On Enders’ own site, this grill is called HYDE 6 SIKR TURBO II, item number 8044. On Amazon the Roman numeral two is missing, but the number is the same. It is built by Enders Colsman AG from Werdohl, and within the Hyde series it is the largest model: a gas grill cart with six main burners, a side burner and an infrared back burner. In our gas grill category we list it at approx. €540 (Amazon page on 20.10.2026: €539).

Burners, grate and body

Under the lid there are six stainless steel burners, each with its own control knob. Four deliver 3.0 kW each, the two TURBO ZONE burners 4.0 kW each. Together that gives the approx. 20 kW from the title. For all burners together, that is including the back burner (3.5 kW) and side burner (2.9 kW), the table in the user manual gives 26.4 kW. The approx. 20 kW in the data sheet above refer only to the six main burners.

The TURBO ZONE knobs are red. In the product photo, both sit at the far right of the control strip, separated by a smaller black knob.

According to Enders, the main grate measures 96 x 42 cm, which is 4,032 cm². It is made of enamelled cast iron, is multi-part and belongs to the SWITCH GRID system, so the segments can be removed individually. There is also a stainless steel warming rack, which the manufacturer simply describes as large. Above the burners are flame covers that, according to Enders, are meant to protect the burners and distribute the heat.

The lid is double-walled and made of powder-coated steel, with a lid thermometer and a viewing window. The burner chamber beneath it is made of enamelled steel. Ignition is by a piezo igniter in the control knob, without a battery, and each burner ignites on its own.

When assembled, the grill is 168 cm wide, 56 cm deep and 117 cm high. With the side shelves folded down, the width shrinks to 146 cm, which counts when storing it in the shed. The working height is 91 cm and the weight 71 kg. The base cabinet has two drawers and a cupboard compartment, which is also where the gas cylinder stands, and on the Hyde 6 the gas connection is located there. The side burner can be folded shut and then serves as an extra shelf. The casters have locking brakes that must be engaged before every use.

In detail: infrared twice, but never at the same time

An ordinary gas burner mainly heats the air under the lid and the metal of the grate. Infrared burners give off a larger share of their energy as radiation that hits the surface of the food directly. That is why manufacturers use them where a crust is meant to form in a short time.

Enders describes the TURBO ZONE as a combination of specially developed burners and covers that together produce intensely glowing infrared radiation. On top of that comes an infrared mesh, with 800 °C stated. Technically, the two burners also differ at the nozzle: 0.82 mm in diameter instead of 0.72 mm on the normal main burners, and consumption rises accordingly from 218 to 291 g/h. Important for the grate area: on a low setting, the TURBO ZONE works like a normal grilling zone according to the manual. If you are not searing anything at the moment, you therefore lose no space there.

The infrared back burner has 3.5 kW and, according to the manual, delivers radiant heat of up to 800 °C; it is intended for the rotisserie spit. The manual contains a restriction here that you should know: the back burner must not be used at the same time as the other burners, and the warming rack should be removed while it is on. An earlier version of this page presented the spit and main burners as usable in parallel. That was wrong. On the Hyde 6, a spit roast and a round of steaks run one after the other.

For slow cooking, according to the manual you light only the side main burners, place the food between or next to the flames and close the lid. Directly over the flame, on the other hand, you do not have to close the lid; the grill is designed for that. Our guide to direct and indirect heat explains how the principle works. When reading temperatures, one sentence from the manual helps: the lid thermometer measures at the top of the lid, and at the grate it is considerably hotter.

For context, we converted the output to the area. The 20 kW of the six main burners over 4,032 cm² gives just under 5.0 W per square centimetre. The Monroe Pro 4 SIK Turbo from the same manufacturer, with 14.7 kW main burner output (3 x 3.5 kW and 1 x 4.2 kW) over 3,182 cm², comes to around 4.6 W. Both calculations are ours, with the starting values taken from the Enders product pages. How hot a grate actually gets additionally depends on wind, lid and outside temperature.

Does the Hyde 6 fit on a balcony?

In principle yes, the manual explicitly names a terrace or balcony as a place to set it up. Whether yours is enough depends on the clearances: at least 1 m from combustible and heat-sensitive materials and 2 m free above, plus 71 kg on a footprint of 168 x 56 cm.

Both clearances appear as a DANGER notice in the manual. The wording on the free space is: there must be no objects or parts of buildings above the grill below a height of 2 m. The sentence leaves open whether this is measured from the floor or from the grill. We would measure from the top edge of the grill. If there is another balcony above yours, take a folding rule up to its underside before buying.

Including the clearance, the Hyde 6 needs 3.68 m of width between two wooden walls, and 1.56 m of depth in front of a single wooden wall. This calculation is ours; it uses the full width with the side shelves unfolded.

There are also the places the manual rules out. Literally, it says: do not use the grill in garages, buildings, covered passages, tents, other enclosed areas or under combustible structures. In our reading, a wooden pergola over the terrace counts as a combustible structure. The ground should be nearly level and stable. Whether gas grills are allowed on your balcony at all is generally governed by your tenancy agreement and house rules, not by the manufacturer.

Gas cylinder, pressure regulator and leak check

The Hyde 6 runs on butane or propane at 50 mbar, appliance category I3B/P (50). It is approved for Germany and Austria and tested to DIN EN 498:2012 and DIN EN 484:2019 + AC:2020 (standards that apply in Germany). Hose and 50 mbar pressure regulator are included. The regulator contains a hose rupture protection (EFV) that stops the gas flow automatically if the hose breaks or comes off. Always mount the regulator horizontally, otherwise this very safety device can trigger.

The regulator is screwed onto the cylinder by hand, without tools. At the grill sits the hose’s union nut, which you counter-hold with a second 17 mm spanner and tighten. The hoses have a left-hand thread, so you turn anticlockwise. Through the side opening you guide the hose to the cylinder without kinks. It must not be longer than 1.50 m, and only hoses to EN 16436-2 and regulators to DIN EN 16129 are permitted. After ten years, hose and regulator are replaced, even if nothing is visible on the outside.

An 11 kg cylinder fits in the base cabinet and, according to the manufacturer, may also stay there during operation. Enders gives its size as Ø 30 cm x H 59 cm, and with the regulator screwed on it must not exceed this size. It stands in the intended recess, the ventilation openings in the base cabinet stay clear, and you store a second cylinder neither in the base cabinet nor near the grill.

After every cylinder change, you check three connections for leaks: between pressure regulator and gas cylinder, between gas hose and pressure regulator, and between gas hose and the gas connection on the grill. Open flames, including cigarettes or lighters, are prohibited during this. The manual describes seven steps:

  1. All control knobs are set to off, the grill has cooled down.
  2. Spray all connections with standard leak detection spray or brush them with soapy water in a ratio of 1:3 (soap to water).
  3. Open the valve of the gas cylinder.
  4. If bubbles form, immediately close the gas supply at the cylinder. The system is leaking, and the grill must under no circumstances be put into operation.
  5. Check the union nut at each connection point again, tighten it firmly and repeat the check.
  6. If no bubbles form, everything is tight. Close the cylinder valve and rinse the checked points with water.
  7. If bubbles continue to form, a connection is probably leaking. Then replace the pressure regulator or gas hose where the leak is.

If the gas escapes at the cylinder valve itself, you move away from the cylinder, try nothing on your own and call the fire brigade.

On consumption: the table gives 1,921 g/h for all burners together. This total never occurs in operation, because the back burner has to run on its own. By our calculation, the six main burners at full setting draw 1,454 g/h, so a full 11 kg cylinder lasts a good 7.5 hours. The back burner alone needs 255 g/h, the side burner 211 g/h. How long a cylinder lasts in mixed operation depends on your regulator settings.

Lighting, grilling, switching off

Before the first grilling, you run all burners for 20 minutes without food at the highest setting to remove production residues. A slight smell is normal during this according to Enders, and the lid and burner chamber may discolour slightly, which the manufacturer does not count as a defect.

You light it with the lid open, and for the side burner with its cover open. Do not lean over the cooking surface while doing so. Press the knob for two seconds, then turn it anticlockwise to the highest setting. If a burner fails to light several times, turn it to off and wait five minutes. If the piezo igniter fails, use a long match or a stick lighter. The manual advises vulnerable people, especially those with heart problems, to take particular care around the piezo igniter.

The side burner is a round hob burner for pots and pans with a diameter of 14 to 24 cm. Its cover stays open throughout operation, and it is never lit with the cover closed.

To switch off, you first close the gas cylinder and then turn all knobs clockwise to off.

Enders summarises intended use in four points: grilling and cooking outdoors in a private setting, solely for preparing food, no use as a fire pit, and no installation or operation in or on caravans or boats. Charcoal, briquettes and lava stones do not belong in this grill. In a grease fire, you immediately switch off all burners, keep the lid closed and close the gas cylinder until the fire has gone out. You never extinguish burning grease or oil with water. As a precaution, you dab off excess fat and marinade before grilling.

The grill is never left unattended while preheating and grilling, and it is not moved during operation. According to the manual, children and people who are mentally impaired or not of sound judgement must not operate it. For your hands, the manual calls for grill gloves with contact heat resistance level 2 or higher under DIN EN 407 (a standard that applies in Germany).

Cleaning, maintenance and warranty

After every grilling session, a quick clean in four steps is due. Burn off the grate for approx. five minutes on the highest setting, brush it with the grill brush while hot, rub it with a little rapeseed oil or another oil that can take high heat once it has cooled, and empty and clean the grease drawer and drip tray. According to Enders, burning off is not pyrolysis; it only works on the surface of the grate. Pay particular attention to grease on the inside of the burner chamber, on the burner covers and in the grease drawer, which according to the manual is the prevention against grease fires. You check the grill brush regularly for loose bristles.

A thorough clean is done at least twice a year, for frequent grillers quarterly if you like, and only on a switched-off, fully cooled grill. Enders calls the stainless steel inner parts of the burner chamber Simple Clean: they can be removed without tools and are dishwasher safe. You free the burner covers of coarse deposits with a sponge or washing-up brush and then also put them in the dishwasher. The viewing window and the inside of the lid get a sponge, warm water and washing-up liquid, enamelled and powder-coated surfaces warm soapy water and a soft cloth or microfibre cloth. For stainless steel surfaces, the manual names a pollutant-free, non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner or a grill polish with a microfibre cloth.

Abrasive stainless steel polishes, acidic or flammable cleaning agents, oven cleaner and abrasive or chlorine-containing cleaners are off limits. The grill also does not tolerate a strong jet of water from a garden hose or pressure washer. It must be completely dry before the next use. According to the manual, white or matt marks after cleaning often come from hard water and disappear with a mild mixture of water and citric acid.

You may remove the burners for cleaning after closing the gas supply, but not swap them with each other: the TURBO ZONE burner must go back exactly in its place. They are cleaned with a needle or a pipe cleaner, because insects and small animals can nest in the burner tube and disturb the gas supply. You never loosen stiff valves or control knobs with oil or penetrating oil; gas forms an explosive mixture with oil.

The manufacturer’s warranty is voluntary and applies to first-time buyers if the grill bears a warranty symbol. For the extended warranty, you register it with Enders within three months of purchase. The terms: lid unit and burner chamber unit 5 years against rusting through or burning through. Stainless steel burners, side burner, enamelled cast iron grates, warming rack, plastic elements and grease drawer 3 years against rusting through or burning through, the infrared back burner 3 years. All other parts, such as burner covers, ignition bridge, screws and thermometer, 2 years.

The warranty applies only in Europe and only to privately used grills, not to commercial use or communal facilities. Excluded are normal wear such as rust, colour fading, scratches or dents without loss of function, damage from improper use, improper assembly, misuse or neglected maintenance, damage from extreme weather conditions, salty air, chlorine sources, acid rain or other environmental influences, and damage from non-original parts or unauthorised repairs and modifications. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected. You can find spare parts via a QR code in the manual, and the complete parts list is in the assembly instructions.

Accessories and what adds to the purchase price

What is documented in the scope of delivery is only what belongs to the gas: hose and pressure regulator. On the product page, Enders lists accessories with prices, including the Premium weather cover for Hyde 6 for €74.90, the stainless steel rotisserie spit for Hyde 6 for €109.00, a cast iron reversible plate for Hyde 4 and 6 for €69.90 and a stainless steel grill pan for Hyde for €59.90. Cover and spit together cost €183.90 there on top of the grill, not yet counting the gas cylinder.

According to the manual, inserts such as a pizza stone, sear grate, cast pan, Dutch oven, wok or poultry roaster can be fitted into the SWITCH GRID. They are sold separately.

Some things are missing from all the Enders documents we reviewed (product page, user manual from March 2026, assembly instructions):

  • the dimensions of the warming rack
  • a maximum temperature of the normal main burners and in the cooking chamber
  • a heat-up time to a given temperature
  • the material of the side shelves, base cabinet, drawers, doors and viewing window
  • the country of origin
  • the number and type of casters
  • a number of people; the manufacturer only speaks of large grill parties with family and friends
  • since when the model has been on the market
  • spare part prices and how long spare parts remain available

When the Hyde 6 fits and when another grill does

We see the Hyde 6 with you if you regularly grill for a large group and want to sear steaks on a hot zone while vegetables sit alongside on a normal setting. Our guide to the barbecue party works out how much meat and sides to plan for that.

The Monroe Pro 4 SIK Turbo stands at approx. €619 in our price box (the Hyde 6 at approx. €540), but has 850 cm² less grate, by our calculation a good fifth less than the Hyde 6. What it brings in return is a stainless steel lid and 16 kg less weight. If you put the grill away for the winter, the Hyde 6 with its shelves folded down is still the narrower one: 146 cm against 153.5 cm assembled width on the Monroe.

If you need six burners but neither infrared nor a spit, the Nexgrill at approx. €420 in our price box is the cheaper choice. If, on the other hand, you want to grill on the spit regularly, factor the spit into the Hyde 6 price and plan the steaks for afterwards; on the Broil King Regal 590, the spit set with motor is already in the box.

One size smaller in the same series there is the Hyde 4 SIKR Turbo with 19.4 kW total output according to the manual, at an Enders RRP of €499 against €599 for the Hyde 6. It is not yet in our catalogue.

The Hyde 6 is the wrong choice if you want to connect it to the natural gas supply at your house, because only liquefied gas is approved. The same applies if it is meant to stand in a clubhouse or in a residential complex for everyone: the manufacturer’s warranty does not apply to communal facilities. And if you mostly grill for two, you move 71 kg and preheat six burners where a smaller grill does the same job. If you are unsure about size, go through the points in the Grill Finder.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Enders Hyde 6 SIKR Turbo

Short, clear answers about buying, using and caring for Enders Hyde 6 SIKR Turbo.

Is the Hyde 6 SIKR Turbo on Amazon the same grill as the Enders HYDE 6 SIKR TURBO II?

Going by the data, yes: Amazon and Enders list it under the same item number 8044, and dimensions and weight match. The user manual gives the number 80444 alongside 8044, and the assembly instructions also mention 804433. Enders does not explain in any of its documents what distinguishes these variants or whether a Hyde 6 without the II ever existed. Amazon lists the colour as grey/black.

How long do I need to preheat the Hyde 6?

15 minutes at full power, with all main burners on and the lid closed, as stated in the user manual. Enders does not give a target temperature for after this time. Also set the grill up sheltered from the wind: according to the manual, it then reaches higher temperatures and distributes heat more evenly. If you open the lid afterwards, hot air can escape, which is why Enders explicitly warns about this point.

Can I use grill mats or aluminium foil?

Not grill mats, and not aluminium foil in the grease drawer, drip tray or burner chamber either. The manual justifies the ban on mats with overheating: the cooking surface must never be covered completely. For closed cooking surfaces such as a cast plate, cast pan, pizza stone or plancha, only the Enders accessories approved for this model are permitted. By this wording, a pizza stone from another manufacturer would therefore not be approved.

What do I do if I smell gas at the grill?

You cut the gas supply to the grill, extinguish all open flames and open the lid; if the smell persists, the manual says to call the fire brigade. The opening in the rear panel is not a design flaw: Enders deliberately designed it so that escaping gas does not collect inside the grill. You should therefore not block it.

Can I connect the Hyde 6 to natural gas?

No. The manual explicitly distinguishes liquefied gas from natural gas and describes converting the grill or trying to run it on natural gas as unsafe; warranty claims are then void. In general, the grill must not be modified. Repairs and maintenance on gas-carrying and sealed parts are reserved for authorised specialist personnel.

How do I assemble the Hyde 6?

With two people, which the assembly instructions explicitly require. Power tools are prohibited, so you work with hand tools only. Assemble it on a flat, level and soft surface so that nothing gets scratched. The lid stays closed during assembly and every time you move the grill. You may only use it once all parts are in place and it has been assembled according to the instructions.

What do I need if I make a warranty claim?

The original proof of purchase, photos of the defect and the serial number of the grill. If the defect is covered by the warranty, Enders reimburses the shipping costs according to the manual. Repair or replacement is at Enders' discretion, and for a replacement part only the remaining term of the original warranty continues. A replaced burner therefore does not bring you a new three years.

How do I store the grill in winter, and where does the gas cylinder go?

According to the manual, in a dry, frost-free place, ideally under a weather cover that goes on only once the grill has cooled down. The Hyde 6 may only stand inside a building if the gas cylinder is disconnected and removed. The cylinder itself stays outdoors, out of reach of children, never in a garage or cellar, upright and protected from direct sunlight and temperatures above 40 °C.
