GERBERDING 2in1 Klapptisch mit Grillfunktion

★★★★☆3.7 · Editorial score2in1 folding table with grill insert, aluminium frame, for 2 to 3 people
✓ Editorially checkedRated by Seydhan Cakmak (Founder and editor in chief) · 4 July 2026

The GERBERDING 2in1 camping table is a clever solution for anyone who wants to save luggage on short trips and grills only for 2 to 3 people. In our assessment the concept mainly fits if you drive to a pitch without a table. If you cater for larger groups or want to grill with a lid, you are better served by a grill with a documented grate size and a lid, such as the Weber Go-Anywhere.

In brief7.4/10

At approx. €66, the GERBERDING 2in1 camping table is a folding table with an insertable charcoal grill, intended for 2 to 3 people according to its title. According to the seller it folds and can be carried in its own bag. At approx. 5.8 kg according to the catalogue, it is meant more for the car than for a rucksack; the seller gives no grilling area in centimetres.

The GERBERDING 2in1 is a folding table with a plate into which a charcoal grill can be inserted. Amazon lists it as “Klappgrill mit Tischfunktion für 2-3 Personen” (folding grill with table function for 2 to 3 people) and, a few words further on in the same title, as “Mini Grill ideal für kurze Trips” (mini grill ideal for short trips). On our site it sits under charcoal grills, among the small camping and folding grills. According to our price box it costs approx. €66 (Amazon page on 20 October 2026: €65.99).

Where our information comes from: the Amazon catalogue (title, five seller bullet points and the product data fields, retrieved on 5 October 2026) and the product photo. We found no manufacturer site, and no instruction manual either. We did not grill on the table, nor did we have it in our hands. For this product that is more than a formality, because much of what you want to know before buying a grill appears in none of these sources. We therefore separate what is documented from what we infer, sentence by sentence.

What the photo shows and what the catalogue says about it

The main photo is the richest document on this product. It shows a black table whose plate consists of several segments, with folding legs and crossed braces underneath. At the back of the plate sits a silver, rectangular box with a grate on top, on which skewers and steaks are lying. Two dark plate pieces lean against it on the left: apparently the pieces that were taken out for the box. At the front stands a black bag with the GERBERDING logo and the slogan “Date with Nature”, which the seller also uses in its bullet points.

How the conversion works exactly, whether tools are needed for it, and whether the box can only sit in this one position cannot be read from the picture or the text. The seller speaks of a “camping table with integrable grill” that you can use “as a sturdy table” or turn into a grill.

There is a single sentence on material: “Sturdy aluminium frame & heat-resistant grilling surface” (in the original: “Stabiler Aluminiumrahmen & hitzebeständige Grillfläche”). What the grilling surface is made of remains open. In the photo the box looks bare metallic.

At the top right of the photo is a blue seal reading “SEHR GUT (1,1)” (German for “very good (1.1)”). Who awarded the verdict and by which criteria is not legible at the image size. We do not rate it and do not use it as evidence.

The product data give 88.5 × 38.5 × 55 cm and a weight of 12.79 pounds, converted approx. 5.8 kg. The field names classify the values as width, length and height; whether they describe the set-up table, the grill mode or the packaging is not stated anywhere. Read as the set-up table, the plate would be just under 90 cm long and under 40 cm deep. That is more of a long shelf than a dining table at which three people set their plates side by side. A height of 55 cm would be well below a typical dining table and fits low camping chairs better. Both follow only from our reading of the numbers.

In detail: embers in an aluminium plate

A grill built into a table has a problem that a freestanding folding grill does not: right next to the embers lies the surface where plates, cups and chopping boards are supposed to stand. How well that works depends on thermal conductivity.

Pure aluminium conducts heat very well, at around 235 W/(m·K). Stainless steel, an obvious material for grill boxes, is at about 15 W/(m·K), so around one fifteenth. Heat that passes from the box into the aluminium frame spreads quickly across the surface instead of staying at the box. How hot the segments next to the box get in use is decided by the construction in detail: whether the box rests directly or hangs at a few points, whether an air gap remains in between, how much charcoal is glowing in it. There is no information on this, and we know of no measured values either.

A second point concerns the melting point. Aluminium melts at around 660 °C, and charcoal embers with good air supply can get hotter. The embers therefore belong in the box and never directly on an aluminium part. The photo suggests that the GERBERDING is built exactly that way.

Our conclusion from this: we would not put plastic plates, cool bags and drinks cans directly next to the box while embers are in it. Before packing up, we would rather check twice that the plate pieces have cooled down before they go into the fabric bag.

And because no lid is visible in the photo, the grill mode remains an open grate over the embers. You then control the heat solely through the charcoal: a dense layer of embers on one side, a thin one on the other, and the food moves between the two zones. Slow cooking at low temperature under a closed lid does not work this way.

Is it enough for three people?

That cannot be answered precisely, because there is no grate size. What is documented is the title’s “2-3 Personen” (2 to 3 people), a classification by the seller, not a dimension. For three adults we would expect to grill in rounds.

People counts are not a standardised measure for grills. One seller calculates two sausages per head, another steak, vegetables and bread at the same time. In the photo the box takes up only part of the table plate. How large that section is in centimetres cannot be seen in the picture, and we deliberately do not calculate a grilling area from the outer dimensions: they describe the whole frame including legs and shelf, not the grate.

In practical terms for planning: vegetables and bread beforehand or afterwards, meat in the middle of the evening, and for a fourth person better pack a second grill.

Carrying, packing, setting up: what fits the places of use

The seller describes transport like this: you can “fold the table up compactly and carry it conveniently in its own bag” (in the original: “kompakt zusammenklappen und bequem in seiner eigenen Tasche transportieren”). Whether the grill box also fits in the bag is not expressly stated; the sentence talks about the table. A packed size is missing.

As uses, the seller names camping, picnics, hiking and “a relaxed BBQ in nature”, as places the lake, the mountains and the forest. For the car and the campsite we see no objections. For hiking, the catalogue weight mentioned above becomes a drag, especially as charcoal comes on top: with a small sack of charcoal you quickly carry eight kilograms or more before food and drinks are in the rucksack.

On the forest we have to disagree. Open fire and grilling are in principle prohibited in forests under the forest laws of the German federal states, depending on state law also in a strip in front of the forest edge. It is generally allowed only at designated grill areas. At lakes and in the mountains, municipalities, protected-area ordinances or the operator of the bathing spot regulate it, and on a campsite the site rules do. If you travel to a new place, check the local rules beforehand, and under wildfire warning levels additional bans often apply.

Safety and care: what remains without a manual

The seller gives not a single sentence on set-up, safety and cleaning. What follows are general rules for charcoal grills and our own conclusions, not manufacturer specifications.

As a basic principle: charcoal only outdoors, on level, stable, non-flammable ground, away from tent walls, awnings, hedges and wooden benches. No methylated spirits and no petrol for lighting, and not for topping up either. Children and dogs keep their distance while embers are in the box.

The promotional photo sets the table up on grass. We would not do that on dry grass in high summer. Whether the box is closed at the bottom or ashes and pieces of ember can fall downward is not shown in the photo, and an ash catcher is not mentioned anywhere. On folding legs with crossed braces, a table also wobbles more easily on soft or sloping ground than a flat grill resting directly on it. A board under a sinking leg helps, a level spot helps more.

For cleaning, the seller names neither dishwasher nor care products. Without approval we would not put any part in the dishwasher. Aluminium turns dark in many dishwashers because the alkaline detergents attack the surface; a coating can come off. We would clean the grate with a grill brush and washing-up water after it has cooled, and the aluminium segments only with a soft cloth.

What the manufacturer does not state

These points are missing entirely from the title, bullet points and product data:

  • Size and material of the grate
  • Material, base and ash catcher of the grill box
  • Lid, windbreak and air vents
  • Height adjustment of grate or legs
  • Load capacity of the table plate in kilograms
  • Packed size in the bag
  • Scope of delivery as a complete list
  • Charcoal quantity, heating-up time and maximum temperature
  • Warranty terms, spare parts, country of origin

On top of that come two contradictions in the catalogue itself, one on the material and one on the model number; both are covered in the questions at the end of this page. If you need any of these points for your buying decision, ask the seller before ordering and get the answer in writing.

These three alternatives are worth a look

The prices are guide values from our price boxes and change constantly at the retailers. The rating is our editorial assessment of the documented data; we did not measure or grill with any of the four.

When the GERBERDING fits and when another grill does

The basic question is simple: is there already a table where you grill? On many campsites and at picnic spots with fixed seating, there is. Then with the GERBERDING you carry a table function you do not need, and get a grill about which hardly anything is known. According to our price boxes, the Weber Go-Anywhere costs approx. €95 instead of approx. €66 and has a lid and vent sliders. In our comparison it would be the better choice for anyone who finds a shelf at the destination.

If the table is missing, the picture reverses. If you drive by car to a lake with nothing but meadow, you pack one piece of luggage instead of two with the GERBERDING and have a surface for the chopping board next to the grate. The concept is built for exactly this case, and here we would also recommend it.

On foot or by bicycle it looks different. According to the manufacturer, the FENNEK Grill light weighs less than half as much including its bag and costs approx. €70 according to the price box, so slightly more than the GERBERDING at approx. €66. You then put your plate on a blanket.

If you prefer to control the heat with air vents rather than by moving the charcoal around, look at the Kendane for approx. €79.99, which, however, also has no table function.

The GERBERDING is the wrong choice for three groups. First, for groups of four or more who want to eat at the same time. Second, for anyone who needs documented information on material, warranty and spare parts before buying; for this product, it simply does not exist. Third, for tenants who actually want to grill on the balcony: what is allowed there with charcoal is covered in our guide Grilling on a balcony. A broader overview of gas, charcoal and electric for on the go is given by the camping grill buying guide.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about GERBERDING 2in1 Klapptisch mit Grillfunktion

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for GERBERDING 2in1 Klapptisch mit Grillfunktion.

How big is the grilling area of the GERBERDING 2in1?

A grate size in centimetres appears neither in the Amazon title nor in the bullet points or the product data. For comparison: for the Weber Go-Anywhere, which costs approx. €95 in our price box, Weber states a grate of 42 × 26 cm. As long as the seller gives no dimension, the GERBERDING cannot be compared with any other grill by area. The number of people in the title helps little, because every seller calculates portions differently.

Is the frame aluminium or stainless steel?

The catalogue says both, in different places. One bullet point names an aluminium frame, while the colour field of the product data reads “Mattschwarz & Edelstal” (matt black & stainless steel), typo included. Our guess: matt black refers to the table, stainless steel to the silver grill box in the photo. This split is not documented, and which grade of steel would be meant is not stated anywhere either. If you need to know for sure, ask the seller before ordering.

What is the model number of the GERBERDING camping table?

The Amazon catalogue lists two different numbers: TG3855 as the model, TG3555 as the part number. Whether that is a transposed digit or two versions are meant cannot be settled without a manufacturer site. For a complaint or a spare-parts enquiry, we would give both numbers, plus the ASIN B0F3V25ZL9 under which the product is listed on Amazon.

What else do I need for grilling besides the table?

The seller does write that no additional grill accessories are needed, but consumables remain: charcoal or briquettes, firelighters or a chimney starter, grill tongs and heat-resistant gloves. We would also pack a metal bucket for the ashes. Ashes can still contain embers hours after grilling and belong neither in a plastic bag nor in a plastic bin. No list says whether a grate is included in the delivery; in the photo, one sits on the box.

Can I use the GERBERDING in an awning, a caravan or on a balcony?

Not in an awning or a caravan. Smouldering charcoal releases carbon monoxide, an odourless gas that can be fatal in enclosed or half-open spaces. This applies to every charcoal grill; we found no separate warning from the seller for this model. On a balcony, your tenancy agreement and house rules decide. Charcoal is often expressly excluded there because of smoke and flying sparks, whereas an electric grill is more often allowed.

Is there a warranty or are there spare parts for the GERBERDING?

We found no manufacturer information on this, and no manufacturer site either: the domain gerberding.de belongs to a machining company with no grill or camping range. Regardless of that, as a consumer in Germany you have the statutory warranty of two years from delivery against the seller. We would not count on spare parts such as a second grate or a new bag as long as no source offers them.

What speaks for the Weber Go-Anywhere despite the higher price?

Mainly the lid and the documentation. Weber publishes the grate size, material details and an instruction manual, while the GERBERDING lacks grate size and manual. On weight, the two are close: 6.78 kg according to Weber against approx. 5.8 kg according to the Amazon catalogue, with the table already included for the GERBERDING. If you will find a table or bench at your destination anyway, the Weber gets you the more fully described grill for a surcharge; if you will not, the GERBERDING saves you one piece of luggage.
