The GRILLMATE grill table is a folding aluminium frame on which you place a tabletop grill. Fold-out shelves hang all around it, and a compartment sits underneath. It costs approx. €120 (Amazon page on 20 October 2026: €119.99). In the Grill accessories category, it is the only table we have.
Our source is the Amazon catalogue, specifically the product text the seller has stored there and the data fields of the entry, retrieved on 5 October 2026. We did not reach a manufacturer website: grillmate.de and grillmate.eu aborted the encrypted connection setup when we called them, grillmate.com is a parked domain, and the web search turned up only retailer listings, neither a data sheet nor instructions. We did not have the table in front of us. What you read here is a data comparison and, in some places, our reading of the product photo, and where that is the case, it says so.
A stand for tabletop grills, not a garden table
The product text commits itself. The table is designed “as a stand and under-table” for the Ninja Woodfire, Ninja Woodfire Pro XL, Weber Q and comparable tabletop grills and electric grills, and the grill is meant to sit at working height instead of on the ground.
That is a different job from that of a side table. Next to a freestanding grill, a side table holds plates and tongs; it does not carry the weight of the grill. With the GRILLMATE, the grill sits on the frame, and the shelves around the outside take over the role of the side tables that a gas grill with a trolley has as standard. So it is aimed at people who already own a compact grill and have so far put it on a garden chair, a stool or the balcony floor.
As places of use, the text names balcony, garden and patio. The table is meant to stand on balcony, patio and lawn. A second role comes on top: as a foldable camping kitchen, it is meant to come along to the campsite, the lake or the garden.
On the main image at Amazon, an electric tabletop grill with its lid open stands on the top plate. In the same image sits the seal of a comparison portal with a score and the date 02/2026, next to the print “Jetzt neu! Deutsches Unternehmen” (“Brand new! German company”). We did not open the source of the seal, and we did not find an imprint that documents the company’s registered office. Neither goes into our assessment.
Dimensions, material and shelves
Set up, the table measures 125 x 46 x 81 cm according to the product text. The data fields of the catalogue give the same values in inches (49.21 x 18.11 x 31.89), and converted they match to the centimetre. Which stretch the 125 cm covers is not stated. In the photo, the side shelves sit at the left and right outside of the frame, and catalogue dimensions are generally overall dimensions. We therefore assume that the unfolded shelves are included in the width. The plate the grill stands on is then clearly narrower than 125 cm; exactly how wide cannot be derived from the figures.
According to the text, frame and plates are made of rust-free aluminium, and the colour according to the catalogue is black. In the photo, the top plate and the side shelves are broken up with slots, and the lower levels look like a grid.
The text describes the shelves as “fold-out side shelves, a lower compartment and side hooks”. Together, shelves, compartment and hooks are supposed to create room for tongs, plates, spices and charcoal according to the product text. How that is distributed in the image is not clear: several levels can be seen under and next to the top plate, and which of them counts as a side shelf and which as the compartment, we cannot say for certain from the photo.
For load capacity there is a single figure: “The shelf surface bears up to 50 kg.” Whether this means the top plate or the whole table is not clear from the sentence.
On setup and takedown, it says: unfolded in seconds, folded flat for storage, and after grilling it disappears behind the door or into the boot. According to the text, one person can carry it, and a carry bag is part of the delivery.
In detail: What a frame under a tabletop grill has to withstand
Two things decide whether an under-table is suitable for a grill. It must not tip, and it must tolerate the heat that goes downward from the grill.
First, tipping. The GRILLMATE is 81 cm tall and 46 cm deep, so almost twice as tall as it is deep. With a ratio like that, sideways pressure at the top, for example when someone leans on the edge or wind pushes against an open grill lid, is enough for the frame to lever itself up over the front or rear feet. Weight low down helps against that. If you put heavy things such as drinks or a bucket of water in the lower compartment instead of on the side shelves, you lower the centre of gravity and make the frame more stable. Unfolded side shelves, fully loaded, work in the other direction because they carry weight outside the legs.
On lawn there is another point. Thin legs sink unevenly into soft ground, especially after rain. The grill then sits crooked, and the fat in the drip tray runs to the low side.
Then the heat. Aluminium conducts heat about four times as well as steel. For a plate under a grill, that means the heat does not build up in one spot but spreads over the whole surface, and the whole plate gets warm, including where you put down plates or a plastic tub. Aluminium melts at around 660 °C, but its strength drops noticeably well below that. An electric tabletop grill has its heating at the top under the grate and gives off comparatively little downward. A charcoal grill has the embers directly above the base, where it gets many times hotter. In our view, that explains why the product text names tabletop and electric grills and no charcoal devices.
The slots in the plates have a consequence that is easy to overlook in the photo. Whatever goes astray, fat, marinade or food, drips through onto the level below. If there is a plate there or the charcoal lies there, that is where it ends up.
Will my tabletop grill fit on the GRILLMATE?
According to the seller, the table is designed for the Ninja Woodfire, Ninja Woodfire Pro XL and Weber Q. Whether the footprint of your grill fits on the top plate, you still have to clarify yourself, because there is no plate dimension anywhere.
Here is how we would go about it. Measure the distance between the outer feet on your grill in width and depth. All feet must stand on the plate, with air to the edge, otherwise the grill levers over when you open the lid. Many tabletop grills have a lid that opens towards the back. If the grill stands flush with the rear edge, the open lid sticks out over the table, and the centre of gravity moves backwards with it.
You can clarify this with the retailer before buying: ask for the width and depth of the top plate without the side shelves. If you cannot get that, put a folding rule to it after unpacking and, if necessary, send the table back within the return period.
An electric grill also needs power at the place of use. As a general rule, only an extension cable approved for outdoor use belongs outside, and the cable should lie so that nobody catches on it when walking around the table. Which route suits the frame for that, the photo does not show.
What the manufacturer does not state
Without a manufacturer website and without instructions, a number of points remain open. We list them here once, together, so that they do not come up in every paragraph:
- Width and depth of the top plate and of the individual side shelves
- Height of the plate the grill stands on; only the overall height is documented
- Pack size when folded
- Load rating of the side shelves and of the lower compartment on their own
- Heat resistance of the surface, minimum clearances and an approval for charcoal or gas grills
- Height adjustment or adjustable feet
- Number of hooks, material of the carry bag, material of the feet
- Surface treatment of the aluminium, that is, whether anodised or powder-coated
- Assembly, tools needed and how the legs lock
- Warranty terms and spare parts supply
- Registered office, country of origin and place of production
Equally undocumented are concrete fit dimensions for the grills the product text names. Range and variants: we did not find other GRILLMATE products or other versions of this table.
Weather, care and safety
Frame and plates “tolerate rain and sun”, says the product text. It says nothing more about outdoor use, and there is no care guide, so also no sentence on what the plates may be cleaned with. Everything else in this section is general practice, not a requirement from GRILLMATE.
Rust-free in aluminium means: it does not form rust like steel, but a thin oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. Scratches in a black coating expose the bare metal; it will not rust there, but the scratch stays visible. Fat that has run into the slots, we would remove after grilling while it is still soft. Baked-on fat on a coating is hard to remove without attacking it, and we would not use steel wool or a wire brush on a surface with an unknown treatment.
On safety, the basic rule is: for the grill on the table, its own instructions count. What they say on clearances, ground and outdoor operation also applies when it stands on the GRILLMATE. If you grill on a balcony, you should also know what your tenancy agreement and house rules allow; in Germany, that depends on the individual case and is described in more detail in our guide Grilling on a balcony. An electric grill is usually the least controversial choice there, and the table is designed for exactly such devices.
Three alternatives from our catalogue
In our Grill accessories category, the GRILLMATE has no direct rival; we do not list a second grill table there. The three alternatives below therefore solve the same problem in a different way, or they stand for a different use of the same budget.
| Model | The difference | Price | Our score | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GRILLMATE grill table (this one) | Frame with shelves for an existing tabletop grill | approx. €120 | 7.9 | your tabletop grill so far sits on the floor or a stool |
| GERBERDING 2in1 folding table with grill function | Table with its own grill insert | approx. €66 | 7.4 | you do not have a tabletop grill yet and want table and grill in one bag |
| Weber Q 1200N with side tables and stand | Gas grill with stand and side tables as a package | approx. €499 | 8.4 | you are buying the grill and the base frame new together |
| Petromax Feuertopf ft6 | Cast iron pot, not a table | approx. €75 | 9.0 | your accessories budget should go into a way to cook rather than into surface space |
The prices come from our price boxes and change with the market. The score is our editorial assessment from the data comparison; no measurement result stands behind it.
Who the GRILLMATE is worth it for, and when something else suits better
The basic question is whether you already have a tabletop grill. If a Ninja Woodfire or an electric grill of similar size stands on the floor or a wobbly garden chair at your place, the GRILLMATE is built for exactly that, and the shelves replace the side tables that such a grill does not have.
If you do not have a grill yet, the sums look different. The Weber Q 1200N with side tables and stand costs approx. €499 (on 21 October 2026 only from marketplace sellers on Amazon; Amazon itself did not offer it), the GRILLMATE alone approx. €120. In this package, grill, frame and shelves are matched to each other, and the fit question does not arise. If you want to go for a Weber Q anyway, you should hold the package price against the price of the grill without a stand plus approx. €120 for the GRILLMATE.
If you grill with charcoal, the GRILLMATE is the wrong choice. An approval for it is missing, and for the reasons described above we would not put a charcoal grill on an aluminium plate. The GERBERDING at approx. €66 is a table with its own grill insert and comes from the charcoal-grill corner of our catalogue.
For camping, what speaks for the GRILLMATE is that one person carries it and it travels in one bag. If you regularly drive to the campsite by car, you should still clarify the pack size first; more on that in our guide Buying a camping grill.
And then there is a group for whom, in our view, the table is out of the question: if you want to see instructions, warranty terms and a reachable manufacturer before buying, you will not find any of that here. For a frame that carries a hot grill at hip height, that is not a detail. If you are still unsure about the type of grill itself, the Grill finder helps with the choice before you think about the frame underneath.
