The Videro G2-P suits you if you grill for one to four people on a balcony or patio, can put the gas cylinder next to the grill and have a heat-resistant surface. If you want a high-temperature zone or considerably more grate area, you end up, in our assessment, with the Videro G4-S Vario+, and if you would rather work with disposable cartridges, with the Weber Q 1200N.

Two burners, a grate of 39 x 32.5 cm, a lid with a viewing window, and the whole thing weighs approx. 12.5 kg according to the manual. The Rösle Videro G2-P is a gas grill that you set down on a surface: instead of a trolley it has four heat-resistant rubber feet, so it needs a suitable table or the separately sold stand.

A tabletop grill for balcony and patio

Rösle from Marktoberdorf sells the grill under item no. 250563 as a BBQ-Portable of the Videro series in the 50 mbar version. The old product number 25563 is also the model number in the Amazon catalogue, and the EAN is 4004293255631. Rösle also sells it in its own shop. On Amazon it costs approx. €300 (Amazon page on 20.10.2026: €299.99).

The product page names balcony and patio as the place of use and 1 to 4 as the number of people. The Amazon text goes further and lists garden, day trip and camping; what the instructions allow of that is covered further down under the balcony. According to the manual, the outer dimensions are 45 x 45 x 34.7 cm (width, depth, height with the lid closed).

For transport, two side clips lock the lid to the combustion chamber, and you carry it by the large lid handle. The instructions require these latches to be closed for every transport, and you do not move the grill at all during use. According to Rösle it is sold only to Germany and Austria. You can find more gas grills of all sizes in our gas grill category.

Burners, grate, lid: what the G2-P is made of

Under the grate are two stainless steel main burners of 2.2 kW each, 4.4 kW together. Each has its own control knob; in the product photo the two knobs sit left and right of the Rösle logo on the front panel. Ignition is by piezo, which Rösle calls the Jet-Flame system. The procedure according to the manual: push the control in, turn it slowly anticlockwise to MAX until it clicks, and then hold the knob pressed for approx. 2 seconds. You keep at least 30 cm away from the ignition source and never lean over the open grill.

On materials the manual is clear. Fire bowl, main grate, warming rack, heat diffuser and grease tray are stainless steel, and the grate is two-piece. The product page also lists the combustion chamber as stainless steel. On the outside sits a housing of powder-coated black steel, and the manual calls the colour matt black. Earlier versions of this page spoke of enamelled cast iron grates; that was wrong.

The lid is double-walled and has a glass insert. The thermometer in it shows °C and °F, and its measuring range runs from 60 to 350 °C with a tolerance of ± 10 °C. Behind the main grate is a warming rack that slides back when you open the lid and can be removed. You pull the stainless steel grease tray out towards the front.

The G2-P has no high-temperature zone. In the equipment table there is a dash for Primezone, and likewise for its output.

For assembly, according to the assembly instructions, the fixing parts are included (4 x A, 4 x B, 2 x C). You need tools in wrench sizes 17 and 19 mm and a Phillips PH 2 screwdriver.

In detail: what 4.4 kW means on this grate

The kW figure of a gas grill describes how much energy is in the gas that the burners burn per hour. With the G2-P you can check this by calculation, because the manual also gives the consumption: 320 g per hour with both burners at full output. Liquefied gas has a calorific value of around 13.7 kWh per kilogram, and 0.32 kg times 13.7 gives 4.4 kW. So the two figures fit together.

More interesting is how the output is spread over the area. We divided the manufacturer figures by each other:

  • Rösle Videro G2-P: 4.4 kW on 1,267 cm², so around 3.5 W per cm²
  • Weber Q 1200N: 2.93 kW according to Weber on 1,290 cm², around 2.3 W per cm²
  • Rösle Videro G4-S Vario+: 14 kW from four main burners on 70 x 45 cm (3,150 cm²), around 4.4 W per cm²
  • Broil King Regal 590: 16 kW on 4,032 cm², around 4.0 W per cm²

The small Rösle is therefore closer to the large grill trolleys than to the Weber. This is not a temperature figure. How hot it gets under the lid also depends on sealing, wind and outside temperature, and none of us has measured it on this appliance. As a comparison of how much gas burns under each piece of grate, the calculation is still useful.

For preheating, the manual gives a clear rule: all burners on MAX, lid closed, 15 minutes or until the thermometer shows 250 °C. The grill should not exceed 350 °C, because it can otherwise warp. Bear in mind that a lid thermometer fundamentally measures the air under the hood and not the surface of the grate.

With two separately adjustable burners you have two zones: one side hot, the other low or off. The section on indirect grilling in the manual is, however, written in general terms. It says the two outer main burners should be on and the food should sit in the middle, which leaves no middle with exactly two burners. We would light one burner and put the food over the one that is switched off. That is our reading, not a Rösle instruction; how the principle works is explained in our guide to direct and indirect heat.

Does the G2-P fit on my balcony?

Rösle explicitly names the balcony as a place of use. The instructions do set limits, though: outdoors only, not covered, not under an awning, 1.5 m clearance from anything flammable and a heat-resistant surface. Whether your balcony allows that depends more on its position than on the grill.

As worded in the instructions, the grill must not be operated in a garage, on a covered or enclosed porch or patio, in other enclosed places, in caravans or on watercraft. It is also off limits under an unprotected combustible roof, an awning or an overhang. Within 1.5 m above, below, to the side, in front of and behind the grill there must be nothing flammable; as examples the manual names treated wooden decks, wooden porches and textiles. For vinyl cladding, large window fronts and house facades, Rösle recommends additional clearance. Whether the concrete balcony of the neighbours above you counts as a cover, the instructions leave open. We would ask Rösle about that before buying.

The surface is the point where tabletop grills often fail. Rösle requires a level, solid and heat-resistant base, never a flammable surface, and nothing flammable is stored under the grill. By that wording a wooden table is ruled out.

You stand the gas cylinder upright next to the grill. According to the drawing in the manual it may be at most 570 mm high and 320 mm in diameter. Operation is with butane or propane at 50 mbar, and the pressure regulator has an integrated hose rupture protection that blocks the gas flow in case of damage. You route the hose freely, without contact with hot surfaces, not directly under the grease tray and without unnecessary kinks.

Because fuel gas is heavier than air, you store the cylinder outdoors and not near cellar stairs or drains, where it could collect. The instructions do not rule out camping in the open, but they do rule out operation in or on the caravan. What your rental contract and house rules allow is something no grill manufacturer clarifies for you; our guide grilling on a balcony collects advice on this.

What Rösle leaves open and where the figures contradict each other

Rösle’s own documents disagree in several places. The manual and product description give 39 x 32.5 cm (1,267 cm²) for the main grate, the short specs of the same product page 40 x 33.5 cm. For the warming rack there are three values: 39 x 13 cm in the description, 40 x 13 cm in the short specs and 36 x 16 cm in the technical data of the manual. The width is given once as 45 and once as 47 cm, the height as 34.7 or 34.5 cm. For weight, approx. 12.5 kg in the manual stands against 17.3 kg in the shop data, which also give a packaging size of 590 x 560 x 390 mm; we suspect that the 17.3 kg includes the carton.

Two contradictions concern the equipment. The data table in the manual lists a side burner of 2.0 kW, although the product page, Amazon and the overview drawing show none; we assume the grill does not have one. And while the product page describes the combustion chamber as stainless steel, the manual warns when cleaning about chipping of the enamel of the combustion chamber.

No information at all is given on: the country of manufacture, the year of market launch (the assembly instructions carry only the note “as of 2021”), an achievable maximum temperature, the heat-up time to a particular temperature, a complete list of what is delivered including hose length, the material of the lid and glass pane, the assembly time, approval of the grates for the dishwasher, and whether the grill runs on cartridges or small camping cylinders.

Accessories, spare parts and what comes afterwards

Rösle sells four accessories that are expressly intended for the G2-P. In the Rösle shop the stand costs €99.95, the cover €29.95, the carry bag €49.95 and the griddle plate €39.95. In the Amazon text the bag carries item no. 25455 and the stand 25456, and Amazon lists the griddle plate as 25454. The names each mention G2-P and E2-P, so going by the names the accessories also fit the electric sister model Rösle Videro E2-P.

If you keep the grill for longer, you can reorder directly from Rösle. The shop lists, among others:

  • Stainless steel burner 50 mbar for €14.95, heat diffuser also €14.95
  • Thermometer for €16.95 and warming rack for €29.95
  • Grease tray for €34.95 and pressure regulator with hose rupture protection for €44.95
  • Stainless steel grate for €49.95
  • Combustion chamber and control console including valve unit for €129.00 each, lid without handle for €164.00

For gas, the consumption figure helps. At 320 g per hour, one kilogram of liquefied gas lasts by calculation a good three hours with both burners at full output. With a smaller flame it lasts correspondingly longer; Rösle has not published values for partial load. According to no Rösle source is a gas cylinder part of what is delivered, so it comes on top.

Burn-in, cleaning and safety according to the instructions

Before the first barbecue you peel the stickers off the glass, wash the grates mildly and let all burners run for 30 minutes at full output with the lid closed. Rösle calls this the burn-in. Before every use a leak check is due, even if the retailer or someone else assembled the grill. Added to that are a look at the drains to the grease tray, checking burners and nozzles for blockages and a visual check of the hose for animal bites, cracks, porous spots and crushing.

After grilling you let it keep burning for 5 minutes, turn the controls to OFF and brush the grate with a long-handled brush. You empty the grease tray only after it has cooled. On thoroughness with the grate the instructions are clear: let it cool, soak in hot water, no unalloyed steel brush, no steel wool, no scouring agent, then rinse and dry. You clean the grease tray regularly with warm soapy water and, like the grilling chamber, never line it with aluminium foil or sand; Rösle advises drip trays instead.

For a basic clean, the manual provides for pre-cleaning tray and grate, heating the grill for 15 to 20 minutes at full output, letting it cool and then cleaning thoroughly. Burning off alone is expressly not enough for the lower part of the combustion chamber. On cleaning agents the instructions contradict themselves: for the combustion chamber they recommend oven or grill cleaner with thorough rinsing, whereby no water may run into burners and nozzles. In the same section they forbid abrasive stainless steel polishes and oven cleaner, abrasive kitchen cleaners, acidic agents and scouring sponges for the grill. We would use only mild agents on the outside and ask Rösle about the combustion chamber. The manufacturer occasionally expects some surface rust on steel parts of outdoor appliances.

Only liquefied gas is an option as fuel. Charcoal, briquettes, logs and lava stones have no place in the grill, nor does natural gas, and converting it to that voids the operating permit. The instructions also require a class F fire extinguisher to be kept ready. On its overview page it sums up safety in six points: use outdoors only, accessible parts can get very hot and children stay away, keep away from flammable materials during use, do not move during use, close the gas supply at the cylinder after use, no modifications to the appliance.

What else comes into question?

The prices are guide values from our price boxes and change; the rating is our editorial assessment of the available data, we have not measured anything.

Who the G2-P suits and who it does not

The first question is the number of people. Rösle names 1 to 4 people, and on 1,267 cm² of grate that is, in our assessment, also the honest limit. If you regularly grill for six or more, the Videro G4-S Vario+ with a 70 x 45 cm main grate is Rösle’s answer, but it costs many times as much and needs space for a BBQ station, which according to the manual weighs approx. 51 kg.

The second is the spot. Without a heat-resistant table, the stand comes on top. If you add the stand (€99.95) and the cover (€29.95) from the Rösle shop to the approx. €300 at Amazon, you land at around €430, not counting the gas cylinder. Anyone who wants to grill on a wooden balcony with fabric screening will fail with the G2-P on the 1.5 m clearance that the instructions require.

Then the gas supply. The G2-P hangs on a cylinder with a pressure regulator. If you do not want to store a cylinder on the balcony, the Weber Q 1200N is the alternative: according to Weber it runs on disposable cartridges of 430 to 460 g to EN 417, but it has only one burner and therefore no second zone.

For steaks seared hard, the G2-P lacks a high-temperature zone. The Primezone of the G4-S is an infrared burner with a ceramic surface that, according to the Amazon text, reaches up to 800 °C. Anyone who buys a gas grill for exactly that is badly advised with the small Rösle. If instead you grill on the patio for two or four, with one side for sausages and a second for keeping warm, the G2-P gives you a grate and heat diffuser made of stainless steel, and you can reorder both individually later. If you are still unsure which size suits your space, the Grill Finder helps.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Rösle Videro G2-P

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for Rösle Videro G2-P.

Can I run the G2-P at 30 mbar or abroad?

Not this version. Item 25563 is built for butane and propane at 50 mbar in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with 0.65 mm nozzles. For countries such as France, the Netherlands, Italy or the United Kingdom, the manual lists variant 25566 with 30 mbar and 0.72 mm nozzles. A pressure regulator from another country therefore does not simply fit; according to the instructions, only approved regulators to EN 16436 or EN 16129 with the national operating pressure are permitted.

What do I do if a burner will not light or goes out?

If it will not light, you turn the control back to OFF and wait 2 minutes until the accumulated gas has dispersed, then try again. If a burner goes out during use, you close all valves, open the lid and wait five minutes. If there is no spark at all when igniting, the troubleshooting section gives a target gap of 5 to 8 mm between burner and electrode.

What do I do if I smell gas?

Close the gas supply at the cylinder immediately. Then, according to the manual, you extinguish all open flames, turn the controls to OFF and open the grill lid. If possible, you move the appliance away from buildings and flammable objects. Then you keep your distance and call the fire brigade if the smell persists. Rösle explains this by saying that escaping gas can cause fires or explosions.

What warranty does Rösle give on the G2-P?

Only the statutory warranty, counted from the invoice date, for material and manufacturing defects; claims go through the retailer. According to the manual, the following are excluded: transport damage, improper use, wear parts, signs of use, weather and chemical influences, care instructions not followed, improper repairs and non-original parts. If grease in the drip tray causes a fire, the warranty also lapses.

How do I store the grill over winter?

In a dry, protected room, with the grates rubbed with sunflower oil. If the grill is kept indoors, the gas cylinder is disconnected and goes outside to a well-ventilated spot. For a longer break you oil the burners lightly, and before the first barbecue in spring you check the hose carefully. According to the instructions, you should regularly check nozzles, gas pipes and burners for spiderwebs, insects and larval cocoons.

Can I put a griddle plate or a pizza stone on it?

Yes, but never across the whole surface. The manual forbids covering the entire cooking area with food, griddle plates, drip trays or pizza stones, because heat builds up underneath. Rösle sells the matching VIDERO G2-P/E2-P griddle plate separately. So part of the grate must stay free, and the slots and ventilation openings at the back of the hood must not be blocked either.

How do I check the gas connections for leaks?

Controls on OFF, connect the pressure regulator, open the cylinder valve at least two turns and coat all gas-carrying parts with soap solution (approx. 50% liquid soap, 50% water) or leak detection spray. If bubbles form, you tighten or replace the part and check again. Afterwards you rinse the connections with water and dry them, otherwise rust is a risk. If a leak cannot be fixed, the grill must not be operated.

How often do I need to replace the hose, pressure regulator and cylinder?

Rösle recommends replacing the gas hose every 5 years, with national regulations taking precedence. You replace the pressure regulator before 10 years have passed since its manufacturing date, and have the gas cylinder inspected every 10 years by an authorised specialist company. The hose must not be longer than 1.5 m, and only officially approved hoses are an option.
