What is behind the name
On Amazon the appliance is called “Tefal Elektrogrill Easygrill Power 2500 W XXL”, and the catalogue lists BG921812 as the model number. At Tefal itself, BG921812 is simply called EASYGRILL XXL; the “Power” comes from the Amazon title. Tefal uses the name for another, smaller range: on tefal.fr the item 2100121959 is called EASYGRILL POWER PIEDS, and on tefal.de it is the Easygrill stand grill BG90D8 with 2,300 W and an 870 cm² grilling surface for €69.99 (Tefal shop, 20 October 2026). That is a different appliance from the one discussed here.
On 20 October 2026, BG921812 is not listed on tefal.de. In the Grills & Planchas category, Tefal shows only the BG90D8 and the BG9308, a 2-in-1 table grill, from the Easygrill range. Manufacturer information is therefore only available on tefal.fr and tefal.com, on two pages with different texts. Where they contradict each other, we say so each time; we call them the older and the newer page.
Nobody on our team has grilled on the appliance, and we did not have it in our hands. Our sources are Tefal’s product pages, two instruction manuals, the warranty documents, the Amazon catalogue and the product photo. Tefal has belonged to the SEB Group since 1968, and the Amazon catalogue lists Groupe SEB as the manufacturer. In our category Electric and table grills, the XXL scores 8.1 points, which is our editorial assessment. The price in our price box is approx. €145.
Design and technology
The product photo, a catalogue image from Amazon, shows a rectangular body on four long legs. A control dial sits in the middle at the front, and a wire rack as a shelf lies between the legs at half height.
Grilling takes place on a grate that, according to Tefal, is made of 100 per cent stainless steel, justified by better durability. Tefal’s feature list gives 48 × 26 cm, and that works out at exactly the 1,248 cm² grilling surface that Tefal and the Amazon bullet point state. The Amazon bullet point and a benefit text on tefal.fr, however, say 48 × 25 cm, which would be only 1,200 cm². We calculate with 1,248 cm² because only the 26 cm adds up.
The power is 2,500 W at 230 V and 50 to 60 Hz, and the plug is type EUR. The mains cable is 1.60 m long and fixed to the appliance, with no cable compartment. The body and handles are made of thermoplastic.
Control is by a thermostat with five positions. According to Tefal’s feature list, the grill has no on/off switch and no indicator light, and a Thermo-Spot, which the shared instructions show for other models, is also missing. So no light shows whether the heating is running. If the heating coil is not seated correctly, a safety system prevents operation according to the instructions. According to the feature list on the older page, the heating element, drip tray and plates are removable.
On the four feet the grill stands as a stand grill, and without feet as a table appliance; Tefal speaks of two ways of using it. Tefal states the Easygrill XXL and four feet as the scope of delivery, and according to Tefal and Amazon a windshield against splashes is included. Dimensions and weight appear only in the Amazon catalogue: 380 × 570 × 850 mm and 4.7 kg, with no note on whether it was measured with or without feet. The height of 850 mm suggests legs.

In detail: how the water tray limits smoke
Fat smokes when it drips onto a surface that is hotter than its smoke point. On the Easygrill XXL, the water tray changes where the fat lands. In Tefal’s documents the part is called water tray, drip tray or water container, and in the instructions also heat reflector; we say water tray. Tefal explains the effect like this: the water forms a cool zone under the grilling surface, into which the fat falls instead of burning on a hot surface, which reduces smoke and flare-ups.
We add the physics behind it as our own explanation; it is not stated like this by Tefal: liquid water does not get hotter than 100 °C at normal air pressure. This explains why Tefal’s FAQ requires you to keep up the water level over several rounds. Once the water has evaporated, the cool zone is gone and the fat hits something hot again. That is our inference; nobody has measured it.
How much water belongs in it is answered by Tefal twice, differently. The German instructions give a maximum of 1.5 litres in the section on starting up, and the pictogram on the illustration pages shows 1.5 L Max. The FAQ on tefal.com, by contrast, requires you to fill the tray before cooking up to the minimum quantity of 1.5 litres. The number is the same, the direction the opposite. We would stick to the instructions.
Tefal quantifies the amount of smoke only on the newer page: up to two times less smoke. The footnote refers to a laboratory measurement by an external lab from August 2020 with three beef patties of 20 per cent fat, compared with the Tefal grill TG80; the amount of smoke depends on the quality and type of ingredients. The feature list on the newer page also lists the feature smoke-free as yes. We consider smoke-reducing the more accurate description: two times less smoke than another Tefal grill does not mean that none is produced, and the instructions require water in the tray. How much smoke rises at your grilling spot cannot be read from a laboratory measurement with beef patties.
Causes of too much smoke are summarised in our guide Grill smoking too much. According to the instructions, you always preheat for 15 minutes before cooking. According to Tefal’s FAQ, wind can cool the grilling surface and extend the cooking time, one more reason to set the grill up out of the wind.
Can the Easygrill XXL go on the balcony?
According to Tefal’s instructions, the grill belongs exclusively outdoors, so it is not intended for indoor use. The instructions and the feature list contain no balcony approval; the instructions provide solely for outdoor operation. Only an advertising text on Tefal’s older product page mentions the balcony. Whether you may grill there is governed by your lease and house rules.
The wording in the German section: “All grill appliances are suitable for outdoor use only.” According to its own text, the instructions apply to all models of their range, the Barbecues sur pied (stand grills), and are linked on Tefal’s page for BG921812. The feature list gives the outdoor area as the place of use. Tefal’s advertising texts see it differently: the newer page calls the grill ideal for indoors and outdoors and for all year round, while the older one describes it on the table indoors, on the balcony, when camping and in the garden. On a safety question, we go by the instructions and the feature list.
It is connected to an earthed socket. According to the instructions, the circuit should have a residual current device (AC) with a rated residual current of no more than 30 mA, and the power supply must match the current and voltage on the underside of the appliance. An extension cable must have at least the same cross-section and be earthed. Mains and extension cables are to be laid so that guests’ freedom of movement is not restricted and nobody trips.
On the surface: the instructions require a stable, horizontal base, and according to the English version flat, stable and heat-resistant. Not directly on sensitive surfaces such as a glass table, tablecloth or varnished furniture, not on soft surfaces, and not on or near slippery or hot surfaces. To avoid overheating, the grill does not belong in corners or against a wall, and never under easily flammable items such as curtains or drapes. What a lease and house rules can mean for electric grills on the balcony is explained in our guide Grilling on a balcony.
What else comes into question?
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tefal Easygrill Power 2500 W XXL (this one) | One grilling surface with 1,248 cm² and one thermostat, on feet or without | approx. €145 | 8.1 | you want to grill outdoors on a large surface and one heating zone is enough |
| Tefal Easygrill Adjust Red | 870 cm² and 2,300 W instead of 1,248 cm² and 2,500 W | approx. €50 | 8.3 | 870 cm² is enough for you and you want to save around €95 |
| WMF Lono Master Grill | Two separately controllable plates of 1,200 W each, together up to 1,400 cm² | approx. €118 | 9.0 | you need grilling and keeping warm side by side |
| Landmann EG-II-590 | Grill trolley with lid and two heating elements, 100 to 300 °C, 3,200 W | approx. €550 | 9.4 | you want a lid and have a permanent place for a trolley |
The prices are guide values from our price boxes and change; the rating is our editorial assessment and not a measurement result. The information on WMF and Landmann comes from the research for their own pages, and that on the Adjust Red from its previous page, which we have not yet checked against Tefal’s documents. You will find more appliances in the electric grill comparison.
When this grill fits and when another one does
We would recommend the XXL if you have a spot outdoors with an earthed socket, want to grill standing on a large surface and can manage with one heating zone. If one of these conditions is missing, it is worth looking at the alternatives; all three in the table have higher ratings than the XXL in our catalogue.
On the surface: Tefal says only that it is intended for family or friends. In numbers, 1,248 cm² is around 43 per cent more than the 870 cm² of the Adjust Red and a good half of the almost 2,390 cm² of the Landmann EG-II-590 (59 × 40.5 cm). The WMF Lono Master reaches up to 1,400 cm², spread over two plates. The Adjust Red costs around €95 less than the XXL. Our assessment: if you rarely grill for more than a few people, you pay with the XXL for surface that you will hardly cover.
On zones, the XXL has one thermostat for the whole plate. For BG921812, Tefal lists neither separate zones nor a lid, nor a cover in the scope of delivery. If you want to sear meat and keep something warm next to it, look at the WMF Lono Master, which at approx. €118 costs around €27 less. If you want a lid, look at the Landmann EG-II-590, which costs around €405 more.
If your grilling spot lacks an earthed socket with RCD protection within reach of the fixed cable, you need an extension cable with the properties from the balcony section, or another spot. How heavily 2,500 W loads a circuit is calculated in the questions below.
Running costs arise for electricity and water; the grill needs no fuel. At rated power it is at most 2.5 kWh per hour; with the unit price from your electricity contract you get the upper limit in euros.
Cleaning, care and safety according to the instructions
Cleaning only happens once the grill is disconnected from the power supply and cooled down; it is not moved while it is hot. On the dishwasher there are three statements. The instructions require you to clean the grate, grill plate and water tray after every use, depending on the model, and call them dishwasher-safe. Tefal’s FAQ lists as dishwasher-safe the grate or plate and the drip tray. The older product page advertises 100 per cent removable and dishwasher-safe, except for the heating elements. We would stick to the narrower statements. You wipe the body after every use; according to the FAQ, the grate, handle and base can also be wiped with a sponge and washing-up liquid. The appliance, control unit and mains cable must not be immersed in water.
The heating coil must not be cleaned. If it is very dirty, you let it cool down completely and rub it with a dry cloth. No metal scouring pads, no abrasives. The hot plate never belongs in water or on a sensitive surface. You use the plate and grate only on the appliance they were made for, not in the oven, on the gas hob or on the electric hotplate, otherwise damage threatens. They must lie stably and correctly on the appliance base. Only the supplied grate or plate, or one bought from an approved service centre, may be used.
Accessible surfaces can reach high temperatures during operation. The instructions say not to touch the hot surfaces and always to use the handles; the metal parts become extremely hot while the appliance is in operation or heated up. In the event of a burn, you immediately run cold water over the area and call a doctor if necessary. If parts of the appliance catch fire, do not extinguish with water: pull the mains plug and smother the flames with a damp cloth. The grill must not be operated with charcoal or similar fuels, and never unattended.
You check the mains cable regularly for damage. If it is damaged, the grill must not be used, and it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service or a similarly qualified person. The same applies if the appliance does not work properly, has been dropped or has visible damage. According to the instructions, any intervention other than the cleaning and maintenance usual in a household belongs with an authorised service partner.
The instructions also prohibit storing the grill in direct sun, leaving it outdoors in winter and leaving it standing outside after use. Our reading: it may grill outdoors, is put away cooled down afterwards and spends the winter indoors. General information on the winter break is in the guide Winterising your grill. According to the feature list, vertical storage is not intended.
Spare parts, repair and warranty
The model is missing on tefal.de; on 20 October 2026 the accessories page on tefal.fr showed, for BG921812, the feet (lower and upper part, four pieces) TS-01029370 for €16.99, in stock. Tefal lists the replacement grate SS-2100123082 for BG921812 and BG920812; it carries the note definitively sold out, and the drip tray TS-01029320 is also marked as sold out. Another drip tray, TS-01029600 for €10.99, is according to the page designed for 43 products. BG921812 does not appear in the visible rows of its compatibility table, so the fit is not proven. For a buyer this means: if the grate breaks, according to this page no replacement is available from Tefal any more. Prices and offer apply to the French shop.
On the newer page, Tefal advertises 15 years of repairability through a network of 6,200 repair points worldwide. The repair flat rate for barbecue and plancha is €39.99 on tefal.fr (parts and labour, with a six-month warranty extension), and €62.99 with transport.
On the warranty, tefal.de says: in Germany the warranty period for the entire product range is two years, valid for domestic and private use; for all other areas of application a one-year period applies (commercial purposes). According to the warranty text for electrical household appliances, not covered are, among others, damage from misuse, negligence, failure to follow the instruction manual, wrong voltage or frequency, modification or unauthorised repair, normal wear, lack of maintenance, unsuitable liquids or accessories, accidents such as fire or water, mechanical damage, the ingress of water, dust or insects, and commercial use. For a grill outdoors, the water point is the one you should keep an eye on. The Tefal warranty does not restrict statutory consumer rights, including against the retailer. Whether the general text is expressly applied to this grill is not stated there.
Who is it suitable for?
According to the instructions, the grill is intended for private households only. If it is used in staff kitchens of shops, offices and other commercial areas, on farms, by guests in hotels, motels and other residential facilities or in bed and breakfasts, the warranty lapses. Anyone who wants to provide the grill in a guesthouse or for guests of an accommodation is therefore badly advised with it, as is the office staff kitchen. Whether a rented holiday flat is meant is left open by the instructions; we would count it among the other residential facilities.
Children from 8 years and people with reduced abilities may operate it only with supervision or instruction on safe use, if they understand the risks; the appliance and mains cable belong out of reach of children under 8 years. Children do not carry out cleaning and maintenance unsupervised. And the instructions name one more group: cooking fumes can be dangerous for animals with a particularly sensitive respiratory system such as birds, and bird keepers are advised to keep the animals away from the cooking area.
