grill table sounds like a grate over embers. Under the article number GAKO3, BBQ-Toro sells a cooking point at which you work standing up. Two cast iron burners sit in a frame, with a sheet of metal behind and to the left and right as a wind barrier. In the product photo the front is open, and below it on the panel are two control knobs with the red brand logo between them. The manufacturer’s page names woks, Dutch ovens, pots and pans as uses.
In our gas grill category, the device therefore sits at the edge. Almost everything there has a lid, a grate and a grease tray. The GAKO3 has none of these. With the separately available stainless steel plate, it becomes a griddle at standing height; without it, it remains an outdoor cooker.
One discrepancy up front: the product title on bbq-toro.de says 2 kW. The technical data on the same page, the rating plate and Amazon say 12 kW. We consider the 2 in the title a typing error and calculate with 12 kW, especially as the stated gas consumption fits exactly this figure (more on that shortly).
Frame, burners, windshield: the construction
The table is made of powder-coated steel, the windshield of painted steel. With the windshield, the device measures 78 cm wide, 45 cm deep and 110 cm high. Without the windshield it is 80 cm; according to the dimension drawing, this is the top edge of the burner frame, i.e. the height at which pot and pan stand. The sheet metal therefore projects 30 cm above the cooking level. BBQ-Toro gives the work surface as 77 x 39 cm and the weight as 19.5 kg.
Both burners are cast iron and each has a diameter of 27 cm. Together they deliver 12 kW, infinitely adjustable via the two control knobs. Ignition is by piezo, and according to the manufacturer’s page there is also a flame failure device. According to the rating plate, the gas nozzles are 1.05 mm wide.
According to the manufacturer’s page, the box contains: one frame, four table legs, the windshield, two gas burners with piezo ignition, a hose and a pressure regulator. You have to get the gas bottle yourself.
In detail: how 12 kW and 873 g/h relate to each other
Two figures on the product page can be checked against each other. Liquefied gas has a fixed energy content per kilogram; the calorific value of butane is around 13.75 kWh/kg. If 12 kW run for an hour, that is 12 kWh. Divided by 13.75, this gives 0.873 kg, exactly the 873 g/h that BBQ-Toro states as maximum consumption. From this we read two things: the 873 g/h applies to both burners together at full flame, and the 12 kW is the sum, not the output of a single burner. Both are our own derivation from the figures.
What does so much output bring? Above all, reserve. A large pot of water or a cast iron Dutch oven absorbs a lot of heat before it gets hot, and a wok demands high heat on a small area. How quickly water boils on this burner cannot be read from it, however. That depends on the pot, the quantity and the wind.
The windshield, too, is pure physics. An open gas flame transfers only part of its heat to the base of the pot; side wind pushes it away, and then it heats air instead of the pot. Sheet metal on three sides keeps the side wind off. The table stays open at the front, because that is where you stand. The flame failure device is related to this topic: such a device generally shuts off the gas supply as soon as the flame goes out, for example because of a gust. Without it, unburnt gas would keep flowing.
A simple calculation helps with pot diameter. The work surface is 77 cm wide and 39 cm deep. Two pots side by side may therefore, in theory, each have a diameter of at most about 38 cm, and the depth of 39 cm sets the same limit. A pot that is much smaller than the 27 cm burner lets the flame pass by at the sides; then the handles get hot and part of the heat is lost. On this table we would therefore use large pots and pans rather than a small milk pan.
How long does a gas bottle last on the grill table?
By our calculation, a 5 kg bottle lasts just under six hours with both burners at full flame, and an 11 kg bottle a good twelve and a half hours. With a small flame or only one burner, it lasts correspondingly longer.
The basis is the 873 g/h from the manufacturer’s information: 5,000 g divided by 873 g gives 5.7 hours, 11,000 g divided by 873 g gives 12.6 hours. Full load on both burners is, however, the special case. A braise in the Dutch oven runs on a low setting most of the time, a wok briefly on full.
According to the manufacturer’s page, propane-butane bottles of 5 or 11 kg are suitable. The operating pressure is 50 mbar, which is the usual value for grills and cookers of this type in Germany. Which bottle size suits which cooking habits and what to bear in mind when swapping are compiled in our guide Gas bottle for the grill.
Griddle plate and set: when you do want to grill
If you want to fry sausages, vegetables or smash burgers on the table, you need a plate. For this, BBQ-Toro sells the GPG2 stainless steel griddle plate individually and the grill table also as a set with the plate, article number GAKO3_Set. In the manufacturer’s shop the plate costs €89.95 and the set €139.95, the table alone €84.95; if you want both, you therefore pay €34.95 less there with the set than for table and plate separately (as of 21 October 2026). For you, that means: if you already know you want to grill, the set is the cheaper option.
Without the plate, what counts is what fits in the pot. BBQ-Toro writes that there is room on the surface for, for example, two large Dutch ovens, woks or grill pans. For the Dutch oven in particular, a gas cooker is a convenient alternative to embers, because the heat can be controlled with a knob rather than by the number of briquettes. How to build up braised dishes in a cast iron pot is explained in our Dutch oven guide.
What else comes into question?
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BBQ-Toro Gas Grill Table with Windshield (this one) | 2 cast burners on an 80 cm high frame, no grate | approx. €85 | 7.9 | you want to cook standing up in pots, woks and Dutch ovens |
| CADAC 2-Cook 3 Classic Stove | Two-burner cooker for a table, no frame of its own | approx. €79 | 7.9 | you are often on the road by car and have a table on site |
| BBQ-Toro Stainless Steel Gastro Roaster 3-Burner | Grill grate, flame tamer and grease tray included | approx. €200 | 8.0 | you mainly want to grill directly on the grate |
| Broil King Regal 590 | Lidded grill with cast iron grates and rear burner | approx. €1,649 | 9.4 | you are looking for a main garden grill with an indirect zone |
The prices are guide values from our price boxes and change constantly in retail. The rating is our editorial assessment from the data comparison; we have not cooked or grilled on any of these devices.
When the GAKO3 fits and when another one does
The first question is the pot. If you cook outdoors in a wok, pot and Dutch oven, the grill table is built for exactly that. If you want steaks on skewers, it is the wrong device without accessories. In that case we would rather reach for the BBQ-Toro gastro roaster, which at approx. €200 according to the price box (the grill table: approx. €85) is more expensive but brings the grate with it.
Second, the lid. There is none. Indirect cooking, in which hot air under a hood reaches a thick cut from all sides, is not possible on this table, even with the plate. If you are looking for a main grill for roasts and pulled pork, you end up with a lidded grill like the Broil King Regal 590, albeit in a completely different price class.
Third, transport. You can carry 19.5 kg alone for a few metres, but not across a campsite. The table suits camping with the car in front of the pitch and the terrace at home. If you need a cooker that fits in a bag and stands on the camping table, the CADAC 2-Cook 3 at approx. €79 according to the price box is the alternative (the grill table: approx. €85). What else to weigh up with a camping grill is in our camping grill buying guide.
Fourth, the balcony. BBQ-Toro says nothing at all about it. Whether gas is allowed on your balcony is governed by your tenancy agreement and house rules, and with a total height of 110 cm and an open flame, the clearance above also matters. What is usually regulated here is written up in our guide Grilling on a balcony.
On budget: on top of the approx. €85 for the table comes the gas bottle with its filling, and if you want to grill, the plate. What price you should expect for bottle and gas depends on the retailer and the deposit.
Safety and cleaning according to the manufacturer’s page
No operating manual as a PDF is linked on bbq-toro.de. The safety notes therefore come entirely from the product safety section of the product page. These points are listed there:
- The gas grill table is intended exclusively for grilling and heating food outdoors.
- It is not suitable for use in enclosed or poorly ventilated areas; there is a risk of suffocation and carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Before each use, check the safe and functional condition, in particular gas connections, hose, pressure regulator, burners, ignition, controls, stability and locking mechanisms.
- The connection to the gas bottle may only be made according to the assembly instructions and with suitable, approved components.
- Watch for the smell of gas before lighting and during operation; if you smell gas, close the gas supply immediately, avoid open fire and do not continue to use the device.
- Operate the grill table only on a level, stable and fireproof surface and keep sufficient distance from flammable materials.
- During operation the housing, cooking surface and controls become very hot; there is a risk of burns.
- Touch hot surfaces only with heat-resistant gloves and suitable grill tools.
- Never operate the grill unattended and close the gas supply completely after use.
- Let the device cool down completely before cleaning, transport or covering.
- Do not use flammable liquids or unsuitable firelighters.
- Children must not operate the grill table and may only be near it under supervision.
- If there is damage, leaks, deformation or malfunction, do not continue to use the device and have it checked.
How to check the gas connections for leaks is not stated on the page. In general, for gas appliances: spray the connections with leak detection spray or soapy water, open the bottle valve and watch for bubbles, never use a flame.
For cleaning, BBQ-Toro writes: let it cool after use, wash with warm water and a mild detergent, then dry.
We found the following information neither on the product page nor in the BBQ-Toro FAQ and terms and conditions: minimum distances to flammable materials in centimetres, a statement on balcony use, the length of the hose and the type of pressure regulator, the output per burner, maximum temperature and heat-up time, assembly time and tools required, a cover or carry bag, whether the legs fold or can be removed for transport, how a round-bottom wok sits on the burner, care instructions for the cast iron burners including rust protection, and the market launch of the model.
Who is it suitable for?
BBQ-Toro sees the table for camping and at home, in the garden or in the open countryside. In our assessment, it suits people who cook outdoors for many diners in large pots: paella, stew, goulash in the Dutch oven, vegetables and noodles in the wok. For that, two 27 cm burners at a height of 80 cm are a good choice, and your back stays straight.
It is the wrong choice for two groups. If you want to grill classically on a grate and do not want to spend money on the plate, you are better off with the gastro roaster or another grate grill. And if you are looking for a cooking point for an awning, conservatory or garage, you must not operate this table there.
