In short: First place in our editorial ranking of grill thermometers goes to the MEATER 2 Plus (9.5/10). Below it are the 7 highest-rated grill thermometers from our individual reviews that were in stock on 21 October 2026.
This page compares seven grill thermometers in our editorial ranking: three wireless models from MEATER, the ThermoPro TempSpike Twin, the wired ThermoPro TP25, the built-in Weber iGrill 3 and the ThermoPro TP19H hand-held thermometer. We have not handled any of these devices. The basis is manufacturer information, instructions and product pages, which we evaluated in the individual reviews. The buying guide helps you choose: how many pieces do you want to measure, wireless or wired, how hot does it get at the probe, and how do you want to read the values?
The recommendations at a glance
- MEATER 2 Plus (9.5/10): The MEATER 2 Plus, now sold as the MEATER Pro, is a wireless probe with five core sensors and one ambient sensor; the values go to your smartphone via Bluetooth through a bamboo charging station.
- MEATER Block (9.1/10): The MEATER Block is a set of four wireless, numbered probes and a bamboo charging station with Wi-Fi and its own display, which lets you cook without a smartphone too.
- MEATER Plus (8.9/10): The MEATER Plus is a wireless probe with one sensor each for core and ambient temperature; the values go to your smartphone via Bluetooth through a wooden charging station.

MEATER 2 Plus: 5 core sensors, ambient up to 550 °C, 1 probe
The MEATER 2 Plus, now sold as the MEATER Pro, is a wireless probe with five core sensors and one ambient sensor; the values go to your smartphone via Bluetooth through a bamboo charging station. In our comparison it has the highest rating of the grill thermometers, 9.5 out of 10.
Our assessment: The MEATER 2 Plus suits you if you want to monitor one piece of meat without a cable and also measure in a deep fryer, in a water bath or over direct heat: the probe is waterproof. If you cook several pieces at once, want to measure without a smartphone or mostly grill indirectly, you will find more suitable devices in our comparison table.
Strengths according to our review:
- No cable through the lid: probe and charging station work without a lead to the grill
- Ambient sensor up to 550 °C according to the manufacturer, direct cooking, deep frying and open fire approved
- Five core sensors, the app shows the lowest of the five values as the core temperature
Weaknesses according to our review:
- One probe per set; individual replacement probes are not available in the web shop, only through support
- The probe only transmits up to 10 m to the charging station, which therefore has to stand close to the grill but, according to the instructions, must not sit on or near hot surfaces
Editorial rating 9.5/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the MEATER 2 Plus.
MEATER Block: 4 probes, Wi-Fi station with display, ambient up to 275 °C
The MEATER Block is a set of four wireless, numbered probes and a bamboo charging station with Wi-Fi and its own display, which lets you cook without a smartphone too. The probes belong to MEATER’s Alpha Collection, like the MEATER Plus, but only work with this station. Our price box lists approx. €229 at Amazon.
Our assessment: The Block is worthwhile from two pieces at once, if you only cook indirectly up to 275 °C and your router transmits on the 2.4 GHz band. For a single piece, the MEATER Plus with the same probe type is enough, by our guide values at around a third of the price; higher heat at the probe is only tolerated by Pro probes such as the one on the MEATER 2 Plus.
Strengths according to our review:
- Four numbered probes on one station, the number also appears in the app
- Station with its own Wi-Fi: remote access via MEATER Cloud without a second smart device as a bridge
- Standalone mode: cooking without a smartphone via the display and touch panel of the station
Weaknesses according to our review:
- Probe only for indirect heat up to 275 °C ambient temperature according to MEATER, it has to come out before searing
- In a kettle grill and in a smoker, the probe only transmits up to 3 m to the station according to MEATER, and the station must not get warmer than 60 °C
Editorial rating 9.1/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the MEATER Block.
MEATER Plus: 1 core sensor ±0.5 °C, ambient up to 275 °C, up to 50 m wireless
The MEATER Plus is a wireless probe with one sensor each for core and ambient temperature; the values go to your smartphone via Bluetooth through a wooden charging station. According to MEATER, the ceramic end is rated up to 275 °C and intended only for indirect heat. Our price box lists approx. €74.90 at Amazon.
Our assessment: The MEATER Plus suits you if you want to monitor one piece of meat without a cable and cook indirectly, for example in a smoker or in the oven. If your cooking chamber regularly exceeds 275 °C or you measure two pieces at once, the Plus is the wrong set.
Strengths according to our review:
- No cable through the lid: the probe transmits to the charging station, which passes the signal on to the smartphone
- Core sensor accurate to ±0.5 °C according to MEATER support, calibrated at the factory
- Charging station runs on a single AAA battery, good for about 100 charges according to support
Weaknesses according to our review:
- Only for indirect heat according to MEATER: no searing with the probe inserted, no open flame, no submerging
- One probe per set with a single core sensor, about 2 cm behind the tip
Editorial rating 8.9/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the MEATER Plus.
ThermoPro TempSpike Twin (TP962): IP67, Bluetooth 5.2, up to 150 m
The Twin TempSpike TP962 has two wireless probes and a booster with an illuminated display, while the TP960 has only one probe. TempPro states ±1.0 °C at the core, and the probe tolerates up to 300 °C ambient. At Amazon it was at approx. €63 on 5 October 2026.
Our assessment: The Twin TempSpike TP962 suits you if you cook two pieces at once indirectly and can place the booster right next to the grill. If you need three or more measuring points or want the probe to stay in the meat during a hot initial sear, take a different thermometer.
Strengths according to our review:
- Two wireless probes, each with one sensor for the core and one for the ambient
- Illuminated display on the booster shows both probes even without a smartphone
- Upper and lower limits for the cooking chamber temperature per probe in the app
Weaknesses according to our review:
- Ambient at the probe only up to 300 °C: no searing over the embers with the probe inserted
- Core accurate to ±1.0 °C according to the manufacturer, TempPro’s TP971, TP972 and TP980 to ±0.1 °C
Editorial rating 8.9/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the ThermoPro TempSpike Twin (TP962).
Weber iGrill 3: up to 4 probes, 250 h battery life
The Weber iGrill 3 is a Bluetooth thermometer for permanent installation in the Genesis II, Genesis II LX and Spirit II with an iGrill 3 plate: up to 4 probes, 250 hours of battery life according to Weber, display only in the app. The Amazon bundle with an ambient probe costs approx. €114.88 (as of 5 October 2026). For all other grills, a freestanding device such as the Inkbird IBT-4XS fits.
Our assessment: The Weber iGrill 3 is worthwhile for owners of a Spirit II, Genesis II or Genesis II LX with a mounting plate who want up to four probes permanently on the grill and accept a smartphone as the display. If you own a different Weber or another brand, need a display on the device or want more wireless range, you are better served by a freestanding thermometer.
Strengths according to our review:
- Permanently mounted in the side table, not a freestanding device
- Up to 4 probes, 2 meat probes and batteries included
- 250 hours of battery life according to Weber
Weaknesses according to our review:
- Weber lists it only for the Genesis II, Genesis II LX and Spirit II with an iGrill 3 plate, and it is not listed in the German Weber shop
- Installation in six to eight steps, with a screwdriver and a cable route through the side table
Editorial rating 8.6/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the Weber iGrill 3.
ThermoPro TP25: Bluetooth thermometer, 4 probes, mid-range
The ThermoPro TP25, now sold as the TempPro, has four wired probes, an illuminated display on the transmitter and Bluetooth 5.0 with 200 m outdoors according to the manufacturer. The manual states ±1.0 °C between 0 and 100 °C. Our price box lists approx. €37, and the Inkbird IBT-4XS is €23 more in our catalogue.
Our assessment: The TP25 suits you if you want to monitor several pieces, or one piece plus the cooking chamber, by cable and move far from the grill. If you want to cook without a cable or want a stated battery life, look at the TempSpike Twin or the Inkbird IBT-4XS.
Strengths according to our review:
- Four probes on one transmitter: according to the product page, up to four pieces or three dishes plus ambient
- 200 m wireless range outdoors according to the manufacturer, while the Inkbird IBT-4XS states 46 m
- Display on the transmitter shows all four probe temperatures without a smartphone
Weaknesses according to our review:
- The 200 m apply only outdoors at 25 °C without obstacles; with a wall or lid, TempPro gives no figure
- Wired probes: on a rotisserie spit they can get tangled according to the manufacturer, and for wireless it points to the TP862B
Editorial rating 8.4/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the ThermoPro TP25.
ThermoPro TP19H: instant-read thermometer
The TP19H is a hand-held thermometer with a folding stainless steel probe and an illuminated LCD. According to the manufacturer it measures from minus 50 to 300 °C, with ±0.5 °C between minus 10 and 100 °C. For the response time, the sources give 1, 3 and 4 seconds. Our price box lists approx. €19.
Our assessment: The TP19H suits you if you occasionally want to check the core temperature of chicken or steaks and then put the device away. For measurements over several hours you need a device that stays in the meat, such as the ThermoPro TP25 or the MEATER 2 Plus. Check the model number before buying: TP-19H is the device this is about.
Strengths according to our review:
- Illuminated LCD, rotatable by 180° according to the manufacturer
- IP65, can be rinsed under running water according to the manufacturer
- Magnet and hanging hole for storage
Weaknesses according to our review:
- Response time of 1, 3 or 4 seconds depending on the source, without measuring conditions
- Accuracy of ±0.5 °C only between minus 10 and 100 °C
Editorial rating 7.8/10, purchase route via Amazon. All data, sources and the FAQ are in the individual review of the ThermoPro TP19H.
Buying guide: finding the right grill thermometer
How many pieces do you want to monitor at once?
The devices differ clearly here. The MEATER 2 Plus and the MEATER Plus have one probe per set. The ThermoPro TempSpike Twin comes with two probes, and its booster accepts no more: a third probe cannot be paired with this booster. Four measuring points are offered by the MEATER Block with four numbered probes, the ThermoPro TP25 with four wired probes and the Weber iGrill 3, which takes up to four probes and comes with two meat probes.
Our assessment: if you mostly cook one piece, a single probe is enough. If several pieces often lie on the grate at the same time, or a separate probe should also measure the cooking chamber, you need one of the multi-probe devices. For the TP25, the product page explicitly states up to four pieces or three dishes plus ambient.
Wireless or wired?
Wireless probes save the cable route through the grill lid. That is the advantage of the MEATER 2 Plus, MEATER Plus, MEATER Block and TempSpike Twin. In return, the wireless link between probe and station depends on where the station sits. With the MEATER 2 Plus, the probe transmits up to 10 m to the charging station. For the MEATER Block, MEATER states only up to 3 m for kettle grills and smokers, and the station must not get warmer than 60 °C. For the TempSpike Twin, the instructions give only 4 m in the worst case in a closed metal cooker. So the station belongs close to the grill, but with MEATER neither on nor next to hot surfaces.
The TP25 works with wired probes. That removes the wireless link between probe and transmitter, but on a rotisserie spit the cables can get tangled according to the manufacturer. For a wireless device, ThermoPro points to another model there.
How hot does it get at the probe?
If you mainly grill indirectly, what matters is whether the cooking chamber stays below the probe’s limit. According to MEATER, the MEATER Plus and MEATER Block are rated up to 275 °C ambient temperature and intended only for indirect heat, and the probe has to come out before searing. The TempSpike Twin measures ambient up to 300 °C.
If you also want to leave the probe in the food over direct heat or when deep frying, of the MEATER models on the list only the MEATER 2 Plus is approved for this: according to the manufacturer its ambient sensor is rated up to 550 °C, and MEATER approves direct cooking, deep frying and open fire within the limits. For charcoal grills, however, the German instructions describe a separate, more cautious procedure with warnings about the risk of burns. You can find it in full in the review of the MEATER 2 Plus.
For the Weber iGrill 3, Weber gives a heat limit of 380 °C for the probes, and the cable should be kept out of flames and above 380 °C. For the TP25 there is no information on embers or open flame, so we would pull the probe before a hot sear.
Smartphone, display or both?
The MEATER 2 Plus shows the values only in the app, which requires a MEATER Cloud account. The charging station has no display and no Wi-Fi. Remote access there only works through a second smart device as a bridge. The MEATER Block, by contrast, brings a display on the station, a standalone mode for cooking without a smartphone and Wi-Fi for remote access, though only on the 2.4 GHz band.
You can also read without a phone on the TempSpike Twin (booster with illuminated display) and on the TP25 (display on the transmitter). According to the manual illustrations, the Weber iGrill 3 has no display on the module, and display and alarms run through the iGrill app. The ThermoPro TP19H has an illuminated display, but neither an app nor Bluetooth.
Does the device suit your grill?
With the Weber iGrill 3, the grill decides: it is permanently built into the side table and, according to Weber, only fits the Genesis II, Genesis II LX and Spirit II with an iGrill 3 plate. The manual shows installation in six to eight steps, and the pictures show a screwdriver in use. If you have a different grill, you are better served by a freestanding device.
How far you can move from the grill is shown by the manufacturer values outdoors: 200 m for the TP25, 150 m for the TempSpike Twin, 45 m in line of sight for the iGrill 3. Walls and metal lids can reduce these values.
The TP19H is the exception on the list: it only measures briefly in the hand and suits an occasional check of steak or chicken. It is also the cheapest device on the list.
How this list came about
We have not handled any of these products ourselves. The basis is our individual reviews, and they rely on manufacturer information, operating instructions and retailer pages; where we assess something ourselves, it says so there. The rating is our editorial rating based on build quality, performance, handling and value for money, as described in the rating methodology.
Only grill thermometers whose review we have newly revised and which were in stock at at least one of our shops on 21 October 2026 are included in this list. From these we show the 7 with the highest overall rating, in this order. We earn a commission on purchases through our links, which differs in size depending on the shop; it has no influence on the order.
