The THÜROS T1 is a stainless steel charcoal table grill that the manufacturer delivers fully assembled. Thüros GmbH is based in Georgenthal in Thuringia and, by its own account, carries out cutting, bending, welding and assembly there in its own plant. According to the FAQ, the brand has existed since 1992, and the name derives from Thüringer Rost (Thuringian grill). The manufacturer calls the T1 the smallest grill of its Classic series; in our charcoal grills category it counts as a table grill and, according to our price box, sells on Amazon for approx. €132.
We have not had the grill in our hands and have not grilled anything on it. The information comes from thueros.de (product, model, accessory and variant pages, FAQ, warranty and cleaning page, retrieved on 14 October 2026), from the service booklet 08/2026 for the models T1 to T5 (PDF, 48 pages) and from the Amazon catalogue. What we calculate or infer, we mark as such. First, a note on matching: Amazon lists our offer under model number TTE30, and that is the manufacturer’s article number for the basic T1 without accessories. The manufacturer pages we have read do not link to Amazon; the number is the only connection. All sets and variants you see there are different articles with their own price.
Construction: a stainless steel body in one piece
The product photo shows a square frame with the grate at the top, below it a body that tapers downwards like a funnel, and a square base plate with four black corner pieces. According to the Amazon text, these are plastic corners on the stainless steel plate, and they form the grill’s contact points. A rail sits on the grate, and an air slot can be seen on the funnel wall. The manufacturer describes the grill as one piece with no components to assemble individually.
The T1 measures 32 cm in width, 32 cm in depth and 22 cm in height. The grilling area is 30 x 30 cm (manufacturer’s figure), so the grate fills almost the entire width and depth. According to the manufacturer, the body is made of high-alloy, non-magnetic V2A/1.4301 stainless steel with a material thickness of 1 to 1.5 mm. The charcoal tray is made of the same material, 1.5 mm thick, 24 x 24 cm and 4 cm high: laser-cut slots give the charcoal oxygen, and handles make it easier to remove the cooled tray.
The grate insert is also made of V2A/1.4301, electropolished and food-safe. According to the manufacturer, the insert of the T line is reinforced and has longitudinal bracing, a rail and side handles for removing and adjusting it; all edges are folded inwards. The scope of delivery includes only the body, grate insert and charcoal tray. You buy the windshield, hood, lid and water tray separately.
In detail: 250 grams of charcoal on 900 square centimetres
On the T1, the charcoal sits in the tray below the grate, and the manufacturer limits the quantity. For the T1 and T2, the service booklet states on page 8: “Half filling height corresponds to the maximum filling”; as a recommendation, it gives at most 250 g of charcoal or briquettes. The diagram showing two-thirds filling height applies only to devices with a chimney-draught shaft, and the T1 does not have one. The manufacturer permits charcoal and briquettes; which suits you better is covered in our guide Charcoal or briquettes.
The embers get air through side air slots and the slots in the tray. The basic T1 has no air slider: the product data list No for both air regulation and ash catcher. A warning block on the same page speaks of the chimney-draught principle and of ventilation regulation; we read it as general text for models with an air slider that does not apply to the T1. Our inference: without a slider and with a shallow layer of charcoal, on the T1 you control the heat through the charcoal itself, not through the air, and for longer sessions you add more. The rail on the grate fits this: according to the manufacturer, it is there so that food does not fall off when you add charcoal.
Before first use, according to the service booklet (page 5), you heat the grill for a few minutes without food and without the grate so that production residues evaporate. You put food on only once the fuel is covered with a layer of ash.
Is the grilling area enough for three people?
According to the manufacturer, yes: in the product description and in the Amazon listing it states 1 to 3 people, while the product data on the same page say from 2 people. No source says how many sausages or steaks fit on the grate at once.
By calculation it is 900 cm² (30 x 30 cm), barely one and a half A4 sheets. For context: the Enders Aurora Stone states 925 cm² of enamelled grilling area in its Amazon listing and is therefore similarly sized.
Accessories: what fits together and what rules each other out
The prices for grill and accessories in this and the two following sections come from the manufacturer’s shop (retrieved on 14 October 2026). There, the basic T1 costs €139 plus shipping; the shop delivers free of charge within Germany only from €150 order value (gross), and the T1 alone is below that.
As delivered, you grill directly, that is, over the embers. In indirect grilling, the food does not lie over the embers; how the principle works is explained in our guide Direct and indirect heat. For this, the T1 needs two parts: the barbecue hood (€79.90; 1.4301 stainless steel, 28 x 33 x 32 cm, 1.9 kg, integrated thermometer up to 260 °C) and the barbecue water tray (€39.90; 6 x 14 x 28 cm, bevelled on one side for the edge of the charcoal tray). You fill the tray about halfway with warm water, insert it at the side and put the charcoal next to it. The hood is not part of the water tray’s scope of delivery.
If you light the grill with the tray filled, you need a firelighter, and before indirect grilling you preheat for a few minutes. Pouring cold water into a hot water tray can warp the charcoal tray (service booklet, page 36). Bought individually, grill, hood and tray cost €258.80; the BBQ Set with hood including thermometer and water tray costs €245 (5 kg) and is therefore €13.80 cheaper. The set’s product data list air regulation as Yes, while the basic T1 shows No.
The remaining accessories are attachments, some of which rule each other out. The wind clip-on panel (€49.90, 15 x 33 x 26 cm) is attached at the top, protects the embers in wind, makes the grate insert adjustable to two heights and holds skewers, grill motors and the warming rack (€29.00, 34 x 15 x 3 cm, 0.2 kg). The flat stainless steel lid (€34.90, 2 x 33 x 33 cm) keeps out leaves, dust and rain and serves to burn off remaining charcoal without flying sparks. The shashlik skewer attachment costs €49.90. There are also a wok ring attachment (€31.90, Ø 25 cm, you remove the grate beforehand) and a yakitori attachment (€49.00, with 150 bamboo skewers). Smoking and gas operation have their own attachments, whose data are in the frequently asked questions.
The lid does not fit together with the shashlik attachment or the wind clip-on panel, the wind clip-on panel does not fit with the shashlik attachment, and nothing more can be placed on the shashlik attachment. This matches the note in the Amazon listing that the attachments cannot generally be combined with one another. Our assessment: the word modular promises more freedom than the system allows. Before buying several parts, read the compatibility information for each one.
Placement and safety according to the service booklet
The T1 belongs on a heat-resistant surface. The service booklet requires this on pages 5 and 8, along with a firm, level, stable spot; the Amazon listing also refers to a heat-resistant surface. The product page, by contrast, advertises the plastic corners as protection for sensitive surfaces such as table tops or worktops and calls use on almost any surface safe. The two statements do not fit together. We would follow the instructions and not treat the plastic corners as a heat-proof base. According to the service booklet (page 4), a distance of at least 1.50 m from flammable objects must be kept.
Because of the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, the grill must not be operated in enclosed spaces, only outdoors. In operation it gets very hot and, according to the service booklet (page 4), must not be moved; the surface can become hot, accessory parts can heat up, and children and pets must be kept away. These are excerpts from the safety notes on page 4; the full list is in the booklet.
Whether you may grill with charcoal on a balcony is governed by your tenancy agreement and house rules, not by the manufacturer. As an alternative, it names the electric grill insert for campsites and balconies where charcoal grilling is prohibited (service booklet, page 8). The EER30WS electric package costs €99.90, has 1,800 watts at 220 V, is not adjustable and hangs on a 190 cm cable; the charcoal tray is removed for it. You will find the legal situation and alternatives in our guide Grilling on a balcony.
Cleaning, care and spare parts
After grilling, you let the embers die down on their own and do not extinguish them with water. Once cooled, you remove the ash: it attracts moisture and can cause surface rust, so you empty the grill completely after every use and store it dry or under a suitable cover hood (manufacturer’s cleaning page).
You take the grate off the device immediately after grilling so that nothing burns on. It may go in the dishwasher; alternatively, you soak it in hot water with washing-up liquid and finish with a wet cloth. After it has cooled completely, according to the manufacturer the whole T1 also fits in a standard dishwasher. You clean the body with grill and oven cleaner. Wire brushes made of steel or iron are off limits: they can trigger rust formation, for which the manufacturer accepts no warranty. For this, the manufacturer names the brass brush (€14.90) and the stainless steel grill scraper with adjustable round rods of 3 to 8 mm.
According to the manufacturer, the body is suitable for outdoor use and can stay outside all year round. For longer periods of storage, you clean all components thoroughly, remove ash and grease residues and use a cover hood; weather and dirt can still affect the surface. The manufacturer sells the charcoal tray and grate insert as spare parts for €39.90 each. It advertises a repurchase guarantee for accessories and spare parts and, by its own statement, still offers spare parts even for older models.
What the manufacturer leaves open
Neither the product pages nor the service booklet answer these points, as far as we have read them, and neither does the Amazon catalogue:
- Time until the embers are ready for grilling, and burn time of one fill; the pages speak of fast heating and efficient charcoal use, but minutes and grams per hour are missing
- Maximum temperature and temperature distribution on the grate; according to the FAQ, the temperature depends on model, charcoal, quantity, air supply, accessories and environment, and the manufacturer expressly gives no general maximum temperature
- Weight: 4.8 kg on the shop product page, 3.5 kg on the model page of the same domain; the Amazon catalogue lists around 5.5 kg, presumably the shipping weight
- Catalogue dimensions of 420 x 320 x 175 mm on Amazon, which do not match the manufacturer’s dimensions; we do not adopt them
- Material and heat resistance of the plastic corners, as well as minimum distance and suitability for wooden tables, decking and balcony floors
- Distances to walls, railings and balcony parapets
- Wind resistance without a windshield and stability on uneven ground
- Smoke development
- Quality of the welded seams; welding is listed as a production step, but there is no statement about the seams
- Rod diameter of the grate; the product page lists a diameter of 5 mm without saying what it refers to
- Dishwasher programme and temperature limit for the body; it says only, after it has cooled completely
- Period of the repurchase guarantee for spare parts
What else comes into question?
| Model | The difference | Price | Our rating | Choose this one if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| THÜROS T1 (this one) | 1.4301 stainless steel in one piece, grate 30 x 30 cm, accessory system, no fan | approx. €132 | 8.6 | you grill directly over charcoal for up to three people and want to buy parts later |
| LotusGrill G340 | Fan with batteries or USB, double-walled, grate Ø 32 cm | approx. €179 | 8.8 | you want to be ready to grill quickly and accept batteries or a USB power supply as well as lighting gel |
| Weber Go-Anywhere | Lid and bowl porcelain-enamelled, 2 vent sliders, folding legs | approx. €95 | 8.3 | you transport the grill often and want a lid and vent sliders from the factory |
| Enders Aurora Stone | Enamelled grilling area 925 cm², continuously adjustable fan | approx. €72 | 8.2 | you want to spend the least in this selection and need neither a stainless steel body nor an accessory system |
The prices are guide values from our price box and change; the rating is our editorial assessment from manufacturer data, not a measurement result, and the table is not suitable for comparing heat or burn time. The information on Weber and Enders comes from the Amazon listings, and that on the G340 from lotusgrill.de.
When the T1 suits you and when another grill is better
The T1 suits you if you grill directly over charcoal for one to three people, have a heat-resistant table outdoors and want to buy parts later. On price, it ranks behind two siblings in this selection: the Enders Aurora Stone costs €60 less in our price box with a similarly sized area, and the Weber Go-Anywhere costs €37 less and has a lid and vent sliders from the factory. The LotusGrill G340 is €47 above the T1 and, at 8.8, ahead of it in our rating (8.6), but needs batteries or a USB cable for the fan. Our assessment: if you never buy accessories and do not leave the grill outside, with the T1 you are paying mainly for material and manufacture in Thuringia, and that has to be worth something to you.
Size sets the limits. For more than three people at once, the THÜROS T2 is closer: 35 x 35 cm is 1,225 instead of 900 cm², around 36 percent more area, at €169 instead of €139 in the manufacturer’s shop and 6 kg according to the manufacturer; its product data also say from 2 people. If you want to grill indirectly, with the T1 you pay at least €245 after the accessories section. If you grill on a balcony with a charcoal ban, you need the electric package and come to €238.90 together (139 + 99.90); you are better off comparing that price with a grill that is electric from the start.
If you do not yet know whether it should be charcoal at all, narrow it down in the Grill Finder.
